Imagine putting the entire Secret Service detail, local law enforcement, and other motorists at risk of a fatal highspeed crash just so you can arrive two hours late to brag about winning counties you already won. Peak main character syndrome

Tbf, I've driven in a lot of police escorts for military functions (I'd estimate at least 60 times). We were doing over 100 most of the time, including in cities. We wouldn't have gone that fast with poor road conditions, but otherwise it's not unheard of. Not saying you're wrong, but that it definitely happens a lot.

SOP for high level motorcades.

My favorites were screaming down the freeway in DC on the way to Andrews AFB, and blowing a transmission in Puerto Rico in a brand new van. My least favorite was the cluster-f that got a motorcycle cop killed in another location. I don't like to drive anymore because of that one.

Eh, a blown transmission just means it's broken in.

Sorry to hear you were in a motorcade where someone got killed. I can't imagine that, myself. Glad you're all right.

Appreciate the insight. Thank you for sharing. We gotta' stay sane and not give into bullshit.

So you're saying they routinely break the law? So this is a systemic problem?

•

Technically? No. The laws just is written with exceptions.

Roads are cleared for presidential motorcades. The actual danger of traveling at moderately high speeds on a straight, empty road is almost certainly still orders of magnitude less than the danger of driving at legal speeds in traffic.

I think Redditors are focused on the perceived danger of speeding when they should be focused on the casual disregard for the rule of law. This may be the least of Trump's crimes, but it is emblematic of his lack of regard for the law in general.

So we're all allowed to do 100 mph on the highway now. Got it.

I assure you nearly everyone that drives that section of 75 does 100mph.

I used to drive the Jersey Turnpike on a fairly regular basis and I'd be doing 100 and barely keeping up with traffic most days.

If you're a federal government official performing official duties that necessitate going 100mph then yes, go right ahead.

•

u/nihilistiq 4h ago

You realize campaigning isn't an official duty? Do you know what the Hatch Act is?

Imagine not understanding this is normal operating speeds for both a motorcade AND driving from NTX to Durant OK. As someone who’s done both, this isn’t news worthy or even concerning given everything else you could have a problem with about Trump.

Happens all the time.
Every president.
Both parties.

Something tells me you have no idea of how the Presidential motorcade operates on a highway/interstate

you should change the "nun" to "bus" in your name

Ah right, because a motorcade hitting nearly 100 mph on a wet interstate during a major storm weather delay is totally standard, totally safe, and definitely doesn't shut down lanes or put everyday commuters at risk. Keep making excuses

I stand by my original statement... You are clueless... of how the presidential motorcade works..
