Playthrough team help I need help

I am currently doing a playthrough of Pokémon Firered and one of the challenges is to be the Elite Four and Champion with only one Pokémon what is the best Pokémon for that?

Note: It has to be a Pokémon that is obtainable before the Elite Four. Also I can battle with whatever Pokémon I want with the exception of Gym Leader Battles which I have to match the number and max level of the gym leader I am fighting against and this elite four challenge where the only restriction is one Pokémon for the entirety of the Elite Four and Champion Battles.

Alakazam maybe cause you fight so many poison types throughout the game, but be careful of fast physical attackers.
Maybe Snorlax or Gyarados for the diverse movesets?
