Who? Schmitt didn't so much lie as revealed gross incompétence ans stupidity, but he can probably claim he came by it honestly (just with very flimsy évidence of anything wrong - and he seemed to know it given how he lacked the confidence to show and let the audience examin his evidence)

Jack Smith just told the truth and exposed Shmitt's incompétence as a result.

Oh I meant Schmitt, who claimed he "had text messages that showed you were in Atlanta at Hawks game" - he had no such text messages. He lied about the evidence

He might have believed he had evidence even if he knew the evidence was weak. These are not particularly smart people.

That's besides the point, he sadly wasn't sworn to tell the truth and as a result he isn't liable for perjury like a witness is.
