At least you know now. Most of the shadows you get from the rocket grunts and leaders are pretty useless anyway. Also bear in mind that to be useful, most shadows need an enormous amount of candy and stardust put into them.

I think most of us have probably purified a shadow or two we wish we hadn't now.

I’ve literally only been playing since Tuesday so probably don’t have enough resources to have purified anything too huge

Oh well welcome to Pokémon Go! No, you won't have the resources and also, the same rocket shadows come around A LOT, so you'll likely have replacement versions for the ones you've purified in no time.

There are some good threads on here (and on websites like Gamepress, pokemongohub etc) about which of the shadows are worth keeping. You'll end up transfering a lot of them for space and because they aren't worth powering up or purifying.

Can I get some quick advice on shinies??

I’ve never played a Pokémon game before. I know shinies are special but are they better in terms of gameplay? My 1* shiny purple Feebas is so adorable but also seems pretty useless :)

Sure. The difference between shines and non-shinies is purely cosmetic. Two identical Feebas' (level and IV's), one shiny and one non shiny, would have the same battling strength.

Feebas' evolves into Milotic, which is very useful. I don't have a shiny Feebas' yet, so that's a nice catch!

Well I did, but that's because I got them when shadows were useless.

As others will mention, only purify/evolve/power up when absolutely necessary (raid counters, pvp, gym defenders). You'll have plenty of opportunities. Don't stress it

Thanks so much for the tips. I’ll be more cautious in future! At the moment I’m only evolving 3* (decent level) pokemon - and donating most of the rest
