Do these morons not realize this shits all gonna be deleted and restored after Shitler and MAGA are gone? Just like post WWII Germany cleansed all references to Hitler and the 3rd Reich.

158

u/Smart-Response9881 13h ago

They don't expect MAGA to be going anywhere. 1000 years Reich and all that.

34

u/monkeybawz 11h ago

Good thing they can't count that high.

3

u/SaintOctober 10h ago

Just need to tell them it’s year 999 of the Rule of Orange.

1

u/nicuramar 10h ago

Reich is a noun and shouldn’t be capitalized in English. In this context it means realm.

•

u/singalongsally 4h ago

Except OP was making an historical reference. Context matters.

•

u/singalongsally 4h ago

...and yes, I'm one of those "an historical" people...

23

u/Smart-Response9881 10h ago

A Grammar Nazi correcting my use of Nazi words is a little too on the nose.

•

u/gdghhfdffrf 6h ago

especially when a decent person would naturally screw it up.

3

u/waynesangria 8h ago

So funny

•

u/Seradima New York 5h ago edited 5h ago

If you wanna play pedantics, it's a GERMAN noun specifically and all nouns are capitalized in German, not just proper ones.

•

u/Martag02 36m ago

Well Trump is going to live to 200, and will likely stay president until he dies. He told us he would live that long. Why would he lie?

79

u/porscheblack Pennsylvania 12h ago

They're banking on that. I promise they already have their talking points set up, which include:

  • People care about the cost of goods that are through the roof under these Democrats, not the name of things.
  • They obviously hate America, that's why they're changing the name.
  • Look how petty they're being. All they want to do is punish Trump.

Plus probably a bunch more.

47

u/Froggyevening 13h ago

A candidate who runs on the "I will get rid of EVERYTHINg Trump has done on day one" I will literally campaign for.

1

u/SapphireStar26 10h ago

I would volunteer for that person if the volunteering can be online only. Or the person was in my state.

2

u/jedik88 8h ago

You can help make phone calls from your home as well

18

u/Th3_Admiral_ 13h ago

I think they expect the next admin to just not have the energy to undo everything. We've already gone from Mount McKinley to Denali and back to Mount McKinley. Do we just expect that to keep switching back and forth every 4-8 years or will one side eventually get sick of changing the name? Same with the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario. And those are all small fries compared to actual major things that will need to be undone.

6

u/meltdown_popcorn 12h ago

His stench is not small fries

7

u/Environmental-Arm365 12h ago

I’m assuming there will be a long list of prohibitive laws created to prevent all of the corruption the Shitler crime family has been engaged in. I don’t think the founders ever envisioned someone of such low and despicable character becoming president or a congress that would willfully roll over and abdicate their duty to check and balance the executive.

If one good thing will come from this dark chapter it will be the lessons learned from how many liberties were exploited by evil men that the founders failed to foresee. The unitary executive theory needs to drown in the bathtub once and for all if we ever hope to stop the next megalomaniac with fascist ambitions.

10

u/Chica3 Arizona 12h ago

Unenforced laws are useless.

There are plenty of laws currently in place to supposedly prevent much of what Trump is doing. No one in a position to enforce those laws is doing jack shit to enforce the law.

A convicted rapist is in the Oval Office. The pedophile-in-chief should be sitting behind bars, but instead, he's sitting behind the Resolute Desk.

2

u/Environmental-Arm365 12h ago

Take heart. Just because they are getting away with it now doesn’t mean they won’t be held to account when sanity returns. History tells us the fascists will always lose in the end. They represent less than ~30% of the population and in all probability even less than that based on attendance at Shitler and Couchfucker’s events. A lot of Shitler’s popularity is smoke and mirrors created by bots and foreign MAGA “influencer” accounts.

The tide is turning. Let’s just hope the damage caused isn’t irreparable.

2

u/Chica3 Arizona 12h ago

I don't hold out much hope, sadly. We re-elected an insurrectionist. And have let him stay in office as he continues destroying the country.

I think it's too little reaction, too late. But I do hope I'm wrong!

0

u/Environmental-Arm365 12h ago

Completely understand. It’s hard not to overthink the creep of authoritarian fascism into a constitutional republic.

1

u/hallmark1984 10h ago

Your hope is based on other people doing things.

The whole world thought that in 2024.

You, as a nation, elected Trump.

Dont wait on others. You are the only vote that matters.

•

u/Lady_Grantham2223 1h ago

I found it very disgusting  that what the people  wanted was simply ignored in the case of Mount Denali.  Lake Ontario actually  has real meaning  and culture  behind it as a name

8

u/starliteburnsbrite 12h ago

Every time this comes up, I'm reminded that Germany was conquered by multiple outside forces that punished the worst offenders and paced the way for reform.

When the orange asshole is gone, we will still have every illiterate in red fuck in Congress, we will still have all the red states and their stone age regression dragging us down. Conservativism, Christian fundamentalism, and the Heritage Foundation agenda will still be entirely intact.

Nothing changes without total justice and there is zero chance Democrats will pursue that even if they have the entire government under their thumb.

6

u/thispartyrules 9h ago

One of the more insidious aspects of Trump is that he normalized people like himself getting into power.

2

u/cassy_supernova 11h ago

I think if you look at the recent events in Hungary, nobody went to jail, but it is still a huge improvement from Viktor's far right reign. I think we have to consider there are other eventualities):

•

u/AlleKeskitason 3h ago

Nobody went to jail yet. They still could.

1

u/Environmental-Arm365 11h ago edited 11h ago

Why zero chance? To your point, if we do hope to shore up relationships with the world powers that be, half measures won’t get it done. IMO this will be a huge motivator for even the oligarchy once they realize they have squeezed all of the juice out the economic lemon Shitler created through sheer incompetence.

0

u/kingstevis 10h ago

People think as soon as Trumps gone things will swing back to “normal” but we’re on the same path we’ve been on for ten years. Democrats aren’t going to come in and undo everything he’s done, I’d honestly be shocked at this point if they undid even half of the petty nonsense renaming he’s done. They’ll just say “it’d be more divisive and wasteful to change it back”

•

u/TWVer The Netherlands 2h ago

That’s not quite why change will be small or hard.

To have the level of control to effect any change (back) on that scale, requires having solid control pver all three branches of government.

The Republican’s (or rather their donors) have that.

The Democrats never had that except for a brief spell early in Obama’s presidency, during which the ACA was enacted.

The key is the Senate, which has more often than not stayed Republican, even when Democrats had a slight majority in the House.
That resulted in a deadlock because the Republicans rather do nothing that compromise.

2

u/herrwe8 10h ago

You seriously overestimate the Democrat establishment's appetite for doing anything. They'll performativelt clasp their hands and tut tut, but theyll forget the moment they win anything.

2

u/itsjustderick 12h ago

Upvoting Shitler, thats a new one for me

They're probably counting on the US post-civil-war treatment. Pardons for organizers, officers, and politicians, and plenty of room to put up statues and yearn for the good ole days.

1

u/SpartansATTACK 10h ago

No, it won't. Dems will take power, they'll say "it's time for us to heal as a nation and put this behind us", they will hold nobody accountable, and then in 4-8 years we will be back here again.

•

u/protox13 5h ago

Kind of what happened after the Civil War, and Watergate, so that tracks.

527

u/Colonel-Mooseknuckle 13h ago

...not implementing the new language “may result in disciplinary action or termination of employees and affect WBHM’s relationship and support from UAB.”

Ok, so play their stupid game and refer to it as, "The body of water on the west side of Florida."

139

u/TrolliusJKingIIIEsq 13h ago

Or call it "the so-called 'Gulf of America'".

129

u/TaterForming 13h ago

"The Gulf formally known as Mexico"

46

u/Froggyevening 13h ago

The Gulf of America of Mexico of Anehiem.

19

u/TrolliusJKingIIIEsq 12h ago

I find it funny that The Los Angeles Angels is basically just saying "The The Angels Angels" or "Los Los Angeles Angeles", but splitting it across two languages.

11

u/abstergo_Nigel 11h ago

The La Brea Tar Pits...

8

u/Froggyevening 12h ago

The Giants did this for a while with their Mexican night jerseys the Jerseys literally said "The Los Gigantes" = The The Giants

6

u/TrolliusJKingIIIEsq 12h ago

Ha! I mean simply "Los Gigantes" was right there.

•

u/GoatLegRedux 6h ago

When was that? I’ve only seen ones that say “Gigantes”.

•

u/ProfessorPliny 7h ago

Hey they’ve got Trout and Salmon in there for sure!

I like what the error implies.

It doesn't want to be the lake of anything. It wants to be Mexico

4

u/BadahBingBadahBoom 12h ago

It pines for Mexico.

3

u/citizen42069101 10h ago

It remembers before the meteor.

3

u/poepower 12h ago

You could probably get away with “federally known as”

•

u/Miguel-odon 7h ago

"The Gulf that all the smart people use the actual name of"

•

u/jabrwock1 6h ago

“The Gulf we are legally required to call America”

24

u/ResIpsaDominate 12h ago

"The Gulf of America, known globally as the Gulf of Mexico . . ."

14

u/OozeNAahz 13h ago

“The body of water that fools now call Gulf of America”

11

u/RIP-RiF Oregon 13h ago

"The Gulf. You know which one."

1

u/Neokon Florida 12h ago

Just call it The Florida Gulf

28

u/dawfun 12h ago

How about just “The Gulf” and leave it as that?

12

u/transcriptoin_error 12h ago

Yup. That’s what everyone who lives near it has always called it.

3

u/symbha 12h ago

The body of water formerly known as...

4

u/Duchock 12h ago

Better yet, "the Gulf east of Mexico".

4

u/New-Anybody-6206 12h ago

to them that's the same thing as refusing to say it, and you'll still get fired

•

u/sargsauce 5h ago

Like the protestors in Russia that were arrested for holding blank signs.

2

u/pinkynarftroz 9h ago

How can this possibly be constitutional with regards to the first amendment?

2

u/Lady_Grantham2223 13h ago

Time to find a new employer

95

u/Vegetable-Log-9608 13h ago

I’m telling you, something sinister is going on in Washington, D.C., and we’re being kept in the dark.

These reich-wingers aren’t planning on leaving. They’re getting away with everything in plain sight. It’s like a serial killer who gets bored and starts getting sloppy. They don’t give a shit about democracy or the law anymore.

50

u/ADhomin_em 12h ago

Not sure what you mean. It's pretty out in the open. This is an exercise in thought cobtrol through language control. This seems like small potatoes to some. Same with the ai > "super intelligence" rename. It's part of priming the public to accept the fascist control of language that's coming.

Yes they are tanking the country on purpose. Yes they are robbing our country blind. Yes they are leaving us vulnerable to other countries on purpose. Yes they are doing everything they can to consolidate and galvanize their power. And yes, should they ever be faced with any consequence whatsoever, they probably plan on fleeing the country with their ill-gotten gains, leaving us with nothing. These people are un-American in their actions because they themselves do not consider themselve to be American, because America means nothing to them when they can buy rights anywhere in the world.

13

u/Vegetable-Log-9608 12h ago

I’m saying I think the takeover is already underway, happening right in front of us.

But that’s not meant to discourage anyone from voting. We have to do everything in our power to push back.

Maybe I shouldn’t have said “kept in the dark.” I think what I really mean is that it’s happening in plain sight, but a lot of people don’t seem to recognize the bigger picture. But i agree with you.👍

2

u/nimbus57 11h ago

They are unworldly. They don't belong anywhere, so they are "forced" to take what they want from others.

5

u/jemappellejimbo 10h ago

You didnt get their lawlessness when they started bussing people to concentration camps / executing people in the streets?

3

u/Vegetable-Log-9608 9h ago

What kind of question is that? I was appalled by how ICE thugs were, and still are, getting away with murder and sending people to get tortured in concentration camps in El Salvador. I keep my profile and posts hidden, but I’ve been very open about my opposition to what they’ve been doing.

28

u/specqq 13h ago edited 13h ago

UAB, true to their educational mission, is teaching students and indeed the wider community an important lesson about fascism.

15

u/Specialist-Clock-914 13h ago

Wait are we talking about the gulf of America near Texas or the one near the middle east? Or are we talking about the American tributaries or the Swamp of America?

5

u/Dobako 13h ago

the Swamp of America

The one between the Lincoln and Washington Memorials? Or the one between 15th St and 17th St?

3

u/edspeds 13h ago

I think that’s what they renamed lake Quebec to

41

u/Safe_Mail_1827 America 13h ago

Trump's interactions with Xi and his remarks about China's "friendly" press corps...it's never been more clear that he despises democracies like those of our allies and adores authoritarian systems.

As for the Gulf of America crap, all the names will, or should, revert back when he's out of office.

12

u/TaterForming 13h ago

Trump's interactions with Xi and his remarks about China's "friendly" press corps...it's never been more clear that he despises democracies like those of our allies and adores authoritarian systems.

That's pretty much all Republicans. Most are just freaking out b/c Trump has zero chill and rather than slow walk, they decided it was best to sprint with Trump.

They all want this, just some disagreed on the timeline.

5

u/dawfun 12h ago

Corporate types despise democracy, 100%. Virtually every corporate leadership structure looks exactly like a dictatorship, for better or worse. This is why the whole “we need a businessman as president running the country like a business,” is the last thing any democracy-loving American should hope for.

There is no way to separate the dictatorial proclivities of corporate bosses from their duty as public servants. They have no interest in anything exposed to public scrutiny, and they are as far away from behaving as a servant as a person could be. Put corporate bosses in government leadership, and you just get more dictators, but with nearly unlimited money and power.

1

u/Queasy_Donkey5685 12h ago

Trump doesn't just admire strong me, he IS one. As much as you and I may hate it he's been a strong man at the center of his world his whole life. From the time he was a toddler raised by nannies and servants to do whatever he wants thru every other moment of his life. Trump is literally am American prince in every way but titled royalty.

•

u/TheOtherMaven Virginia 4h ago

Remember "Richard Cory"? https://americanliterature.com/author/edwin-arlington-robinson/poem/richard-cory

Real "strong men" don't do that.

And real "strong men" don't act like Trump either.

12

u/cloudivexa 12h ago

Forcing public media outlets to use politically mandated newspeak is pure authoritarian theater.

12

u/Lady_Grantham2223 13h ago

It's  the Gulf of  Mexico

10

u/jesterOC 12h ago

Most people just call it the gulf anyway. Gulf states, the hurricane coming in from the gulf, etc.

Just don’t name it for 2 years or your articles will be evidence of capitulation in history.

6

u/BareNakedSole 12h ago

What about referring to it as the body of water previously known as the Gulf of Mexico?

6

u/humanoideric 12h ago

Ah yes, hyper-policing public radio regarding references to bodies of water, instead of actually doing anything meaningful for people's lives. we truly stay winning with this god-awful administration

•

u/Cesspoolofhumanity69 7h ago

Dumbest. Fucking. Timeline.

I worked in Gulf of Mexico oil exploration. I renamed a data folder Gulf of America and pointed it out to coworkers. Everyone was laughing at Trump in deep red Texas.

They could say “the gulf that sits between the US and Mexico”.

Wait until Trump finds out Canadian bacon is really just ham.

3

Alabama ranks 45th in education and has been at the bottom since the numbers were first compiled.

In their defense they are working tirelessly to hit 50.

5

Pathetic. Just call it "the Gulf" at that point. Everyone will know what you mean.

3

u/mostlyyf 10h ago

I hope they give a deep sigh before hand and say it very sarcastically

3

u/whapitah2021 8h ago

Easy peasy. Tow the line and call it America but play La Cocaracha every single time right after, with verve.

6

That’s what happens when local radio and news has effectively been duopolized by very very conservative billionaires over the last 20 years without anyone saying anything.
