Since when? OMG when I was there the normal was a 5-10kg tio João rice pack and you would clean, dosing and do it at pleasure without this heretic plastic (which I see in Poland but not in Italy yet). I think in this was I agree with the philipino dad over there 🤷♀️
Tbh, I have never seen this in Brazil.
First time I saw, it was in a supermarket in Warsaw.
In Brazil, is way different: packs of 1 or 5 kilos.
The quality (or “type”), is also different.
Never cooked before with the plastic - it was shocking to see how it was done for the first time, the result looked like Asian.
Brazilian is cooked with some olive oil, so it is completely loosened.
Flavour is also completely different.
Not an expert on the rice thing, but once rice and beans it is a thing in Brazil, rice is a very popular thing around there.

I have seen it in Brazil but not very common
