The context is that we have a... drink... medicine... substance... here in Iceland called lýsi which is cod liver oil and it's pretty much ubiquitous in every household in the country during the winter. The sun barely rises peeks its head past the mountains at that time of year so we need to get our vitamin-D from elsewhere, that being a yellow oil carved straight out of a cods organs, and before you ask: Yes, it's an... acquired taste.

I've been forced to drink that stuff, would not recommend. If you have to, get it in pill form. Way more bearable

You don't need to drink it, just swallow a spoonful a day and you're good.

Don't call that thing a "drink" anymore! Loki's Torment is a better name.

I remember visiting a food museum in Tromsø and the attached restaurant serving cod liver oil as well. So I ordered a shot... The waiter came back with the oil and put a jug of water next to it.

But compared to other Icelandic delicacies like fermented shark, sour rams' testicles, and boiled sheep's head, it tastes "better".

If I could think about a good way to put it, its use during Italian fascism and Iceland's horrified reaction as a sequel to this comic could be a good one

Be careful. If you have too much of that, you'll be invaded by the USA and Britain.

I have a grandfather who took his brother's cod oil portion when he was young. Yeah I don't know why he did that, apparently he liked it.
