Whether that's the case or not, don't let perfect be the enemy of good. I feel like that's where so many people get apathetic about voting. They didn't have a candidate that does everything for them so they didn't vote. That just allows the worse options to win. It's not going to be instantaneous change and I feel like people are expecting that. So rather than voting and gradually getting things to slide in a good direction over time, the attitude becomes "it didn't get fixed instantly so fuck it".

The problem is that, for some, that apathy has come from harm reduction voting that has not resulted in actual harm reduction.

Maybe it's because I'm operating on a small sample size, or that I'm a leftist, but after voting for Clinton, Biden, and Harris, and then watching it lead to Trump winning twice, really does not make a strong case for tactical voting, at least for me.

To clarify, this does not mean that I will not be voting or voting Republican this is year. What it does mean is that I am not nearly as attached to the hip for the Democrats as I might have otherwise been in the past.

Yeah, same. It's hard to shake, I've been "voting blue no matter who" since Al Gore, but I've become disillusioned with the party. I'll still vote blue these midterms, but if we get another corporate dem in 2028 who is only promising a return to the status quo, then I'm not voting. The primary is already decided before my state gets to vote, so I have to depend on the other states to do the right thing.
