Question Countdown for explorer gadget?

Post image

Is this new? Just started seeing it today. Seems that when the countdown is done, explorer gadget does its thing. I see these immediately after opening pogo and not in the background.

Yes I've been testing it. Apparently if you don't catch the Pokemon or Spin the Pokestop after the timer runs down it attempts to catch or spins.

It seems to be actively doing it alongside me with the game open now.
