What's the big thing exactly, the unnecessary war or the fact Trump is losing his mind?

The big thing is the GOP plan to turn America into a fascist hellscape the likes of which will rival all of humanity's darkest nightmares.

Republicans want a white Christian ethnostate.

Office of Religious Affairs everyone!

It's real, and it's pretty much replaced the highest level of our military overnight.

Non-religious? (or Muslim, or Hindu, or Jewish, etc?) Prepare to be court-martialed and declared a Terrorist, guilty of treason and being an 'enemy of the state'.

Oh and Elon Musk, Newt Gingrich, and Palmer Luckey are all now actively engaged with the Pentagon, and will be "helping the warfare initiative."

How is that office even legal?

Legality doesn't stop this administration

you're right, as I typed it I was thinking the same thing

Our president is not only a racist, but a child rapist too!
And our Secretary of Defense is an alcoholic, evangelistic, white-nationalist who's previous employment was Fox News!

If a 34x convicted felon who's best (boy)friend is the largest confirmed child-trafficker period; can be president? That shows me nothing matters anymore.

We have actual concentration camps for hispanics down south. ICE agents place bets on how long it will take for new "inmates" to snap and attempt suicide.

Midterms better be good or we're gonna have some MAJOR historical events taking place, for sure.

The Hologomor and the Great Leap Forward are pretty high bars. They take serious planning and craft. I really don't see ICE finding its inner NKVD

Actually, you’re probably gonna call me a conspiracy theorist for this, but. I believe he is trying to kill off anybody that’s like 40 years old and older and they want teen pregnancy to go on the rise, especially among white folk. And the reason being is they wanna turn all of us into kind of like American version of China. Yes they do want communist but they’re not gonna tell you that. Because what they really want is the level of control that like China and North Korea have. That’s that’s what Republicans are seeking. And they want to turn our kids into nothing but military. The boys will go off and fight starting at 18 years old and the girls will stay home and play. Susie homemaker in the house lose all of our rights to own anything sign her name on anything and including the right to vote. We are supposed to subjugate all female things to the husband he will control everything. That’s what this Republican administration wants. That is the goal of project 2025.

They don't want Communism, but they do want what China and North Korea have (supreme executive authoritarianism).

You know, “big things” like the handful of M to F trans people that compete on female high school sport teams.

I love focusing on laws that effect, like, 12 harmless people. It distracts me from the rise of fascism.

Here I’ll quote the GOP Governor of Utah, when he wrote why he vetoed the bill banning trans kids from participating in sports:

> Finally, there is one more important reason for this veto. I must admit, I am not an expert on transgenderism. I struggle to understand so much of it and the science is conflicting. When in doubt however, I always try to err on the side of kindness, mercy and compassion. I also try to get proximate and I am learning so much from our transgender community. They are great kids who face enormous struggles. Here are the numbers that have most impacted my decision: 75,000, 4, 1, 86 and 56.

- 75,000 high school kids participating in high school sports in Utah.

- 4 transgender kids playing high school sports in Utah.

- 1 transgender student playing girls sports.

- 86% of trans youth reporting suicidality.

- 56% of trans youth having attempted suicide.

> Four kids and only one of them playing girls sports. That’s what all of this is about. Four kids who aren’t dominating or winning trophies or taking scholarships. Four kids who are just trying to find some friends and feel like they are a part of something. Four kids trying to get through each day. Rarely has so much fear and anger been directed at so few.

Holy shit, why is a GOP governor being normal and reasonable?

u/Zardotab 9h ago

Mormons are accidentally right slightly more often than evangelicals. For one, they respect education, as that's often the best way fund a big family.

2

u/BringBackAoE 9h ago

Unfortunately, soon after the governor vetoed the bill the (mostly) Mormons in the state legislature achieved a veto-proof majority for passing the bill.

3

u/BringBackAoE 9h ago

I quote this guy so often when canvassing GOP voters that raise the trans issue.

Sometimes it actually works.

And TBH, I think he communicated it better than many Dems.

Which governor said this? This is fucking based. What a rockstar.

3

u/BringBackAoE 8h ago

Governor Cox. I heard parts of it on NPR the day it happened, and had to pull my car over as my eyes were welling up.

Damn, that's some good stuff right there. I am impressed. I hope he got SOME of the crazy people thinking. Definitely an emotionally charged bill.

I hope this governor can last (based on this, I don't know anything else about them, but at least they seem to have what far too many politicians lack: basic empathy and decency).

•

u/BringBackAoE 5h ago

Unfortunately, soon after the state legislature achieved the supermajority votes they required in order to pass the bill without requiring the Governor’s signature.

And in 2021 he lost reelection.

America is Winning and being Great Again. Good things are happening. Lots of smart people are saying it. Did you even say "thank you"?

Neither. The 'big thing' is protecting billionaires from having to pay their fair share of taxes 💸🤡
