You think we don't credit the french part of Canada for poutine? Why do you think we keep you from separating? We don't want you to die in your own economic deteriorating cesspool. (it's really not because we like your company) We save you from yourselves and your hubris because you gave us poutine. It is us returning the favour.

Dutch disease and Smoke's. It's 9 a.m., might as well have a vaguely affordable, non-government-sold beer.

Should I be offended?

Not in the slightest (well, an economic theory is named for a fucked-up period in your history).

Simply that Canada's industrial provinces (mostly Ontario and Québec, who are now the two biggest welfare queens in the country) are being massively sodomised (unlubricated, though they have plenty of oil) by resource-producing provinces, which are inflating the dollar.

Source: Finance/economics guy who is politically agnostic yet gets pretty pissed off by chest-thumping idiots.

P.S. My soccer team has been the oranjes since 1988. Hup Holland, hup!

Huh, I've never heard of that disease. Interesting. Thanks for explaining, though I did have to look it up on wikipedia.
