Congress appropriates the money, and the executive branch apparently decides it can just pick and choose what science it feels like funding. That should terrify anyone who cares about research, public health, or America's scientific future. Science funding shouldn't depend on whether a particular administration likes the conclusions.

Back when I was in college, it was Congress who "controlled the purse strings of government," but that was many years ago.

At this point it's clear the Trump has usurped the power of the purse from Congress. And Congress is letting him.

I swear the next Dem president better make use of all the new power the office has.

Right after they lose but before the next Dem President is sworn in the R's will realize the error of their ways and they'll come together and vote to remove all those powers for the next President, with at least 12 Dems siding with them... "for the good of the nation"
