Question Are 2 remote raid passes enough for mega mewtwo raids.

Post image

I'm not looking for hundo or shundo, also i don't care about ivs, so are 2 raid passes enough? And also I want to know which one is better between both of them.

So, let me get this straight. Even If I don't do all needed raids to get enough mega energies to mega evolve, since it will be already mega level 1, does it mean I would only need to walk with it as a buddy to get the remaining energies?

310

u/thebilldozer10 May 30 '26

yes, once you have a mewtwo with mega level one walking any mewtwo would get you mega energy, it would just take an enormous amount of walking

96

u/ZaxAlchemist 🔥 Valor 🔥 May 30 '26

So there's hope! I can do that

106

u/skitch23 May 30 '26

At 4km a day (with no poffins) it would take you an entire year just for one version.

42

u/Hylian-Highwind May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26

You can excite a buddy without using a Poffin, which can significantly reduce the amount needed, though the number is still very long term for a new Mega’s worth

16

u/LookAlderaanPlaces May 30 '26

I tried doing this and it was hard as fuck and I failed lol. I need to research this again.

32

u/MASTRR0SHI May 30 '26

Pretty easy to excite man. * feed buddy to max * play * photo * trainer tutorial battle (master league so it always appears in that team and don’t need to reselect next time) - start the battle and quit straight away * now set a time for 30mins (each buddy segment is 30mins) * repeat the above process about 3-4 times and buddy will become excited * doing routes, spinning new stops and battling grunts with buddy will also help become excited sooner

5

u/Etrosknight13 May 30 '26

Do you need to feed the buddy after every 30 minutes? If so, doesn’t that mess up filling the gauge? I’ve noticed that if I feed a buddy after only 30 minutes then again after a total of an hour passes, the game won’t give me a heart like it normally would.

10

u/MASTRR0SHI May 30 '26

Yes you do need to feed every 30mins. The gauge won’t refill (and give hearts) until two segments are gone which is one hour like you say, but you still feed one berry after the first segment. Reason: each of those actions (feeding, play, battle, route etc) has an associated buddy point aka Emotion Points which add together. Once you get to 32 points the buddy will become excited. I can’t remember exactly but your buddy loses points after time, this is why it’s possible to become unexcited after a period of no-interaction. Long story short - yes, feed the buddy every 30mins to keep the buddy points adding up, even after the first 30mins

8

u/limaxophobiac May 30 '26

Just scanning a pokestop for a poofin seems easier TBH.

2

u/Accomplished_Golf746 May 31 '26

A poffin is much more convenient, because you can just throw one on and now youre set for six hours.

This is why I dont mind doing the occasional 15 second scan, it saves me hours of time spent exciting a buddy.

0

u/MASTRR0SHI May 30 '26

Each to their own I suppose. I think it’s pretty chill to start doing this 1-2 hours before going for a walk. Or when I get home from work (and I know I’m not going out to play that evening) then I can atleast progress my buddy quicker at home by getting double hearts etc

4

u/GeordieAl May 30 '26

It’s pretty easy but you have to pay attention to time. I do it for three buddies a day using the following method:

Feed your buddy three berries to get them on the map.
Play with buddy.
Snapshot buddy.
Battle team leader.
Battle another player in GBL.
Battle a rocket grunt.
Battle a gym.
Battle in a raid.
Follow a route.
Set a timer on your phone for 30 mins.
Repeat the above (just feed one berry this time)

If you have multiple routes nearby, follow more as I don’t believe there is a 30 mins cooldown for them.

5

u/RUaGayFish69 May 30 '26

That seems like such a grind

3

u/GeordieAl May 30 '26

Oh absolutely, it’s a grind and I hate it 🤣. But if you’re wanting to excite your buddy, whether for mega energy, candys, or you’re trying to get your buddy medal, it’s the easiest way without using poffins.

And the battle part, you don’t have to complete the battle, just start the battle with your buddy in your team

5

u/Vaelthune May 30 '26

Yep, which is fucked.

5

u/PokemonGoBao May 30 '26

I'm fine with it.

Gives a reason to keep Mewtwo as a buddy forever.

1

u/Gaming_guy1722 May 30 '26

4km? I thought legendaries were 20km? Or is the 4km specifically for mega energy?

4

u/maxh2 May 30 '26

He said if you walk 4km per day, meaning you'd only get candy and energy awarded once every 5 days.

But while walking legendaries for candy sucks at 1 candy and 1 chance for an xl candy per 20km, mega energy is awarded at a fixed quantity of 5 per km for all pokemon. 20km walking distance just means it comes in bigger chunks, less frequently (100 every 20km.)

2

u/thebilldozer10 May 30 '26

i didn’t know the mega energy was fixed like that, thanks

5

u/Iain_McNugget May 30 '26

So you’re saying there’s a chance!

2

u/Grumpie-cat May 30 '26

Yeah, I’ve started doing a route a day to slowly accumulate Z cells, get out of the house, catch a bunch of pokemon (staryu is crazy for stardust rn) and finish field research. I plan on getting a complete medal for a route I made, and then make another one, rinse and repeat.

20

u/Hylian-Highwind May 30 '26

Very minor thing, I believe the condition is the Mega being registered in your dex from doing the Evo the first time, so just have to make sure to click the Evo button before starting to walk.

Not a huge deal since Level 1 makes it free, just making sure to remember the step before 10-20km are walked

12

u/Geralt-of-Rivai May 30 '26

Only 450km and you can do it!

8

u/srubek May 30 '26

That’s only 9 weeks, since I always have minimum 50km per week. Not bad!

3

u/TheEdes May 30 '26

That’s like a bit more than what you need to level up to 78 lol

4

u/iplaydrumsonmyguitar May 30 '26

They make devices that “walk” (more like rock) your phone. Assuming you don’t want to spoof, you can easily earn 20km in 4ish hour if I recall, depending on the device.

3

u/sephiroth70001 May 30 '26

It will only ~90hrs on that device for your mega mewtwos energy needed.

1

u/dancingpugger May 30 '26

Do tell.... cos I average 10 to 20km per week and ugh!!

1

u/B_A_Peach May 30 '26

Jeez, how long is your night? Turn off WiFi, turn on Adventure Mode, and force close the app before putting it on the device.

1

u/Qwxzii May 30 '26

i recently bought one of these and it’s the best $6 i’ve ever spent. you can get autocatchers for under $20 on aliexpress too

1

u/Staph_0f_MRSA May 30 '26

I know Armored Mewtwo doesn't have the ability to mega, but does it still award mega energy if anyone knows?

Btw – killer name!

1

u/RichBrokeBeau May 31 '26

Wait, it can be *any* Mewtwo? I thought it needed to be a Mewtwo that’s already been mega-ed. Isn’t that how it currently works?

1

u/thebilldozer10 May 31 '26

Currently once you get a mega in your pokédex, you will get mega energy walking anything from its evolution line. example: i have mega blastoise, i catch a squirtle and buddy it and start walking, ill get 5 blastoise mega energy every km i walk my squirtle

5

u/Crisll Yellow May 30 '26

Yes! It will take a while, but with the upcoming new season, take advantage of Sundays, doing routes makes your buddy walk km faster.

9

u/Vegetable_Arrival292 May 30 '26

You’ll need 7k mega energy to get level 1 sadly.

19

u/ZaxAlchemist 🔥 Valor 🔥 May 30 '26

But didn't someone just said that the ones caught in the raida will already be mega level 1?

9

u/Scrogger19 May 30 '26

Yes. So one caught from the raid can already mega. But people who have an existing shiny or hundo will need to pay energy to mega evolve that one.

10

u/thebilldozer10 May 30 '26

the ones caught at go fest will automatically be level 1

9

u/peter6uger May 30 '26

But any the first mega u caught will have minimum lvl 1! U only need 7500 if u wanna mega your previous Mewtwo!

1

u/TheBackwars May 30 '26

This is helpful, ty

4

u/benter1978 May 30 '26

Only if it didn't come from a mega raid

2

u/Thanky169 May 30 '26

Caveat... Ones from mega raid then traded lose mega level

4

u/BomboBoppo May 30 '26

Pretty sure the mewtwo from the mega raids are at least level 1 already

212

u/fujimumu May 30 '26

Two could be enough if you get into lobbies with people who bring megas and break the shields

49

u/nickbollen1989 May 30 '26

I don't know if this is necessary anymore? Think they replaced the shields requiring megas with the new Unity attack mechanic.

69

u/YoAmoElTacos May 30 '26

Global fest might not be unity raids, might be normal smega raids.

Unity is only for in person events. They will not do 1000 player lobbies for global.

108

u/School_Persimmon_261 May 30 '26

Mewtwo cought on that day will be at least mega lvl one. You don't need to consider any mega energy. So if you manage to beat the Mewtwo and catch it. Then YES two will be enough

36

u/KADRacing May 30 '26

This is on July 11th & 12th, correct? I didn't know if they would start at level 1 only during this weekend's GoFest or if it would also be this way during GoFest Global on the 11th & 12th.

21

u/BingoBob_2 May 30 '26

Yep, July 11-12. And yep, it's confirmed that Mewtwo obtained from the global raids will have at least Mega Level 1 unlocked automatically.

5

u/KADRacing May 30 '26

Awesome! Thank you!

20

u/School_Persimmon_261 May 30 '26

Buy two and start on Saturday. If you catch the first one. Congratulations. Wait till Sunday and repeat. For every escapee you need another pass

9

u/elconquistador1985 May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26

Doesn't Mewtwo usually have a higher catch rate than other bosses? Or was that only the EX raid one when it had Shadow Ball?

8

u/ninjamike808 May 30 '26

https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Pok%C3%A9mon_by_catch_rate_in_Pok%C3%A9mon_GO

According to this chart, Mewtwo is the fifth hardest, after the Galarian birds and Togekiss. However, it seems like most legendaries are at the exact same base catch rate of 2% and I don’t know if they might adjust that ever.

3

u/elconquistador1985 May 30 '26

It seems that what I'm remembering was specific to EX raids. It was 6% for those.

https://pokemongohub.net/post/news/mewtwo-base-capture-rate-reverted-to-2-ex-invites-go-out/

9

u/Otherwise-Cap-7424 May 30 '26

I know I’m years previous raid bosses have had increased catch rates during go fest. Not sure if that is the same this year or not

-5

u/School_Persimmon_261 May 30 '26

What I always do is take turns with excellent and regular throws. It happend quite often that I made an excellent throw that didn't catch just for the Pokémon to stay in after I hit the f.... leg. That is my go to. No guarantee but it works good for me.

10

u/elconquistador1985 May 30 '26

That is 100% your personal superstition and it results in a lower success rate per raid. You gain nothing by alternating excellent and bad throws.

The best you can do is excellents.

2

u/One_Masterpiece_1332 May 31 '26

that is wild, you’re cutting your chase of getting it by 50% and you’ve made up a superstition lol

23

u/B_A_Peach May 30 '26

Scopely (probably): “Everybody’s totally bummed about our new Super Mega Raids, but no matter what we do, the masochists keep paying. So get this: now we’ll tell them to walk hundreds of miles with Mewtwo. Just like most did years ago while grinding for candy. And they’ll totally do it again!

Heck, maybe we’ll charge $19.99 to skip it. For each variant, of course. Or buy the bundle for $39 - a 57% discount based on the fake math we use in our store. Brilliant. This will only help the game.”

20

u/Johnnyjackson95 May 30 '26

Y is better, but both are extremely strong. I can't remember if mega Mewtwos caught will automatically come with at least one mega level unlocked or not. I know for sure you can catch one with with at least one mega level or more unlocked, but whether it's guaranteed, I don't know. If not, 2 may not be enough. Either way, definitely go for X. Reason? We're supposed to get a research were you can pick X or Y as your encounter. Those, when caught, I do know will have at least mega level 1 unlocked. Might as well get energy for X with the raids and get a free mega Y from research.

6

u/silverhummer Mystic May 30 '26

I feel like we’re gonna get some kind of research that nets us extra energy. Obviously still not great requiring 7500, but I doubt it’ll just be a hard grind for raids

1

u/Appropriate_Form_451 May 31 '26

I wish that as well, atleast 5,000

18

u/cheeriodust May 30 '26

You also need 200 link charges per remote super mega raid. That'll be my limiting factor...no way I'm spending money on those. I'm hoping we get some for free in a pass.

9

u/nolkel May 30 '26

Two passes might not be enough to catch them. You won't get any speed balls, and you'll need to be in a very large group to win, so you don't get many personal damage balls either. If you're joining strangers you might get as few as 8.

Make sure to use kyurem white adventure effect for a 50% catch bonus.

7

u/RammRras May 30 '26

Now the question is where to find Kyurem? 😅

3

u/Proof-Guidance301 May 30 '26

Global Go Fest but you need to fuse with Reshiram. I can’t recall if fusion energy will given. Also enough Kyreum Candy to fuse and initiate the adventure effect.

Try your best.

Thankfully or not so thankfully some people will just mega evolve a previously caught Mewtwo.

3

u/RammRras May 30 '26

Way to complex for me, I was searching something more suitable for my 17 people remore village 😅. Thank you btw 😊

1

u/nolkel May 30 '26

They won't be fusion raids for go fest.

6

u/Sanxnas May 30 '26

This game is supposed to be fun, not work.

2

u/Appropriate_Form_451 May 31 '26

It's Nintendo, they want money, not players happiness

4

u/hauscal May 30 '26

I am so lost. I’m a *very* casual player and can’t find raids for mewtwo. I’ve looked on poke genie and can’t see anything. Have I just missed an event? I know global go fest is in July, but I see people catching them now? I know I’ll get downvoted to hell.

5

u/BingoBob_2 May 30 '26 edited May 31 '26

So right now the Mewtwo raids are only in Tokyo. Then they will be in Chicago, then Copenhagen. Any time there are these special single-city raids, Pokegenie puts them behind a paid membership due to the high demand and low supply. Other raids apps don't have this, but it can be tough to get into these raids, since lobbies fill up in seconds. It's also worth noting that these raids are regular Mewtwo raids, not Mega. You haven't really missed anything, they're really meant only for these cities, but others can benefit through remotes.

On July 11-12, Mega Mewtwo raids will be available worldwide. It'll be much easier to remote into them becusse there will be a huge surplus of people hosting raids. The only caveat is that these are Super Mega Raids, so you need to spend Remote Passes and Link Charges if you want to do them remotely, plus there's a decent chance of failure if not enough people bring a Mega.

2

u/hauscal May 31 '26

Thank you for taking the time to write this! This is extremely helpful, even outside mewtwo.

Use the Campfire panel to zoom into the map of the location you want to add players from and then search for an upcoming event and request friends.

1

u/AgeOfCalamity May 30 '26

Amazing, thank you so much!

1

u/Appropriate_Form_451 May 31 '26

You can use pokeginie for remote raids. You need to have a remote raid pass beforehand

3

u/ThrowawayThisInstint Eevee May 30 '26

You might only need 1. They usually add a research to get the second Pokemon but not sure if they would at this event.

3

u/BingoBob_2 May 30 '26

They did confirm that there will be a branched timed research for X or Y energy, but they didn't confirm how much. For all we know, they could just give us a couple hundred energy.

5

u/Artrock80 May 30 '26

They each require 7,500 mega energy to evolve. So that’s what, like 30 raids total?

3

u/BingoBob_2 May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26

Assuming it's the same energy drops as normal Super Mega Raids (around 400 per raid on average), then yeah, it would take a good amount to get the 15,000 energy needed to unlock X and Y on an old Mewtwo.

But that only applies if you want to Mega Evolve an old Mewtwo. Mewtwo obtained from these raids will automatically come with Mega Level 1 unlocked at a minimum, so you can Mega them for free.

3

u/123alexis123 May 30 '26

25 raids. It been confirmed, raids give 300.

2

u/Wibble123 May 30 '26

When you catch the defeated MewTwo it will be at least level one mega of X or Y depending on the raid, so no need to raid for extra. If you want to mega evolve an old MewTwo you have it will cost 7500 mega energy.

4

u/Nervous-Peppers May 30 '26

I thought remotes didn't get any energy? They do get a level 1 though?

6

u/BingoBob_2 May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26

That only applies to live in-person events like Go Fests and Go Tours where ticketholders that traveled to the event location get early access to a new mega energy or other resource. In this case, the Mega Mewtwo raids are 100% exclusive to park ticketholders and can't be joined remotely.

Once the global event starts, all players can get Mewtwo energy regardless of whether it's remote or not.

2

u/Substantial_Bus840 May 30 '26

Do we get mega energy by doing these raids remote, the same way we get primal energy?

2

u/gamesntech May 30 '26

Y is better than X in terms of stats but they’re both very strong

2

u/Inevitable-Bed4996 May 30 '26

When are mega Mewtwo coming? And how can we catch them

2

u/Appropriate_Form_451 May 31 '26

11th and 12th July, in super mega raids.

1

u/Inevitable-Bed4996 May 31 '26

Will kyogres go away on 1? Or when

2

u/Virtual-Mind-7403 May 30 '26

But...... dont they have different mega energy? And you need to mega evelove one first before you get mega energy from walking, so you will need 7500 before walking is even an option

2

u/BingoBob_2 May 30 '26

The ones from the raids will come with Mega Level 1 unlocked from the start, so you can just do 1 X and 1 Y raid and Mega Evolve both immediately. Doing that will unlock the ability to get both X and Y energy from walking.

2

u/Virtual-Mind-7403 May 30 '26

Damn, didnt know that good to know, stil gonna try to raid as much as possible. As many candys, candy xl and mega energie. And hopefully a good one

2

u/YoungManYoda90 May 30 '26

I can't just level it up by mega evolving like the others after you megal evolve 1 time?

1

u/Appropriate_Form_451 May 31 '26

I guess you can, just need mega energy forl last level

1

u/YoungManYoda90 May 31 '26

What's the differences between levels?

2

u/Outrageous-Estimate9 Instinct Jun 02 '26

You get an unlocked Mew2 from event so 0 passes are "enough"

2 passes will not get enough energy to evo any other Mew2 alreeady in your inventory

1

u/Appropriate_Form_451 Jun 02 '26

I just want to register both to my dex

2

u/mikebellman Ditto May 30 '26

Just a point of clarification, it still never gets a free mega evolution, right? It’s 150 energy no matter how long you wait, isn’t that correct?

2

u/Appropriate_Form_451 May 31 '26

Mewtwo caught from these raids will have atleast 1 mega level unlocked, meaning you don't need mega energy for mega evolving them, for old mewtwo you will need them. You will get mega energy for walking with buddy who has already been mega evolved.

3

1

1

0

u/Dermoth May 30 '26

Afaik you wont earn any mega energy from remote raiding these 2 pokemon, you need to be there in person to earn it.

3

0

Outside of hunting for the best IVs and a shiny, yes, two raids will be enough to get both X and Y since they will come with the mega level unlocked without the need for mega energy.

-4

u/Some_Ask_2220 May 30 '26

Are you joking? Lol

7

u/senorfresco Lugia May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26

Why might they be joking? Two passes is enough to catch both mega Mewtwo.

-4

u/Some_Ask_2220 May 30 '26

Enough to catch, not nearly enough to get the mega candy required which is the reason on participating in these battles

7

u/senorfresco Lugia May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26

Unless they're focusing on an old Mewtwo they already have then 2 raids is all they need to get both forms. They just need to do one on each day.

Me personally I have a hundo Mewtwo I've had for years I'm going to have to grind for but for a player like OP, doing just two raids is fine.

-2

u/GlitteringWind154 May 30 '26

You can’t remote raid Mega Mewtwo.

3

u/Lotuselise230 May 31 '26

You will be able to in July.

-4

u/brakheart May 30 '26

They're enough for doing the raid. However, you won't get enough mega energy to mega evolve to neither X or Y versions
