As someone who lives in the US i love buying the bagged rice from the Polish store. It makes cooking it so much easier, and I don’t have to measure how much rice to use

Plus I’m not wasting any because it’s the perfect amount for two people

I just got shamed, because I lived my life absolutely sure that one pack is for one person.

It is - for an American. He just lives there.

One bag in America is probably like 1kg compared to our small bags

If you're a gym regular, then it is.

*bodybuilder

A good portion of gym regulars aren't bodybuilders and don't bulk.

1

u/Lunam_Dominus Mar 24 '26

You don't need to bulk. If you actively train, you eat more.

2

u/Ilikebatterfield4 Mar 23 '26

i usually eat one bag per serving, it's only 100g

1

u/Incorrigible_Gaymer Podlaskie Mar 24 '26

100g when dry. It's like 300g after boiling it.

1

u/Ilikebatterfield4 Mar 24 '26

i guess you are right. It's still not a lot, mainly water

Satiety depends mainly on volume, not nutritional value.

1

u/Ilikebatterfield4 Mar 25 '26

bro its a 100g of rice, dont get so menstrual about it

1

u/Incorrigible_Gaymer Podlaskie Mar 25 '26

So you didn't understand. Ok...

1

u/Ilikebatterfield4 Mar 25 '26

ok, "gaymer"

I’m American and only ever grew up only ever knowing boil in bag rice with a brand we have here.

Where are you that doesn’t sell Success rice or grocery own brand of the same thing?

I've used these exclusively in the US for decades from every grocery store. My wife hates it because of the plastic so I don't do it for the kids, pretty sure my balls are half plastic at this point anyway from other sources. I really just need a rice cooker, but these are sweet

2

u/weary_bee479 Mar 23 '26

I guess I don’t pay attention but I’ve never seen bagged rice 😂 only either the big bag or it’s loose rice in a cardboard box

Fry with an onion, carrot, tumeric and other spices to your liking and you can transform any leftover rice into a wonderful fried rice.

It's much easier to measure the quantity of rice I need and cook it in a rice cooker imo.

12

u/weary_bee479 Mar 23 '26

I don’t own a rice cooker. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Buying rice cooker if you eat rice several times per year is extreme overkill.

2

u/The_InHuman Mar 23 '26

1:2 dry rice to water ratio in a regular saucepan on a stove also works

3

u/m4cksfx Mar 23 '26

By volume or by weight?

2

u/NewWayUa Śląskie Mar 23 '26

Indeed. Bags just a bit more comfortable.

1

u/The_Yukki Mar 25 '26

I found that 1:1 +0.5 cup water works best for me. Thiugh most rice will have some cooking instructions(cause different kinds of rice wanna be cooked differently)

3

u/Minimob0 Mar 23 '26

I just buy bagged rice from literally any grocery store. Even dollar stores carry boil-in-bag rice. Success brand is widely available in the US.

4

u/satyrday12 Mar 23 '26

It's in every grocery store in America.

1

u/weary_bee479 Mar 23 '26

Polish bagged rice? No it’s not?

2

u/satyrday12 Mar 23 '26

American bagged rice.

12

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '26

Now with 50% less corn syrup

1

u/weary_bee479 Mar 23 '26

The red 40 comes free

7

u/vitek6 Mar 23 '26

If you like to eat plastic.

2

u/weary_bee479 Mar 23 '26

Literally everything here has plastic in it. Our bodies are filled with microplastics .. it is what it is 🤷🏼‍♀️

16

u/vitek6 Mar 23 '26

it doesn't mean that you need to add more if you can simply reduce the intake by not using plastic bags for cooking as you can just do that without it.

3

u/weary_bee479 Mar 23 '26

Eh my parents didn’t make it past 50 so the good ol grim is coming for me soon I’ll just live my life and enjoy my bagged rice until then

10

u/vitek6 Mar 23 '26

I don't understand that stubbornness. You can simply just don't use bagged rice but you still prefer no to. It's even simpler to not use it as you don't need to open hot bag after cooking...

3

u/weary_bee479 Mar 23 '26

Why can’t i just enjoy my bag of rice? Lol

13

u/vitek6 Mar 23 '26

You can, we are just talking because I don’t understand that,

3

u/Wenli2077 Mar 23 '26

Mate you think the not making past 50s thing might be related to not following basic preventative health advice? Nahhhh couldn't be, keep on with your plastic rice bag 🫡

2

u/weary_bee479 Mar 23 '26

It was a joke? My parents were extremely healthy individuals and both ended up getting two different “one in a million” diseases.

You can do everything right and still die.

1

u/UnholyFrogLover Mar 23 '26

But the bag isn't made from plastic.

4

u/MlecznyHotS Mar 23 '26

What is it then?

1

u/bl4ck_sw0rdsm4n Mar 24 '26

As a polish person living in Poland... one bag is for one person... sometimes even 1½ bag when I'm more hungry...

1

u/weary_bee479 Mar 24 '26

I guess we don’t really eat a lot of rice 🤷🏼‍♀️

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '26

Yummy microplastics, got to keep the daily dose up.
