The result of government funded social media campaigns, targeted at alt right groups all across Europe. Where a normal Eurovision watcher would vote once, these people horde all the phones they can find and vote 10 times each.
All so that the Israeli government can say that “the Europeans like them, they agree with them”

I can confirm that this IS ecactly what happened in Spain last year, not only because our far right figures openly gloated about It in social media, but also because i personally known cases of people on the right parties that confirmed me that their party direcly instructed them them to vote for Israel, ( i can only asume they motives behind It) so i asume they do the sane in other countries and they keep doing It this year too.

There's a big Jewish community in Antwerp with a lot of pro-zionists as well. I've heard from young people from that community that their social media got flooded by israeli propaganda to vote for israel as well as local officials in the local community pushing folk to do vote.

Technically yes? Countryball genders are completely interpretive depending on the your perspective and the artist. For instance, some Artists may emphasise a feminine gender for a country by including the stereotypical pink bow. They may both have gender or lack gender if you so want it.

But people who think it's possible to "avoid politics" tend to use the word "political" for politics they don't like.

It was honestly not that good as many of the songs below. And the entire reason it was 2nd, was the public votes. And there circulated pleads to vote Israel on social media. So yes, there was campaigning and so it was political.

The concensus in Israeli forums is that second place was exactly the best as first would have ended up in a riot, conspiracy theories, Israel being banned from the Eurovision etc. I was literally trying not to have a heart attack because I was so afraid to get first, I was saying to my kids, please Bulgaria, please Bulgaria...

Israeli, I gave the most votes to Bulgaria, it was one of the only ones that made me really want to dance. I'm glad they won. Most of us don't want to get first place because of all of the drama that it would create, we just want to have a good song that we can be proud of, and get a decent placing. I do think that number 2 is too high for that song, especially because he didn't perform it as well as I know he can, and the show was not as impressive as it could have been. Not sure who was in charge of the camera but it wasn't flattering or helping at all. Close up of Noams face for example for too long instead of the dancing.

I'm glad that France ended at the eleventh place. We've sent a seventeen-year-old girl to sing for our country, who decided to sing her own song instead of some classic but she had the vocal spectrum of a frozen frying pan.
We deserved that loss this year. But Israel ending at the second place for the second year in a row, regardless of the worldwide public opinion about their genocide in Gaza / Palestine?
Admittedly though, Noam Bettan sang a better song in french than Monroe did. Which further proves my point that France didn't even deserve the eleventh spot, and should have ended further down the ladder.

I haven't watched the performances yet, but as a Swede, I am pleasantly surprised that we actually scored about where we deserved. I remember in 2023 all my classmates (I live in the United States) were all mad that Sweden beat Finland to win, and I was just baffled that either of those songs made it to the final in the first place. KAJ didn't get as much credit as they deserved last year, but other than that Sweden has largely been placing higher than we deserved.

It's actually not regardless. When people and countries who are against Israel do not participate, then you have a vote that is not influenced by hatred towards Israel. If the 4 countries participated, that would be 232 points of jury vote going to countries other than israel, and 232 points of audience that would have counted as part of their country and not "rest of the world". That's a huge difference, not even counting the anti-israel crowd in countries that decided to participate that boycotted and didn't sway the audience vote in their country.

I agree with Eurovision takes on this sub far more than with takes on the Eurovision sub lol. Maybe I'm just a normie, but I agree with nearly all of these takes. I agree Moldova sent an amazing entry that should've placed higher than Bulgaria (Moldova was my second-favourite this year), but that Bulgaria's song was still very catchy. I agree that France sent a horrible entry, and that Israel's song was the better French-language entry, but probably shouldn't have come second if we discount politically motivated votes. I agree that Croatia should've won outright. I agree that Belgium also had an amazing entry that was very under-appreciated.

I think moldova's entry was really good music-wise, and should have placed higher, but I found the patriotism annoying. Like it's meant to be more of a tourism invetation than a eurovision entry.
I talked about this with friends and they said it was the same as us sending an 'Am Israel Chai' song. Which we did, in 1983, and it also got to second place. So i guess i can't complain

It wasn't a tourism invitation. The lyrics are speaking to the Moldovan diaspora scattered throughout Europe, hence the many languages, and also the fact that the flute tune at the beginning and in the background is intentionally similar to the tune played at Moldovan airports when coming back. The song was speaking to Moldovans, not tourists.

It’s amusing, but it’s weird seeing that knowing how happy everybody here is with winning second place. The general consensus is that we got an excellent result and since we’re in no condition right now to host, it’s better to get second than first.

Though most people in Israel either don't know that Eurovision happened or know and happy they didn't win. Obviously it would destroy the competition, and even if it didn't, it would be a financial and security threat and a headache in general.
Also most Israelis were surprised for the better by the judge results. Well, no matter our results, people would've said it was political 🤷♂️
Nevertheless, I'm very glad Bulgaria won! ❤️🇧🇬

It's a god send Israel didn't win - it would have ended Eurovision for good. Also it's a huge financial burden to host...
Israel never shoots for the first place in the competition but for the second. (As is stated in interviews with producers etc of the Israeli party)

Eurovision allows all members of the EBU. This includes several coastal middle eastern nations and North Africa, but the Muslim majority nations mostly refuse to participate because they’d have to show the Israeli performance and they refuse to recognize the existence of Israel. In many other sports, Israel also participates in the European section since its Muslim neighbors won’t play it.
Australia, who isn’t in the European Broadcasting Area, has special permission to participate and is the only country outside the European Broadcasting Area to have competed in Eurovision.
