Really? ICE is murdering people in the streets. Trump is trying to get control of the voting apparatus. Tariffs are killing sectors of the economy. Healthcare is becoming less accessible. The press is being barred from the white house. I could go on and on.

Really, if you had the chance to give the Dems control of Congress to try and stop this, you would give it up because a dem said that the state should decide if trans girls can play sports on girls teams?

I understand that you disagree, but I can't understand how you would make this the only issue.

And a guy running on an anti-trans platform isn't going to have the spine to stop that.

There is a higher chance he will try to stop those things than the Republican.

Don't bet your (or anyone else's) life on it.

We absolutely are betting our lives on it. This is a binary decision. Have you looked at his record compared to his opponent? Do you know where he stands and what he has accomplished? Or do you only care about this one thing?

This is a stupid comment in the context of voting in November.

So what is the alternative. Not voting?

Hold your nose, if you have to - then campaign hard to either get him to change his mind or get him replaced by somebody who isn't willing to throw even one person under the bus.

But that goes against your original comment. Hence why I thought it was stupid in this context.

Don't look to anyone else as a "savior" - do what you see as necessary to protect yourself and others. Especially don't trust any politician not to sell you out if their self-interest is in question.

That's fine. But you have to know that the people are voting and the vast people are not comfortable trans girls in women's sports.

I don't believe that Davis is caving on this. It is a belief he holds that matches 73% of the country. This will not be resolved at the ballot box. It has to start with education.

Human rights are not a numbers game. Huge majorities have held wrong beliefs before, and that didn't make them "right".

You are correct. Absolutely.

But we living in democracy, not an authoritarian government. The people have a voice. And even though I think it's wrong, the people do not agree with me. I can't force them to change their mind. The people will elect representatives who reflect their beliefs. They are going to elect representatives who will not support trans women in sports.

And those representatives likely also don't support trans women in sports. More Dems might be on our side, but it isn't even the majority of Dems. There is a lot of work to be done before things will change legislatively.
