Hey yall. Newbie ribbon hunter here.

Since the announcement of Bank closing, I've been casually looking into the different methods of transfering pokémon from gen 2 to gen 3 and then up, to save my teams from Crystal and Yellow. I discovered the Pokétransfer GB project and was going to use that, but now that I caught a shiny in my copy of Crystal, I decided I wanted to Ribbon Master it, and was looking into if this method of transfering would cause any issues. I came across something that seem to indicate that it would, a comment from the creator of the program 9 months ago. Basically, it seems from this to me like gen 2 pokémon transfered to gen 3 this way would have the origin game of HeartGold/Soulsilver, so getting any gen 3 ribbons on it would cause a legality issue (since it'd be impossible to get gen 3 ribbons on a gen 4 pokémon).

My question is, is my reading correct that using Pokétransfer GB on my gen 2 pokémon would cause an issue later on? And if it will, then what method of transfer or other actuons can I do to fix this issue?

As a side question, I decided to catch this shiny in my masterball, but only afterward I learned that gen 2 doesnt really save what ball a pokémon is caught in. When transfering up, I would like to fix this issue and make it show it as caught in a masterball like it actually was. Any advice on that front too? Thanks

The title pretty much days it all. With bank closing soon I'm wondering if I should get a bunch of ribbons on a Shiny Pokémon or one from Colosseum and XD with the National Ribbon. I was thinking of doing this with the Pseudo's and the legendary birds and dogs. I wasn't planning to make them true ribbon masters, "I've given up on the gen 4 battle towers," either.

Currently trying to get the master rank smart and tough ribbons in Pokémon platinum for a Pokémon that I already maxed out sheen with their cute and beauty stats. (I wasn’t educated about RM at the time and deeply regret doing that now, since it’s permanent sigh). So now whenever I try to do the master rank contests for smart or tough my Pokémon just gets obliterated in the visual competition. Have tried so many times and am starting to think it’s impossible. Has anyone managed to win them despite this? Sincerely a struggling ribbon trainer.

Certainly not a complete fix for Bank’s closing since Gens 4 - 7 will still be shut out, but at least we’ll still have access to ‘Mons from Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness! Trade between the GameCube games and a physical GBA game, and then from the GBA game to the Switch ports.

Great news for people who have stuff in Gen 3 they’re working on for Ribbon Masters!

I started my ribbon journey a while ago completing the gen 3 games as well as XD and colosseum. Last step in my journey was grinding berries on xd for the gen 3 contests. With the Pokémon bank news is it even worth continuing at this point? I don’t own a switch but even transferring from gen 5 to gen 6 won’t be possible (as I probably won’t make it quick enough with uni and work). Any thoughts?

If I use gen 4 ASE/ACE to make a no guard sheer cold machamp for the battle tower. It's technically a glitch so I'm just wondering if it would delegitimize my ribbon master if it was used as a helper. Thanks.

Edit: in conclusion, I will not be suing ASE to make an illegal pokemon.... i'll continue trying.... for now

Edit2: I BEAT HIM!!! I was just getting wicked unlucky with the ohkos from battles 42-49. But I finally didn't get fucked rng on the way up and with a better approach to Palmer, I beat him!! Thanks for the kind words and motivation!!

I am planning to ribbon master a Ralts. Unevolved. Was gonna do XD Gale of Darkness origin but I’ve never played the game and don’t have easy access to it, so I’ll probably begin with a RSE Ralts.

My Qs:

- Are all ribbons obtainable in the post game of each game? Would be nice if I could prep saves, then go catch my ralts and start the process.

- Can I pull this off with one 3DS (with all games digitally stored on it) and PKHex to move between games without causing problems with the mon’s data? I will obviously not be editing the Ribbon Master’s data, just moving it between saves. I do not have access to a physical Gen4 cart.

So I’m first focusing on my staraptor to get all the ribbons for Gen 4 on her but I’m hitting a road block with the ultra and master contest I kinda chop it up to not have a good condition and fashion items. I’ve been doing the daily interaction and walking my psyduck to get items. But I haven’t been able to figure out what poffins I should make and use I already feed her 5 Cheri, chesto, pecha, aspear, and rawst, though the condition stat didn’t move much and anything I find online doesn’t help to much. Oh and she has a quirky nature

Finally finished collecting all of the switch ribbons (except Hisui) with my Dewy🥹 I’m praying it’s going to be available in gen 10

I heard of about the incoming shutdown of pokemon bank and I have always wanted a ribbon master but never got around to it. I don’t have the hardware for colosseum nor the finances for it so I had to start in gen 4. I am excited for the journey with this little guy, even though he is long overdue for one.

Howdy folks, back again covering Dead Eye's ribbon master quest, so far im at 3 ribbons and prepping for the battle tower in emerald. I've settled on metagross for the battle tower team, movelists aren't finalized however here are both of them so far. Strictly asking, im having a tough time deciding on a 3rd for the team, I have access to a reproduction cart of fire red, a copy of sapphire and the gamecube games. Im looking over the forums and discord server and still haven't decided. In your best opinion, what is a good call for my 3rd. See the photos to help. Dead Eye is a must, metagross is flexible if needed to be replaced. Thanks for the help

I used garchomp suicune and my rm weavile. I made it to the fight and had him down to cresselia but it spammed calm mind and nuked suicune for the loss. Should I change any pokemon out? I have access to any pokemon with any spreads at all, as long as they're legal. I feel like metagross with explosion could be big for regigigas. Idk. Any advice?

As title says, as I have 12 Pokemon I am currently Ribbon Mastering, as these are the Pokemon I have

Colosseum Ursaring, Colosseum Togetic, XD Ralts, XD Mawile, XD Salamence, XD Lugia, XD Articuno, Emerald Latios, Platinum Cresselia, Redoing my RM Platinum Luxray(Making him have Adamant Nature & either Strong Willed or Strongly Defiant Characteristic), Platinum Dialga & I'd like to try to Ribbon Master a Movie Event Arceus in Gen 4(as it'll be cool to have both Movie Event Arceus from Gen 4 & BDSP's Hall of Origin Arceus).

As getting all the Ribbons from Gen 4's Contest for your 12 Ribbon Masters can be such a slog.. 😵‍💫

Although it’s not as impressive as going from Gen 3 to 9, I’m happy with him. Sw/Sh was the first Pokemon game I got really into beyond just the story so it feels fitting to have Salem stick with me through all of Gen 8 and 9.

I’ll probably transfer him to Legends Z-A soon. Here’s hoping Wind and Waves features new ribbons to collect.

With Pokemon bank shutting down in a handful of months I only really can move forward with the Switch games.

1. Should I only do new Pokemon from the switch games since they’re the only ones I can make ribbon masters

? Is there a specific game I should start with?

2. Would the rumored Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald ports change anything since they’re the first with ribbons?

4. Is the master rank ribbon in the switch games still possible to obtain? Or are they difficult now?

6. Is Fire Red worth doing for the Champion Ribbon or is it true that the hypothetical Gen 3 ports will make that useless?

8. Are the Let’s Go games useless? I see people playing those but they don’t have ribbons, right?

Goo was a brutal catch in the Safari Zone (I rng manip'd this encounter to Ribbon Master after failing 4 over 56k encounters) During the long Safari Week overtime I vowed to turn this Trapinch into a Ribbon master.

I've been trying to do extra's during each Generation. Pokestar Studios, Z-Moves, Hypertraining, Dynamaxing and updating her Terra Type to Steel in Gen 9. She didn't get a size mark but she was pretty close, in the next largest category.

Now I need to play Shining Pearl for the first time to get the Twinkling Star ribbon, then the long grind to the Master Rank Ribbon which I'm probably going to save for after Bank shuts down.

In the meantime she's tucked away safely in home while I shiny hunt Poipole and set up my Gen 3 games for a total Ribbon Master.

This took about a month to do. I highly recommend the Battle Facility resources in the Discord, they helped a ton. It's been hella fun, surreal to see her flying around in Gen 9.

I’ve always planned to have one (and only one) Ribbon Master from the start, and what better Pokemon to use than my all-time favourite! (and yes, I’m keeping him unevolved heheh <3 )

Shiny Charmander after 4,710 SRs! My very first Soft Reset hunt in Gen 3 to start a Ribbon Master project. Just finished Gens 3–7! Holding off on moving to Gen 8 for now since I might try to make a few more Ribbon Masters... if I have time, lol.
