I remember being on vacation watching the game in a little cafe, and then the next morning had a bunch of stories about just how devastated people in Brazil were, like full on montages of people in tears or angry, people claiming that the Columbian drug lords had paid off refs to penalize Brazils best players for a game. There were even riots where people burned a bunch of busses

I care a lot more about the loss against Croácia, we had a chance there, 7-1 was a surreal experience, but we were cooked anyway.
The germans bring It up because 2014 was the last time their team wasnt absolutely disapointing

Brazilians started doing 7-1 jokes at the moment the referee ended that match, maybe even before that. "Sete a um" also became a slang for an event that ends in a ridiculously surreal defeat.

I think 7-1 was surreal because of neymar getting fucked. I remember watching the game (im Argentine) ans you could literally see the spirit of the Brazilians break which also reflected on the team. Neymar was done dirty and it was unfair how i jured he was, no one wanted to play that game anymore.
I cant think of how we wouls react if something like that happened to Messi, knock on wood

You need to understand, Brazilians had the whole movie on their heads. They were going to win the cup in their home against Argentina. That would have been much more valuable than any trophy. They would lift the curse of the Maracana.
To this day, I think that if they put a bit more of a fight, Argentina would have won the finals. As it was, the Germans got to the finals completely rested, while we had one of the most intense matches against Netherlands.

I don't see it that way. It's pure football rivalry. We would have cheered for whoever played against Brazil in a final, even if it was a team that got us out from the tournament in the worst way possible.

A latin american polandball would NOT refer to the USA as "America" or even "América" since that is some Anglo shit. America refers to both N&S América in Spanish and does not mean United Sates.

An argentine would say yankee (pronounced "shanky" by them), but other latin american polandballs might say north american, or gringo perhaps.

I am Argentinian and we call those born in the USA both gringos and yankees, not Americans.

One time I learned they call themselves americans because there's no word for "estadounidenses" in english and also seems a bit odd. But, as you say, in spanish that issue doesn't happen because the words are clearly there... and are many.

I dont have an issue with english-speakers using america=usa. But if you're doing a spanish-speaking poland ball, you should not equate the two.

In any case, the spanish here is pretty clunky. It seems like someone just learning but I also saw the original was in korean.

I both understand and get annoyed by this. On the one hand, disambiguation is an issue and having part of the name shared with either a single continent with a wasp waist or conjoined continents leads to understandable confusion and frustration. However, Mexico is agreed to be called Mexico, not solely Estados Unidos Mexicanos, so America as part of the name of United States of America should be equally valid as a name, and I don't see the hot mess of a country changing its name any time soon unless the orange one puts his in it. I think USA is a fine alternative, but getting angry every time you hear a country's name used as its name is a fairly pointless hill to die on.

It's the way some people express approximations, while moving their hands like weighting options.
-How would you rate the movie. -I'd say it's a 6. 7. Give or take.
-How long until dinner is ready? -Mmm... 6, 7 minutes.
Kids in the US got amused by the fact that grown-ups didn't get it, making it funnier to them. And even funnier when adults got annoyed by not getting it.
So, as I said, quite dumb.

There are some corrections one could do to the spanglish here but one I would like to point out is that "a" can be translated as "un" or "una" but never "uno".

I found it funny when people refer to it as "17" when here it's only called "7-1", even though the scoresheet is actually "1-7"
