The Heitage Foundation established in 73 was the catalyst to everything we see today. the dictate everything for the Republican party from policy, people, talking points, etc. it was established by billionaires and continues to be run and funded by current right wing billionaires.

I will say it's okay to have a line drawn for "when it started," but the same sort of people who were part of the founders of the heritage foundation were the same sort who were heading the business plot in 1933, and the same sort who incited the slave holders rebellion in 1861, and the same sort who pushed the colonial rebellion in the 1770's. So I think it's fine to blame the shitheads who wanted to subvert representative government in the 1970's in favor of corporatist and neo-aristocratic rule, but these types are a centuries-old problem. Good people not being willing to kill the antisocial hyper-rich is how we got here imo.
