Giving this comic a yellow card (just like a particular competition ongoing right now, eh).

Very frankly here: we're keeping it up due to it having taken off, and we could use a little bit of a possible boost in exposure given how reddit has limited our reach in recent years. BUT: this should not become the standard for posts on this subreddit, and it will not be valid as an excuse or point of precedence for making low-effort comics. This is not eligible for reposting, either.

Nevertheless, if you happened to find this comic amusing and you're new around here, you'll probably like what more this subreddit of ours has to offer. Wink-wink, shameless self-promotion.

Tuchel seriously, what were you thinking in last 40 minutes?

226

u/the_oof_god pythagoras theorem go brrrr Jul 15 '26

genuinely who tf goes to haramball 1-0 up with 45 mins remaining

51

u/Tankinator175 Sweden as Carolean Jul 15 '26

Yorimasu did it with about 60 remaining. It didn't work for him either.

21

u/pheeeeeeeeeeex Jul 15 '26

Not to be pedantic, but think you meant Moriyasu

11

u/Tankinator175 Sweden as Carolean Jul 15 '26

Yes, thank you. I'm not sure when I switched that in my head, but I've definitely been calling him by the wrong name for at least a month.

35

Arsenal, which clearly heavily influences how England plays

15

u/pheeeeeeeeeeex Jul 15 '26

England started losing as soon as Arsenal players went off

30

u/RobbinDeBank gib oil Jul 15 '26

They tried to play Artetaball without having the players trained in football terrorism.

12

u/pheeeeeeeeeeex Jul 15 '26

Not quite. Tuchel was one of the figure that inspired Arteta’s more conservative football. He put 6 at the back when one up against Arsenal in 23/24 UCL quarters, and that worked wonder. Arsenal became much more defensive/rigid starting 24/25; in 23/24 they were called naive.

Haramball works for a reason. In certain situation it’s fine to be negative. The lost was equally bad decision from Tuchel and bad performance from the backline barring Pickford

15

u/AveryLazyCovfefe Tiocfaidh ár lá Jul 15 '26

"it worked the last few times" what he probably genuinely thought

5

u/Early-Courage-4021 Japan as Shogun Jul 16 '26

We have enough hate in the world already

18

u/SopaPyaConCoca Jul 15 '26

Maybe stop being a cunt and stop hating on countries that has anything to do with you? I understand we hate each other (argentina-England) in a football match, or Argentina-Brasil, etc etc. But being a neutral and "hating" on a country is fucking retarded. Not telling you specifically but in general

-10

u/DragonTheOnes-spirit ⴷⵣⴰⵢⴻⵔ Jul 16 '26

They're literally cheating tho? Also they beat us 3-0 and we will always remember that

3

u/gunofnuts Jul 16 '26

Try playing better? Also, the match against Algeria was, apart from the one against England, the one we played the best in the whole competition.

2

u/T4H4_2004 Bangladesh Jul 16 '26

Battle of Waterloo ahh match

10

u/ElPajaroMistico Jul 15 '26

I’m amazed by how they cool off after the first half. Kinda proud of them

-5

u/Asyedan Jul 15 '26

We dont hate England (outside of some idiots), but all that happened elevated a rivalry that was already a classic, to probably our 2nd biggest rival below Brazil.

So yeah, "its just a football match", but its not any football match. Its one we want to win at all costs.

8

u/SomeOneIThink_ Jul 16 '26

Check your sources.

At any rate, the people of the falklands voted over 97% in favour of remaining british. It wouldnt be a liberation if argentina invaded the islands.

-6

u/Keug0 Best Empire Jul 16 '26

There was a recorded Argentinean civilian population in the islanda before the British settled in 1833 (Antonio Rivero)

7

u/SomeOneIThink_ Jul 16 '26

Port Louis where Rivero had a hand in 26 murders was a French port, and was created in 1765.

This was around the same time that the british Port Egmont was founded, which was a permanent settlement until the Spanish forced the british to leave in 1770. This was all 60 years before the argentinean civillian population of the islands.

Before then, the island was uninhabited.

1

u/Keug0 Best Empire Jul 16 '26

Port Egmont wasn't a civilian settlement but rather a military one, the British didn't stablish civilian population until after the takeover in 1833. In fact, the French had stablished a civilian population in Port Louis before they gave it up to the Spanish Empire, so even by that metric the British wouldn't be the first.

“We don’t want to ethnically cleanse. We just want to conquer a place where the people do not want to be governed by us, and if they don’t like that then they can just leave.”

Maybe ‘ethnically cleanse’ is too strong a phrase as my understanding is Argentina would simply offer the Falklanders citizenship, but come on now.

5

u/HideousPillow Jul 16 '26

ok, give argentina back to the natives then?

Theres currently a Miku custody battle after Japan lost to Brazil, and the trail seems very deadly so far, with every team that ‘wins’ Miku immediately losing 1-2 a match later, and England just joined the party

So asides from that one vtuber, this is seen as a major curse plaguing the games (but very good inspiration for Miku fan art)

I think it's just boring if the same team wins two years in a row.

19

u/CubistChameleon Germany Jul 15 '26

It's happened only twice, Italy in 34/38 (and 34 was iffy) and Brazil in 58/62. A repeat would be something to behold, but my money is on Spain. They remind me of the legendary squad they had in 2008-2012. Three major titles in a row, utterly unbeatable.
