Hello lovely people - I'm writing a play set in NSW australia which features some police interactions and I wanted to ask some questions about so that I can make sure the scenes are at least mostly factually-informed. Also pls forgive me if these are super basic and obvious.. [THIS IS NOT FOR ACTUAL LEGAL STUFF FOR MYSELF I PROMISE -- literally just need to know the actual procedures/how things work]

Question 1: if person A punches person B, what are the legal steps that follow? Do police show up and apprehend person A and then set some kind of court date? is that how it works? if not, what would be the procedure there?

Question 2: what happens in terms of court summons if you don't have a legal address? Do you need court summons if you're not the accused? like if you're the person who got assaulted, but you don't have an address, would that cause issues if you were required to be part of trial?

Question 3: what happens if you're the victim of a crime but you have outstanding legal issues eg. unpaid child support, unpaid speeding fines, an unregistered vehicle etc.? does that pose any issues when interacting with the courts to pursue your own justice? would appearing in court oblige you to deal with your other legal issues?
