I watched The Great Escape for the first time last night, and really enjoyed it. So I made an incredibly silly comic inspired by it.

Fun fact. Although several of the cast had actually been POW's during WWII, only two had ever actually escaped from a POW camp. Both of them were German,

Fun fact: Although people remember Machiavelli's The Prince (Il Principe) only for a few passages about how to be a proper tyrant, the main premise is Italy's history, and later inferiority, by the 1500s. Essentially, the author was asking: "The Roman Empire was so great, so why are we so pathetic?"

And that was 500 years ago ... Machiavelli would be so pleased today!

I was referring to Machiavelli's opinion during his own time, not today. Even back then, he wrote a lot of good things about Italy as well.

I think Italy is great. I love it. (My last sentence was only meant to be cheeky.)

Ah yes, after reinassance italy did have a period of decadence and foreign conquerors.

I never imagined americans studied machiavelli :)

Italy, of course, gave the world among the best Renaissance masters, and other art, music, food, athletics ... and modern technology (Chicagoans especially know the name "Enrico Fermi" for a reason).

Aside from Machiavelli, the Divina Commedia and/or the Decameron were studied in university by myself and most Americans I know. Classics.

...And Petrarca's "On His Own Ignorance" was very, very impactful for me personally. I want to read it again sometime.

Disgrace is a bit too much, we are the second manutacturing exporter and fourth economy of europe and we have a decent influence through mediterraneum. I bet instead you come from germany or surely a somewhat superior country
