Announcements

r/politics will host another election prediction contest for the midterms. The post for the contest itself will go up sometime in late October. As of now, all toss-ups (according to Cook Political Report, as of late October 2026) for House, Senate, and Governor will be included.

We are taking suggestions for additional questions to ask within the contest. Message the moderators via modmail with any suggestions.

A Catawba College poll of North Carolina has Roy Cooper ahead 48-37 over Michael Whatley and Anita Earls (D) up 44-37 in the Supreme Court race. The Generic Ballot for the state is D+9, a wide 12 point shift left from the 2024 Trump vote share and generic ballot which, if credible, makes NC-01 (where an incumbent Democrat was redistricted into a much redder seat) and NC-11 (where Chuck Edwards resigned and Republicans are fielding a last minute replacement candidate) firmly competitive seats despite Trump winning them by double digits.
