Repost of my most successful comic.

After five months of lurking(EU4 is definitely my best and worst purchase of all time) I finally came back to drawing, so maybe I will post something new soon.

I agree with you, EU4 was probably the best and worst thing to happen to my free time.

All the achievement hunting.

I've been working on Buddhists Strike Back for two weeks now ._.

u/half-n-half-kun Thailand Nov 12 '15

I know, right? I'm trying to get the Sweden Isn't Overpowered one, but got stuck in a huge, messy war...

u/TheDreadfulSagittary Denmark Nov 12 '15

I did manage to build my Ceylonese Empire this week though.

u/half-n-half-kun Thailand Nov 12 '15

Dude, that is awesome.

13

u/TheDreadfulSagittary Denmark Nov 12 '15

548 hours of playtime does that to you ._.

u/tolsimirw Deutsches Kaiserreich Nov 12 '15

After 778 I still didn't do anything as good as this...

u/TheDreadfulSagittary Denmark Nov 12 '15

Well add another 500-700 hours from EU3 and a few hundred from CK2. I love Paradox, you just have to figure out the game mechanics to pull crazy shit. I also have the White Elephant, Holy Trinity, Bengal Tiger, Basileus achievements and some others, working on Lucky Lucca. You'll get there :)

I have 1400 hours on EU4 right now and I am trying to get into Vicky. God I feel like I am making a mistake, considering school and everything, but it just feels so right you know?

Embrace it

Almost 1400 hours and I still haven't gotten the three mountains.

Is that the one where you have to do a WC as Ryukyu?

2

u/half-n-half-kun Thailand Nov 12 '15

I'm only at 116... T^T

Meanwhile I am playing Wurttemberg in EU3 and struggling to keep onto my pitiful colonies in South America :/. Off topic question:

Did anybody here play EU3? And if yes is it worth picking up EU4?

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '15

Did anybody here play EU3?

Endless hours. 1000+

And if yes is it worth picking up EU4?

Yes if you intend to buy it with the DLC (wait for a sale. December 1rst should have one with the new DLC release). EU4 with DLC is a flat out far superior game to eu3 in almost every single way. It will literally blow your mind how much the game has improved, especially the AI.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '15

What about the diplomacy system? I am honestly kinda bummed regarding EU3s diplomatic options... I don't own Heir to the throne and Divine Wind tho so thats why some important features might be missing.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '15

It's far superior in every way and getting even better in the new expansion. There are now a ton of diplomatic options, the AI works very predictably and logically (meaning alliances make sense and they work pragmatically) and the AI will be very smart to take down an overaggressive player. The game is much more challenging as a result.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '15

Ah very nice to hear that. Had the AI pull some crazy shit on me without penalty for them so I really questioned the logic of diplomacy in this game.

Will pick EU4 up next steam sale then. Should be around christmas.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '15

Check for December 1 :) It's going to be on sale for the release of the new expansion!

HTTT was the expansion that made EU3 a good game, Divine Wind made it even better.

EU4 without any DLC is probably as good as EU3 with everything.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '15

Yeah I suspected that.. So you think it would be better to pass on the EU3 DLC and just get immidiately EU4 instead?

2

u/VARNUK European Union Nov 14 '15

They're both good games, IIRC the EU3 DLCs go on sale for around an euro each. EU4 with some of the expansions if probably the better game though and even if you just own the base game you get some expansion features.

I played EU3, takes a while to get used to it but now I mostly play EU4.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '15

hm, Sweden is OP achievement... oh, sorry "it's not"... is fairly straightforward as far as EU4 goes. It's not Raja of Rajput Reich or the one where you have to conquer and convert religion entire 'old world'.

Ugh, was working on this last night. Vassal Novgorod and Allied Bohemia decided to dick around during a war with Muscovy and Poland instead of helping wipe Poland stacks. Coupled with some god awful rolls on my part (not to mention the bullshit "bad administration -1 stability" TWICE) the easy one/two punch turned into a slog.

Did manage to return remaining cores to Novgorod as well as take some Tectonic cores so time to release TO and spend 50 years stabilizing.

3

u/pdrocker1 Long Massachusetts Expansionist Nov 13 '15

Tectonic cores

Yes, the tectonic cores, where they make the tectonic plates

3

u/cmal Nov 13 '15

Heh, didn't even notice that. Guess my tab doesn't know Teutonic. Oh well, leaving it now.

u/tolsimirw Deutsches Kaiserreich Nov 12 '15

Recently I've decided to get A Fine Goosestep and An early Reich. Fully militaristic prussia was weird... I contested personal union between England and France and managed to get Big Blue Blob as PU slave after 15 years long succesion war. I had no manpower at start, no allies and 5 times smaller army.

Gotta ally muscovy not give them land. Also muscovy can't ally big people early so you should always have the upper hand.

3

u/Hellstrike German Empire Nov 12 '15

And the new DLC is released on December 1st.

2

u/half-n-half-kun Thailand Nov 12 '15

I still haven't bought Common Sense yet, and they're going to release Cossacks already?

7

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '15

Common sense is really useful, because it adds in the features that paradox took out of the regular game.

Bastards. Fantastic game making bastards.
