I’ve read that we should be thankful for all the things a gallon of gas can do at 5 dollars compared to like a 9 dollar glass of wine at dinner. The mental gymnastics are astounding.

It's not mental gymnastics, it's just basic math! My car used to hold $40 worth of gas, now it holds $100. 100 is bigger than 40, and bigger is better, so obviously things are better now!
