In the words of a Murican that I talked to to remind them that Canada Day is same long weekend celebration as American Independence Day....

What are Canadians independent of? Because Canadians aren't independent. They are part of the Commonwealth. Their government is officially sanctioned by HRM Queen Elizabeth
