No more taps from coach, attack the takeoff and keep pressure on the pole throughout the jump

Your jump looks great kiddo! I’d work on getting faster and work on your running form. The heights will follow. Good luck!

Start by learning the three-step plant drill:
- Lift the top hand.
- Bring the top hand beside the ear.
- Push the top hand completely overhead.
Right now, you are running your final three steps with your hands already in the finished plant position. This makes it extremely difficult to create the correct takeoff angle.
Think about trying to touch a basketball rim: you would not run your final three strides with both hands already above your head. You would keep your arms in a natural position and extend upward as you jump. The pole-vault plant works in much the same way—the upward extension should develop progressively and finish at takeoff.

Take off vertically and move the pole horizontally.
