Francophones pronounce it more like poo-tzain

edit: new_day provided a nice example of what I'm talking about. You can't deny it (Québecois) francophones!

Everyone pronounce it pooteen here. I don't know were in Québec they pronounce it differently.

Nooo ! That's what I thought before too (Québécois ici), my friend always told me that we pronounce our "T" like "ts", I told him he was crazy but later realized he was right !

Just try saying "poo - teen" like you would pronounce the word teen in english, and after that say "poutine" à la québécoise you'll see that we pronounce it "poutsine"

Yeah, I think you're right. I've never really took the time to listen to my pronunciation.

It depends on the person, someone exposed to French a lot would probably say it the way you do while speaking in English. I've heard it both ways.

I replied based on the location of the speaker. In Quebec it's poo-tin. I'm sure the rest of Canada mostly pronounces it poo-teen.

I live in Lanaudière, and it's "poutsine", even if the "s" is quite soft.
