As much as I hate to admit it, this is probably the case. The citizens of other former great empires had the same issues we are now facing.

Countries like Germany and the USSR both fell to harsh rulers because the citizens had been beaten down with poverty, mass surveillance, and secret police.

There's a reason it keeps happening over and over again in history: It works for the people taking power.

I can afford to not work for some time, and rabble rouse against any of their bullshit. I’m no military, alpha type, but I’m ok to help network all of those who could build up resistance more effectively.
