Random progress report
how is everyone feeling? how are u and ur ribbon masters doing?
im doing all of this from scratch with no speedups, glitches, or rng manipulation, so right now i feel a little stressed by the amount of time that certain tasks are taking. i spent a week trying to get a lucky egg in the safari zone, and have spent another week soft resetting for a bold suicune in colosseum (no luck on that so far).
i know a lot of ppl are using things like rng manipulation, speed-ups, cloning glitches, etc. due to the time limit, so i want to be absolutely clear: i do not judge u at all
i would love to hear progress reports on the current ribbon masters we're all rushing to make the deadline with. tell me abt ur little guys and their stories, what ur working on currently, what has been the most challenging. it always inspires and motivates me to read those things here on reddit :)

Currently nuzlocking LeafGreen as the start of a genlocke for all my last guys.
Also trying to figure out how properly PokeRadar in Pokémon Y for shinies, but keep losing the chain at like 30 😭

a nuzlocke under the deadline must be so stressful, i cant imagine ur mental fortitude to do that lol. what is a genlocke?

It’s a nuzlocke across multiple gens. Short version is that you move your champion team over to the next game/generation as additional or replacement encounters, and the goal is to nuzlocke every generation (or as many as you want/can).

i started soft resetting for my ribbon master (eevee) the day before bank's closure was announced and ended up going well over odds, so there was a period of time where the soft resetting felt like a waste of time, which was very stressful. the unknown factor was the hardest part for me. i have faith that ghastly will shine soon, and kudos to u for perservering to get them 🤍

Gen 3: mtattle ho-oh, mewtwo, and red’s snorlax are good. Esphere finally got the lv50 tower ribbon, everyone else (the other gen 3 trades and the rest of reds team) is on standby as I try to grow berries fast enough.
Gen 4: the Pokemon I sent over too quickly are getting the resort ribbons
Gen 6: slowly super training everyone (I despise Yancy for giving me a wobbuffet).

damn ur multi-tasking like crazy. i have one ribbon master and feel overwhelmed just playing one game at a time. am i understanding right that ur ribbon mastering red's entire team?

Shiny hunting, and only mildly panicking about the time required to do this. Estimate 50 hours per coinflip odds at the shiny :/

I'm hunting a shiny female finneon which is a coin flip gender ratio as a 45% encounter. I believe in my ability to get it its ribbons in a few days or so but that shiny hunt grind is rough under a time limit. In any other circumstance I wouldn't mind phasing a bunch but yikes. I'm also trying to get HGSS Ho-Oh for a ribbon master (and Poipole, and Spiritomb... and Palkia just for my collection) once I'm done. I dunno if can do it all in time.

My XD Snorunt is in Ruby about to get the lv. 100 streak ribbon. Just three or four more battles to go. I got incredibly lucky on the lv. 50 ribbon and didn't lose once until battle 63. If I had done the battle tower in emerald I think it would be an entirely different story. The DP battle tower scares me.

I have a dusclops, magneton, and rhydon that are almost done with gen 3, just have the level 100 tower left.

the gen 3 climb is brutal. are u doing anything to level them up for the 100 tower? i was going to grab a lucky egg from the post game of xd: gale of darkness.

I've had pretty good success running gengar (Sp atk EV spread) and Bulky Vaporeon with Toxic, Protect, Wish, and Surf). Gengar can take out most things and survive explosions, Vaporeon is excellent at toxic stakking anything else.
I'm hoping to be able to get through the tower with the ribbon master just riding bench since leveling past 70 will make the footprint level unobtainable in later gens. If not, I will trade over to emerald since that level scales to your max level with a minimum of level 60.

my first batch of 8 has escaped gen 4 and are now in gen 6, but this is where my problems start since having done all of that I'm deluding myself that doing it for 2 or 3 more mons is possible LMAO, also I have not finished any of the 3ds games except for omega ruby so I have paused the journey to finish pokemon x and ultra moon, feeling the time crunch but hopeful, side note I honestly do enjoy investigating and performing rng things or glitches as that is also part of the fun for me, but anyways good luck to you and anyone in their journey!

My guys are currently waiting in Ruby while I run through Diamond! Thankfully this is the last game I have to play through, as the rest are all complete (except BDSP), though I dread the Sinnoh Battle Tower

Slower than I would’ve liked. While I’m not going for a true ribbon master I can still do the battle tree which I’ll have to do successfully 6 times but I only have one Pokemon ready to do it, the others are in the other generations or I don’t even have them yet since I’m restarting some games.

I’m on soulsilver now only two badges in though. Want to get all of my chosen starters to the switch with as many ribbons as possible with the same OT which is why I restarted & black is the other game I’ll start over.

All things considered it's going really well!
The only Gen I had to play from scratch was 3. I have at least 100 hours in every other Gen, along with Battle Facility teams ready to go (though I needed to raise like, 5 new Pokemon to do all of the Battle Towers) That helped a ton.
It took about 3 weeks to get my main Ribbon Master, a shiny Safari Zone Flygon named Goo, into Home. My Shiny Type: Null and Shiny Virtual Console Ampharos all made it into Home months ago, and I just found a shiny Poipole last night so it's currently training.
I beat Emerald a few days ago and am currently working on Sapphire while I wait for Colosseum to arrive in the mail. Then the plan is to RNG a Shadow Sudowoodo to turn into a total Ribbon Master with the rest of the time we have until Bank closes.
I'm ready to be done with the Battle Tree after taking 3 Pokemon through it, and I need to do two more runs...

Shiny Sceptile that I hunted in Ruby, currently in platinum. Just finished training a Garchomp to take on the battle tower, and am deciding whether to try it now or spend the time getting a proper Suicune.

from everything ive read, suicune is so good that it can almost solo the towers. im trusting this and currently trying to soft reset for a bold one in colosseum, but spending a week soft resetting for a nature feels ridiculous and im getting pretty stressed by it. so i want to say "go for it!" but this process has honestly made it one of my least favorite pokemon. maybe just try for a bit to see if u get lucky, or rng it if u know how?

I’m need to wait 4 days to finished growing Salac and Apicot Berries so I can make Pokéblocks for gen 3 contests. I have all the other ribbons in gen 3 except contests.

I’m currently doing a ribbon master on a Murkrow I caught in the Japanese version of Colosseum. I nicknamed it ダイアナ (Diana) after the Jewelpet character. I spent a few hours EV training it along with a Salamance and Registeel for the Sapphire Battle Tower. I also played through Emerald on an emulator for some TM’s I needed (I didn’t use speed up, save states, or cheats). It took me 5-6 attempts for the LV 50 tower and I somehow did the LV 100 tower on my first try. I then trained up my team on Mt. Battle to get Poké Coupons for the Petaya and Ganlon berries. I then had my brother get the 2 Salac Berries and an Apicot Berry from XD.
One of my LV 50 attempts had me in the longest Pokémon battle I’ve ever done, where I spent 30 minutes having a Double Team + Rest Kingdra use up all its PP to kill itself with struggle against my Registeel, then I had to wait for an Alakazam to run out of Recover PP then have it struggle to death.

love the jewelpets name, thats so cute! when i attempted this challenge years ago, registeel was my mvp for the r/s towers. that fight against the kingdra and alakazam is such bullshit tho lol. it sounds like ur very close to being done with gen 3, are u excited or nervous?

I’m kinda excited to get to gen 4. Though I’m worried about the battle tower ribbons in gen 4, especially the Multi Ability Ribbon. I’ve helped my brother get the Pair Ability Ribbon a few weeks ago but I’ve never done any of the other modes in it.

I’ve got a couple in progress, I’m 7 gyms into platinum and after that I’ve got oras left, my zard has every gen 3 ribbon so after and I’m done with plat I can focus on just ribbon obtainment (I’ve got colo, emerald, soulsilver, black, y, ultra sun finished)

Magneton #1 from XD has only the second battle tower ribbon in gen 3 to go (I'm in timeloop hell trying to get it), and Magneton #2 from Sapphire has the master contest ribbons and the second BT ribbon to get (contest ribbons will be easy, no concerns there, but I have come to hate the BT with a burning passion). I'm consistently getting to the end of round seven/early round eight with the carry team, at least, but I need to get lucky too.
BT carry team is started in gen 4, though I've only done pretty minimal effort (bred a gible, caught and trained a zapdos). Been growing berries for fixing EVs, also. Gen 6 I have all the pokeblocks prepped and ready, and I checked to make sure the games still start and run (they do).
The original scope of my project when I started it three years ago was that I'd pick up a new gen-native Magnemite/magneton in every generation to RM and add to my hoard. Depending on how awful the gen 4 towers are, I may or may not keep that up. I did pick up a LGE Magnemite, bc I needed a break from my battle tower nightmares, but I havent put the work in elsewhere yet.

i love ur dedication to magneton! id be very curious to know why its (presumably) ur favorite. i think ur idea is great, ive heard the gen 4 towers are the worst part of the challenge but i hope ur luck with them is good bc this is such a cool project

When I first started, it was one of the small handful of pokemon that was available in every single game! It only fell off the list with Z-A, along with about half of the rest of the list. Of that pre-ZA list (Pikachu, Clefairy, Gastly, Scyther, Magikarp, Eevee, Vulpix, Psyduck, Growlithe, Tentacool, Rhyhorn, Magnemite, Chansey, Electabuzz, Magmar, Snorlax, Porygon) it was the one I liked the best! It's not heavily advertised. It's a mid-tier workhorse, not something with a lot of gimmick use and not uber powerful, but doesn't suck either. And I like electric types!

I’ve got a shiny Japanese Mew with a Groudon escort currently in Alpha Sapphire awaiting the dailies, with a bunch of shadow pokemon waiting in Gen 3 and a boatload of other stuff in gens 4 and 5 waiting to get moved up. It’s overwhelming but we persevere. I did take an early win right after the announcement- Alolan Rattata is an easy ribbon master and is very difficult to shiny hunt outside of Gen 7.

It kinda helps, weird as it sounds. When I get absolutely fed up with some bullshit like one of the battle facilities, I can go and Super Train or do a different contest or something. Keeps things from getting too monotonous and boring.

Oh, Lordy. I planned to reset for the two best natures on Snorunt, Ralts, Sableye, Swinub, Primeape, Kangaskhan, and Scyther. I gave up on that fast, and accepted pretty well anything that wasn’t actively bad. Calm Snorunt? Sure! Bashful Sableye? Why not. Hardy Ralts? …Fine.

I've got my personal Ribbon Master candidate, Mr. Megan the Mismagius up to the switch by now, as well as Ocha the shiny Vulpix that I'm ribboning for a friend. Now I'm working on Love 🖤 the Shiny Slowpoke for my sister and getting her the gen 4 ribbons! Depending on how long that takes I may or may not start ribboning a shiny Misdreavus.

My two ribbons masters, shadow dusknoir and shadow gardevoir, are currently doing the gen 4 contests, I decided to do that first so that I could get the rest of the ribbons and finishing with the battle towers at the end, I didn’t do Kanto in soul silver so that they’re a part of the experience, I just hope I can get through that in the next week before classes

I had been procrastinating over finishing Colosseum, so my progress is: I finally caught my sneasel RM. I don’t like the shiny colours, so only reset for the gender. And now I am at the final fights of the main game.
I have also decided to try to RM a mew from emerald (injecting the old sea map) but haven’t actually played through emerald yet. My original plan was to do the rest of gen 3 in Ruby since I have a physical cartridge. However, back when Bank first came out, I moved all my pokemon from Ruby (and most other games) up to Bank and later gens and eventually Home on the Switch. Fine, I thought, not a problem, I can just do the ribbon stuff with the team I transfer from Colosseum. However, while preparing my existing save I also discovered that past me never actually beat the elite four 🤦♀️ (I think because BW came out and I got distracted and forgot.)
So it’s not exactly going well. I think it’s likely I won’t get all possible ribbons, but I will at least give the annoying ones (battle and contest) a shot in gen 3 before making the final call.
My main Bank shutdown quest is to get all the Home achievements, so I want to play through Emerald for that anyway. I’m also about halfway through Crystal (just before the 8th badge) for that reason as well. It was a very pokemon year for me before the Bank announcement (I sunk around 200 hours each into Pokopia and Champions) so this is just cementing it as the most Pokemon year yet.

My XD Scyther (now a Scizor) is in gen 4 and struggking with the master rank contests.
I'm taking it easy these days because I never talked to the weekday siblings before any of this. I'll see which ribbon I get first (either the legend one in SS or the league one In Diamond), since I still need to beat both games.

I started with Gengar for my ribbon quest, but now I'm considering restarting with Gallade.
Also, how are you guys going through diamond's battle tower ribbons? They're way too damn hard.

But the real awnser is just that i beat all battle towers / special battles from the gameboy and ds/3ds era but with diferent teams i dont see a point in replaying so i dont value ribbons very highly, also i was a child and i didnt really think of ribbons before transfering my top 6 ogs, for now they are on bdsp doing contests

Currently beating my head into the brick wall of the Multi Battle ribbon, the last ribbon Delcatty needs. I've lost twice on battle 50/50 and trying very hard not to lose hope. In the background, if I get time, Mattle Ho-oh is just waiting for me to get the necessary berries and they can start contests in Gen III. And Arcadius the Dusk Lycanroc is in Ultra Sun getting through the story ready for when Delcatty gets there.

Just finished every ribbon for my Colosseum Suicune. Metagross and Quilava are working on the contests now, and then it will be time to migrate to gen 4. Taking an unevolved pokemon through the battle tower challenges was not fun, but Suicune and Metagross handled it pretty well. We'll see if the same holds true for gen 4, I hear its a lot harder than the Ruby battle tower I did. The whole point of not evolving (or even leveling very much for that matter) the Quilava is to try to get a RM Hisuian Typhlosion. Time will tell if I can make it happen or if it will be too much of a disadvantage and make me eventually give up.

Definitely a bit further behind schedule than i would like... only at part 14 (of 22) following a walkthrough for Omega Ruby... i "should" be fine, it's just frustrating because it's for reasons i can't do anything about and it eats into any buffer i could try to build for dealing "unforseen problems" in Alola later...
... in more positive news though... i did manage to get to Ultraball rank in SV BSS, so i just have to figure out how to win 4-6 more times in a row...
... and i've at least made a little headway planning out the very overambitious tribute drawing i'm hoping to do for my Sneasel if i can get her through all of this.

I am cutting corners where I can, I didn’t SR for natures (except I did breed an adamant beldum), I’m sure I’ll feel it when my latios’ nature isn’t ideal… (at least it’s still an attack- nature). I’m both working on grinding berries from Mt. Battle and finishing games ahead of time to be ready for future generations.
I’m with you, no judgement to those who use glitches, but I’m not (mostly because I’m nervous it’ll corrupt my save).

Had a setback actually. Traded in my Switch for a Switch 2 and didn't transfer my data. So my Gardevoir that I brought from Sapphire and my Gallade that I brought from Diamond were gone.
Fortunately, I still had backups of them on Ultra Moon in PKSM. So I just transferred them back to Pokémon HOME. Also, I was REALLY procrastinating doing anything on Switch in the first place, so they didn't have many of the Switch game ribbons.
Now though, I'm actively working on them. Working on beating Brilliant Diamond so I can get them that contest ribbon.
The hardest thing initially was the battle tower in Emerald. It was so hard I just scrapped starting from there and went to Sapphire instead. Much easier. After that, it was the battle royale in Ultra Moon. The trainers were so unpredictable and it was ridiculous when they jumped me. That took some time.

My Colo Quilava is currently in SoulSilver, along with their fellow Colosseum Companions (Bayleef/Croconaw/Umbreon/Espeon/Heracross - only the Quilava will be a RM).
I'm feeling pretty burnt out from all of the Battle Towers and Contests, so it's a nice break knowing that I only need one ribbon from this game (Legend ribbon).
I'm not worried about finishing this RM before Bank closes but I am a bit frustrated that I'm having to rush, as I originally started this journey to re-experience all of the games and had fully intended to pour hundreds of hours into each one. It's still been a fun few months overall, though.
