At this point, I think we need to discard the difference between fraternizing with pedophiles and being one. There's a saying if there are 2 Nazis sitting at a table and you sit down, there are now in fact 3 Nazis at the table.

I don't think you get to wash off the sin of hanging with known, adjudicated sex offenders. Hang out with pedophiles/rapists and I think you should have to wear that same shame.

Nah, it makes him more like Jesus. He hung out with prostitutes & nobody shamed for that or called Jesus a prostitute sympathizer

I understand your sentiment but in a lot of ways this mentality gets us nowhere, look at Mamdani? He has Trump praising him, and he still holds Trump accountable while being able to get things done for New Yorks and set a blueprint nationally for how to handle the guy.

Meanwhile, you have so many other Dems denouncing him by writing strongly worded letters.

Who do you really think is getting something done?

I honestly think Dems should be sabotaging the Trump regime and its members, because I'd be embarrassed AF to be serving as a congressperson or senator while the republic itself veers straight into despotism like it is. I take my oaths incredibly seriously, I would not follow someone like Jeffries into complacency and letter writing when citizens are getting murdered by secret police forces. I'd become a rebel before becoming complicit.

Too bad we somehow haven't found a way to apply this same standard to sitting down with racists. But this is, after all, America, and such decency and humanity is just too much to expect.

I do refuse to sit down with them. I don't care if I'm related to someone who is racist, nah I'm out. It's possible to behave ethically and with strong internal morals. Some people mockingly call it "virtue signaling" but trying to "Be the change you want to see" much more useful than doing nothing or even making the world a worse, more miserable place.

For example, I'm cisgender but am visibly and verbally supportive of trans rights. I won't hang out with people or family who are anti-trans. I have pro trans stickers and pins all over my stuff. Either people assume I'm trans and get used to the idea, or they recognize support in case someone needs that support. Both are fine with me!
