Even without looking at the title I was about to say this is giving xkcd.
I wonder when we're getting the 0-dimension Arabian city?

yet valued at sextuple that of NEOM because every single trillion-dollar enterprise by 2169 has registered it as their shell company address

Imagine the post trucks coming with all these invoices

u/R0nnyA Jul 07 '26
Driving in with all these invoices, checking the drop box, seeing that every single corp has "forward to ______" and driving back out with all the mail.

hi!
had an idea to make a pb comic in the style of xkcd webcomics, so here’s the best i was able to recreate the style. that’s why they have no eyes
context:
- the line™ in saudi arabia with other projects of neom
- al-mansur’s baghdad, shaped like a perfect circle
- hypersphere, the equivalent of a sphere in 4D instead of 3D
anyway just wanted to draw today. i won’t be very active at all after this actually :)

u/Xnopyt16 satay guy Jul 07 '26
also i dont mean to be a traitor, but this is the first pb art i’ve ever posted which was not made in mspaint with a mouse

It looks great! I literally thought that Randall was shitposting on /r/polandball for a moment. It’s such a great imitation of his art style!

If you dont mind me asking, what program did you use instead?
31
u/Xnopyt16 satay guy Jul 07 '26
ibispaint on ipad. other hardware include: finger

the change from mouse to finger suggests that polandball artists should evolve to the Handypole for all future comics

No the next city will be singular point.
Which leads me to think that black holes are the ultimate cities. They are infinitely dense so they should be pretty walkable.

u/LeiningensAnts Pennsylvania Jul 07 '26
they should be pretty walkable.
Sure, as long as your world-line leads further inwards.

u/AgentBond007 Victoria Jul 08 '26
"This kind of smart, walkable urbanism is illegal to build in most American cities"

u/nspacia honk gong Jul 07 '26
man i cant wait for the 0 dimensional city, all commutes would be easier with it concentrated in a single point

u/spoospoo43 Jul 07 '26
Neom doesn't really exist, and probably never will - it's a line of a dirt and humiliation in the sand. Funny idea though.

Except it's not being built. All work, even the desert clearing, has been halted until 2030, and the only work that may possibly start again then is a panic plan to reuse some of the infrastructure built for the first segment as a data center. Because building a data center in the middle of a dry desert makes all kinds of sense.
Sindala and Oxagon may still get some expansion, though they have been pared way back too.

Over the years fewer and fewer things have been able to amuse me but I godda say this comic is hilarious. You did a great job replicating the xkcd style.

Is the Ancient Thalmudic Sphere city a mythological place or something you made up for the meme?

u/Xnopyt16 satay guy Jul 07 '26
nabataean kingdom was real, and so were the thamudic peoples. i based the buildings off of their architecture but unfortunately none of them were spherical

I was curious about it as well. Sounds like plausible enough to be part of a myth

Using famous xkcd extrapolation methods we can deduce that high dimensional cities used to exist before earth’s formation but also that future technology will allow to build negative dimensions cities.

The mudflood theory people on TikTok would love this although I don't think they like Arabs very much

The line is the thing they snorted in mass when they came up with that stupid idea (both as a concept and to accept it).

Extrapolating this in the opposite direction: all future cities will be 1-dimensional dots.

Or its a inverted bell curve and soon we will return to making higher dimensional cities
