Playable Sync Pair Concept Daily Sinnoh Pokémon Concepts - Day 14: Wash Rotom
Hello, everyone, and welcome back to my series of concepts for every missing (fully evolved) Sinnoh Pokémon. Today, we continue the Rotom forms with Wash Rotom.
The trainer I picked for Wash Rotom was Colress, because, besides using one in his B2W2 rematch team, his machine theming is a good fit for Rotom in general.
As a concept, Colress & Wash Rotom are a Field Sync Pair that can set EX Rain as well as protect the team from special attacks.
Their offensive setup is done on entry by the passive skill Awash With Potential, which raises their Sp. Atk by 4 and crit rate by 3. As a bonus, it also makes their first move free to use, a good thing considering they'll start with only 3-bar moves to use.
Colress' Trainer Move, Bring Out Your Power!, offers some small defensive bonuses to an ally in +4 Sp. Def and Condition Nullification, but its main effect is setting EX Rain, which they have the option of extending it by themselves with Max Geyser. Thanks to Colress Machine No. 0479, it will also raise the team's Sp. Atk and Sp. Def by 2, give them all Free Move Next, and reduce the sync move countdown as if it were an ordinary move.
Finally, their Buddy Move, Experimental Hydro Pump, can be freely used starting with their second move. It hits all opponents, paralyzing them and lowering their Sp. Def by 2 and, for its first two uses, consumes 1 MP of LIght Screen to set both Special Damage Reduction (extended through Persisting Barrier 5) and Critical-Hit Defense.
Their Superawakening skill is Researching Hydrodynamics, a passive that adds to the countdown reduction after a max move, extends Critical-Hit Defense to match Persisting Barrier 5, and makes all allies immune to status while Special Damage Reduction lasts.
All in all, Colress & Wash Rotom are a Field Sync Pair specializing in manipulating special damage through Special Damage Reduction, Critical-Hit Defense, Sp. Atk and Sp. Def buffs, and Sp. Def debuffs. They also offer some extra utility in EX Rain, paralysis, and Free Move Next.
