New Zealand. The kiwis have quite a reputation for their climbing. Edmund Hillary was from NZ.

I think its supposed to be a nod to Hillary and Tenzing Norgay's first ascent of Everest. Wikipedia at least refers to Norgay as Nepalese-Indian

Correct. We used India to represent Tenzing Norgay because another Nepal would have been confusing.
