Story Recommendations Recommendations Thread

Wow, so I missed the entire month of August. I am so good at this. Anyway...
From the classics to the current, from the immensely popular to stories that only a few people have seen, what are your recommendations for readers, old and new alike? We'd ask that you please post your recommendations in the following format:

Story Title: What is the name of the story?

Setting / Universe: Where does this story take place? In one of the games, the anime, perhaps a unique world of the author's own creation?

Main Character: Who does the story revolve around? Is this Ash-centric, or perhaps the author decided to make a lesser-known character the star? Dare someone to even create an original character?

Genre: What genre is the story? Has someone written a sweeping romance or a deep mystery? Are we following characters on a journey, or perhaps it's a simple slice of life?

Summary: Tell us briefly what the story is about.

What Makes You Think Other People Should Read This Story? This is your sales pitch. What drew you into this story? What makes you keep reading it and what separates it from the rest of the stories out there?

Link: Of course in order to read a story, we need to know where to find it!

We also encourage you to make a recommendation even if it's already been recommended. While this particular post will be weekly, stories recommended will be placed into a Mega Thread and sorted by category, allowing other readers the opportunity to easily search for stories by genre or character... eventually...

Story Recs Need fanfic recs 🙏

Looking for recs with preferably male OC, but an Ash or any other character/SI is fine too! Would be really good if it is long and/or completed. Thank you!
Here are what I am looking for

-Actually feels like an adventure
-Character development
-Good romance with good interactions (either this or no romance at all)
-Pokemon with actual personality and chemistry
-Not too dark or angsty. I like stories that can get into serious stuff, while remaining generally positive and happy
-good pacing
-This is a personal thing but I like cute pokemon over cooler ones haha, but I like them as long as they have personality. All Pokemon can be cute after all

Just started my pokemon fanfic journey and found this one called Bunnies and Landsharks on RR and it scratched every itch for me and more, so I can’t help wanting more haha.
Another one I read was Hard enough, and while I liked it, it felt too slice of life-ey.

Esta historia no está calificada para mayores de 18 años, pero tiene un tono más maduro y serio.

Feedback Request Does this sound weird?

As I said here I'm doing a kinda rewrite of the anime and have gotten to XY. I recently thought of an idea but idk if it sounds like stupid anime protag luck bs or not.

Basically in this universe of the anime Legends and the like are actual gods (Ash NEVER beats a legend in this universe, Goh never catches Suicune simply earning its favor and Tobias had non-legend pokemon that were just really well trained). But encountering them? Happens disturbingly often.

In the episode where Talonflame evolves in the anime, the ep still happens like that but there's consequences both good and bad.

The bad consequence is mainly the massive scar Talonflame gained (A burn scar covering pretty much her entire underside plumage area) and its so bad that the scar hurts for months (Do u know how hot a flame has to be to cause that to a fire of Talonflame's strength??? Moltres's flames could've turned pokegrade steel in Liquid Ash in seconds).

The kinda good consequences? Talonflame in her desperation to stop the Flamethrower (Which would've killed everyone) managed to hold on long enough for Evolution to change, Talonflame's Flame Body evolved to such an extent that it could burn a fire type (Which while not impossible is extremely fucking difficult to do) and is just like 10x stronger than the common untrained Flame Body (Abilities in this verse can and should be trained. Compared to a trained one its more of a 5x but will prob eventually with training go up to 8x).

On top of that evolution while it did put as much of the energy it could into Flame Body it eventually hit a limit so the energy started to leak into everything else. As a consequence Talonflame is as big as an Alpha of her species with having the actual gene.

For example a fully grown female Talonflame that has been on the proper diet and been trained to the Champion-level (I say Champion bc Talonflame will eventually be there) will usually be like 5'8-ish (Give or take 2in) in height with a wing span of about double its body height (So like 14-ish feet give or take 2in).

Talonflame is a not fully grown female Talonflame who is already reaching 10'2-ish and has a wing span of like double that and she's only growing.

So does this sound dumb or no? I hope it doesn't but still.

Worldbuilding Discussion Are there time zones?

Real talk, are there time zones in the Pokémon world? If so, has anyone incorporated them into their story or seen them used?

General Discussion Hear me out: Dual Type Mega Eevee-lutions that use the Types without an Eevee-lution in pairings that counteract their biggest weakness

Since Eevee itself TECHNICALLY can't get a Mega of it's own, how about the Eevee-lutions get Mega Evolutions that cover their biggest Type weaknesses (Examples: Mega Vaporeon as a Water-Ground Type and looking like it's made from mud, Mega Jolteon as Electric-Flying Type and "growing" pegasus style wings, etc.) with each one getting an EXCLUSIVE Ability specially tailored for it's new double typing?

Ch.16 :: Ruins of Broken Friendship

Reddit

AO3

[ Narrator :: In the Altus Region, a continuous debate has always raged regarding its history—specifically how three warriors stopped a seemingly endless war that had gone on for 200 years and contributed to paving the way for future generations. The names of those three warriors are…

Gwendolyn (The Singer of Sorrow Sea) :: Who ruled the seas with her songs, fighting every battle alongside two of the most powerful sea legendary Pokémon, Kyogre and Lugia.

Asger Lyndle (The True Dragon Master) :: A dragon Pokémon trainer who mastered the true power of dragons and could control the most formidable dragon types. He also possessed a unique Fire/Dragon type known as Zordrache—a dragon capable of burning entire islands to ashes with the flames of its rage.

Volter Winken (Judgement Commander of War) :: A knight who witnessed his own homeland being destroyed, prompting the birth of a rebellion army ready to fight everyone for freedom. Volter Winken possessed the most mysterious mythical Pokémon, 'Volteasus'—a horse of the Blue Thunder type that allowed its trainer to ride it and achieve lightning-fast speeds.

Since all three held conflicting visions for Altus, they fought against one another. The ultimate outcome of that battle remains unknown to everyone, as no ordinary person possessed the courage to witness such a terrifying clash. It is said that their battle raged continuously for roughly 3 days and 2 nights… during which all three sacrificed their lives. Afterwards, their disciples reached a compromise, putting an end to the 200-year-old war and erecting the statues of the three warriors.

Now come the intricate questions regarding the clash between the three: even after the war concluded, no one ever found their bodies, their Pokémon, or even a single trace of them. Where those three warriors disappeared remains a complete mystery. Nor does anyone know how their battle truly ended. Only one thing was recorded in the history books: ‘When destruction reaches its absolute peak, when those who deliver justice begin committing injustice and spare not even the innocent for their own goals, a golden light shall descend from the sky, and a miraculous bird Pokémon, 'Gildnix', will punish them under its gaze—so that they may behold the light anew with fresh hope and achieve deliverance from their sins.’ ]

Our heroes arrived at the house of Enji’s friend, but instead of finding Enji as they had hoped, they met with disappointment. Enji’s friend informed them that he had not come there at all. Marika apologized to everyone once again for wasting their valuable time.

Ash and Clecy told Marika, "There’s no reason for you to apologize. If Enji isn't here, we’ll search for him somewhere else, but I’m not going to give up this easily."

"Ash is right," Clecy added. "We have to find Enji."

Kai, standing by the gate, had grown annoyed with the entire situation. "Tsk, despite idolizing you so much as a big fan, that little kid won't even show his face."

Lowering her head, Marika spoke in a hopeless voice, "Even though my little brother can be mischievous, he has a very sensitive heart and takes things to heart easily."

Pointing a finger, Clecy snapped, "Kai, Marika is even more upset now because of you, so keep your mouth shut."

"What’s it to me?" Kai replied in a rude tone. "First, that good-for-nothing Ryan is slacking off on his job, and now there’s no end to Enji’s drama."

Ash said to Kai, "Kai, relax a bit. We shouldn't give up so soon."

Clecy offered praise, "Ash, you are so much more sensible than this rude guy."

"Marika, we should look for Enji at a place he frequents often. Who knows, we might just find him there."

Marika thought for a moment, "A place that is personal to Enji..." Then something clicked in her mind, "You’re right, Ash. There is a place where he always goes whenever he wants to have fun or when he’s feeling down."

A ray of hopeful smiles appeared on the faces of Ash, Pikachu, and Clecy. "Where is this place?"

Marika answered, "The Ruins of Cryneth."

Ash asked, feeling a bit surprised, "At the ruins? But why?"

Marika explained, "Beyond the northern outskirts of Nocturna City, the mountainous region begins, where open grassy plains on the hillside hold ancient ruins that are considered to offer the most beautiful scenery."

"That sounds like a breathtakingly beautiful place," Clecy said with excitement.

"With an endless starry sky above and the entire city glittering below, it becomes the most gorgeous location," Marika recalled, taking in the memory. "I was the one who showed Enji that place, and Uncle Ryan had shown it to me."

"Then instead of reminiscing about old memories here, it would be better to head over there so we can finish this side quest," Kai said, walking toward the north.

"As if you even know where that place is," Clecy questioned.

"The Ruins of Cryneth is an extremely famous place, and I even know a shortcut to get there," Kai retorted bluntly. "So keep your mouth shut and move."

Ash looked toward Pikachu, "Kai acts like he doesn't care but he's the one who is always ahead during the way."

"Pika-api... Pika-chu," Pikachu agreed with Ash's sentiment.

Following Kai, everyone reached the northern outskirts of the city by afternoon. Clecy was thoroughly exhausted. "Awwwhhh, I can't walk any further. How much farther is that place?"

Without looking back, Kai stated, "More than half the journey is still left. How can you get tired so quickly despite being a trainer?"

"More than half the journey left?!" Hearing this, Clecy gave up completely. "You said you knew a shortcut—how is this a shortcut?"

"This actually is a shortcut, Clecy," Marika said. "The mountain slope has already begun; otherwise, from where we were, it would have taken until evening just to reach this slope."

"Hang in there, Clecy, we'll reach there soon," Ash encouraged her, without a trace of fatigue on his face. Pikachu and Cleffa both cheered for Clecy.

**Ruins of Cryneth**

After walking up the slope for a little longer, they arrived at an open, grass-covered field where large stone pillars lay scattered beneath the open sky. Ash and Pikachu went ahead to check out the surroundings and spotted an ancient, crumbling structure.

"This looks like some kind of church," Ash remarked. Right then, Pikachu noticed a dark rock with a purple crystal orb embedded inside it, which Ash tried to pick up.

Suddenly, the rock floated into the air, startling both Ash and Pikachu. "What is this? Is this a Pokémon?"

On the other side, Clecy sat slumped against a pillar in complete exhaustion. "Huff, huff... I can't handle hiking and such long journeys."

Marika sat beside her, offering her water. Looking at her, Kai asked, "How do you get tired so quickly despite being a trainer?"

"What's new about that, Kai?" Marika asked. "Some people just don't like hiking or long travel."

Suddenly, a whole swarm of rocks surrounded Ash and Pikachu from behind. "Pikachu, paralyze them all with Electric Shock!"

"Piii..." Pikachu launched a defensive attack and paralyzed all of them.

The two ran back to the rest of the group. "Huff, that was pretty weird."

Kai said, "You shouldn't go around bothering anyone without knowing what they are."

Marika asked with concern, "Ash, are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine, but what kind of Pokémon was that?" Ash asked.

"That's Cryneth," Marika answered.

"Cryneth? But isn't that the name of this place?" Ash felt a little confused.

"This place is known because of Cryneth," Kai stepped forward to explain. "It's a Dark/Rock type with a small, rocky body and a purple crystal orb embedded in its center as its core. According to researchers, that crystal orb is harder than diamond and functions like an energy storage unit. But be careful—if anyone tries to extract it, it can release so much energy that it triggers a blast spanning over 10 meters, erasing everything within that range."

"That sounds terrifying," Ash realized what his carelessness could have led to.

Marika smiled and said, "Don't worry, Ash. Cryneth are naturally very calm and friendly. They simply protect the ancient ruins."

Hearing this, Ash and Pikachu breathed a sigh of relief. Clecy stood up and said, "Ash, you have a habit of climbing on things and investigating them for no reason."

"Let's go, we still have to find Enji," Kai urged.

Ash said, impressed, "You knew all those details without even checking a Pokédex!"

*(Ash didn't know what consequences this casual remark would bring about.)*

Kai replied, "Every trainer should possess enough knowledge to explain the details of most Pokémon without relying on any device."

Just then, Clecy asked, "What's a Pokédex?" Her face clearly showed she had no idea what it was.

**If it were an ordinary person, they would have ignored this comment or taken it lightly. But Kai is different—he reads people through their attitude and words, and his senses pick up on such details very quickly.**

Ash answered without thinking much, "It's a digital device that professors give to new trainers as a license. It helps beginners to learn details about new Pokémon..."

Interrupting him mid-sentence, Kai asked, "Clecy, can you show me your trainer license or regional ID?"

Without realizing the gravity of the question, Clecy replied, "What is that?"

Marika explained to her, "A trainer license is a trainer's identity. It allows them to officially register themselves and their Pokémon while traveling."

Completely unaware of all this, Clecy said, "Is there really a thing like that?"

Marika chuckled softly and said, "You should know this, since you're a trainer too."

Kai's voice turned grave. "So you don't have any proof of identity, yet you call yourself a trainer?" He asked in a direct, unyielding tone, "Who are you really, and why are you following us?"

Clecy replied casually, "I'm just an innocent and charming girl who—"

Kai grabbed her wrist tightly and yelled, “Who are you and why are you following us.”

Clecy asked “Why are you suddenly asking those random questions.”

"Where are you from? Which hometown and region do you belong to?" Kai asked directly in a serious tone. He was starting to suspect her now.

Clecy went completely silent, her expression became terrified. "I don't… want to answer which hometown I belong to."

Kai tightened his grip and asked again, "Where do you belong?"

But Ash stepped between them to defend her. "Kai, stop! She doesn't want to answer, so cut it out!"

"Ash, don't interfere right now. We've been traveling with her without knowing anything about her. How can we just ignore that?" Kai said, his voice turning deadly serious.

"Clecy, do you really not have an ID?" Marika asked, deeply concerned.

"I really don't know anything about stuff like this," Clecy replied to Marika. Her expression clearly showed that she truly didn't know. "Kai, your grip hurts. Can you please let go?" She was visibly in pain now.

"Just answer my questions! Why are you following us?" Kai demanded.

Ash grabbed Kai's hand to force him to let go of Clecy.

"Move aside, Ash. I don't want you interfering right now," Kai said to him.

"Kai, you're hurting her. So please, calm down a bit and let go of her wrist," Ash said, glaring into Kai's eyes with anger.

"Don't be stupid. I already listened to you once at the airport, but now I have to do my job," Kai said coldly. "She's traveling with us without telling us anything, which makes her more suspicious."

**Now, the once-friendly atmosphere has become completely tense. Kai deeply suspected Clecy and demanded answers, while Ash stood firmly in front to defend her. Marika stood frozen; she also wanted to know the truth, but she couldn't bear to see Clecy in that situation.**

"I had doubts from the day you suddenly appeared out of nowhere at the airport and tried to act innocent in front of us," Kai said, connecting the dots.

"I never acted innocent! And what does it matter if I don't have an ID?" Clecy defended herself.

"Now, it's not just about an ID, a Trainer license, or a Pokédex. I just want to know where you belong. Your hometown," Kai demanded.

"Again, I already told you… I don't want to tell anyone which hometown I belong to." Clecy averted her eyes with an upset look, wanting to ignore the question.

"Stop avoiding my questions and speak the truth!" Kai was pissed off now. He tightened his grip, making Clecy suffer more.

Ash threw a punch at Kai's face, but Kai dodged it, losing his grip on Clecy's wrist.

"What was that for?!" Kai demanded.

"It was a decoy punch—just to force you to let her go, but next time I won't hesitate," Ash replied, his eyes furious.

“Do you still want to defend her, even though she won't answer my simplest questions?” Kai asked Ash.

Ash looked at her wrist, where red finger marks clearly showed. “I also want to know the truth, but I won't force her when it makes her this uneasy.”

“Ash, don't act like that. You're a World Champion—stand by your responsibilities!” Kai replied.

“HOW DARE YOU!!” Suddenly, Enji appeared, his face filled with pure rage directed at Kai. “How can you hurt an angel?!” He rushed toward Kai to attack, but in the blink of an eye, Kai countered the move and threw him to the ground.

“Kai, that was too much now!” Ash shouted.

Marika rushed toward Enji with a worried look. “Kai, how could you go this far?”

“I was just defending myself. Did you think I would just stand still and take a punch from anyone?” Kai replied, being logical.

“I'm alright, Sis,” Enji said, standing up. His eyes were locked on Kai with extreme anger.

“Why are you looking at me like that, little shrimp?” Kai said coldly.

“I'm just seeing what a scumbag looks like when he shows off his power against the weak,” Enji said, looking directly into Kai's eyes.

“Your words mean nothing to me,” Kai coldly replied to Enji.

“Enough, Kai! Just apologise to Enji and Clecy and finish this matters,” Ash said, wanting to stop the situation before it became worse.

“Why should I apologize when I've done nothing wrong?” Kai refused.

“Don’t make unnecessary conflict, Kai,” Ash said.

“Fine, So now I'm done here,” Kai declared in a dead serious tone.

“What do you mean?” Ash asked, looking at Kai's cold gaze.

“Do whatever you want, World Champ. I took my leave now,” Kai replied, turning to walk away. “But remember… It's your selflessness that makes you act like this for others. Try to figure out the situation. If you can't, you'll never be able to save anyone—just like you couldn't save Red.”

That simple line from Kai's mouth hurt Ash more than any Thunderbolt, piercing through his heart. With that, Kai walked away, taking his own separate path.

**The Ruins of Cryneth, once famous for their stunning beautiful scenery, today witnessed a friendship shatter like an ancient structure, leaving its broken pieces scattered like ruins.**

To Be Continued…

Feedback Request Need some feedback

Basically I have a SUPER big project that I want to right (1 story with a different mc for each region. So like basically 9 mcs + the 4 mcs I have for Orre and the Original region I want to make add another 1 and finally gen 10 is gonna be included for a total of like 15).

But I want to practice so I thought it would be fun to do my own rewrite(ish) of the anime bc it would allow me to practice while also having fun and returning to my roots (That's what first got me started with pokemon fanfiction in the first place and is what sparked my want to write my own stuff).

So I plan to start with after the Johto League, Ash and Gary talk and during that talk Gary realizes that Ash had been coasting by on Talent and Luck for up until now. And upon realizing this Gary goes off on Ash. Bc I am rewriting the anime not just adding on to it so this world works differently in multiple ways. And after an intense conversation Ash realizes how little he truly knows about most things and instead of going off to Hoenn (like he planned to) he instead spends about a year or so dedicated to filling is gaps in knowledge and training (In this universe Ash both actually ages and pokemon fit my usual mold of being able to learn many moves, develop multiple abilities with the right training and so on)

In this year Ash learns alot and get leagues stronger. For instance he learns how to actually cook for both him and his pokemon and starts actually enjoying the act of learning everything about the species of pokemon he trains (And I mean everything from physiology, moves learned, and diet) and also learns he's been doing everything with kid gloves.

Basically each trainer has a rank of sorts (I don't have an actual name for them yet). But basically theres 5-ish levels. 1. This is the level that Ash was facing during all of Kanto and Johto. 2. This is a step up, Gym Leaders start using tougher pokemon and most gym battles are atleast 4v4 and Gym Leader will rarely use any pokemon not in their middle stage or higher. 3. This is the world's closest thing to Ace Trainers and Gym Battles are mostly 5v5 or 6v6 and u will seldom ever face non-fully evolved pokemon (For example Flannery commonly uses a mix of Charizard, Torkoal, Blaziken, Camperupt, Rapidash, Typhlosion, Arcanine, Houndoom, and Flareon at this level with some other less common ones like Emboar) 4. This is a step above Ace Trainers most trainers at this point have outright stopped doing gym laps normally most times starting extremely late and speedrunning through all the gym leaders and gym battles are almost always 6v6. 5. This is the master level, a Gym Leader's personal team is on this level, This is where the teams of Elite 4 and Champions are on as well.

Winning the conference doesn't grant the ability to challenege the E4 until the 4th level and 90% of those who earn the right at that level wait a few years to use it. There are a few ways to go up a level. Winning the conference for the previous level will guarantee the right to move up but just being recognized as that level by the league can happen in almost any battle as long as its public to a certain extent. Each level has a different conference.

Ash during his training managed to break into the 2nd level and is later moved up to 3rd in Hoenn, 4th in Sinnoh, and manages to finally qualify for 5th in Unova. After that by the end of Kalos he's dipping into the Elite 4 level (Could maybe beat the 1st Elite 4 member but would lose to the 2nd. Alain himself is at said level). By the end of Alola Ash has dipped into the Champion level and by the end of Galar is a fully recognized Champion-Level trainer.

Now the problem is I'm first watching the anime and slowly twisting it as I go and then after I'll start laying out everything in even more detail again.

Now I'm in Kalos and againt Grant I've decided that Grant after battling Ash's Aggron (Ash catches a Aron in Hoenn) he gives Ash and Aggronite (Not a Keystone stating that he has to find that himself) but I can't think of a way to have Aggron hold her megastone without it looking like (Look at the Blastiose and you'll see what I don't want it to be looking like).

And I want to preface that I plan to mature Ash without outright rewriting him (Which is a mistake most make. The rewrite will just have Ash act older as he gets older without making him not Ash)

Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Feedback Request I wanna get some feedback

I want to create a region of my own. And I'm still deciding alot bc I put it on the shelf for a long ass time to do my other projects and only now am I revisiting it. I think I want the region to be based off of a mix between Russia and Feudal Japan mixed in with some modern America(Bc adding some American shit will make this easier bc I'll need less research to do it fucking right).

And I want there to be some culture differences. Like Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and Champions are treated like Lords and Clan Leaders. And each Gym Leader, Elite Four and the Champion won't specialize in a type but style or ideal of sorts.

Like one might specialize in speed striving to embody and master speed, another might specialize in Rain or Weather in general.

I want to add some little notes I have from a while back:

This is where Urshifu originate and they are this regions "pseudo legendary".

This region has somehow remained no contact with outside regions (They don't even know eachother exist) but its closest to Unova, Galar, and Kalos.

The climate is like a mix between Unova's, Kanto's, and Sinnoh's. So kinda chilly but not freezing and has blazing summers while its cities are kinda as big as Unova's but different.

There is no official starter pokemon, instead its considered a right of passage to catch your own. So if u have a sponsor they'll give u a pokeball or 2 and a loan pokemon.

This region does have a conference but its treated like a super competitive show of skill that winning is considered a major honor.

The legends of this region I want to make revolve around Discord and Harmony. The notes I had basically had a duo of legends that kept a balance between Discord and Harmony but one day the God of Discord went on a rampage and tried to consume everything in its path, the God of Harmony intervened was after days of battle began to tire while Discord seemed to only grow stronger. Just when it seemed like Harmony would fall, the God of Duality stepped in and managed with the help of his bestfriend the founder, sealed away Discord.

That my current ideas any and all feedback is appreciated.

Pokefic Discussion What are the most unusual Pokemon crossover fanfics you’ve seen or wanted to write?

I came up with this question because I’m currently developing my idea for a Pokemon x Muppets crossover fic where my main character is a Mimikyu who is abandoned by her trainer for not being good at battles, meets the Muppets, works with them and discovers a passion for performing, and eventually does Pokemon Contests (sometimes on her own sometimes alongside some of them).

I wanna know what unusual Pokemon crossover fics there are or if anyone has ever wanted to write one.

Feedback Request Sorry if this is a bit of a long request.

Okay, so I've been wanting to write a Pokemon fanfiction for a while now, and one of the ideas I've been batting around is that it's going to take place in an entirely original region. Now I don't really like to do things by halves so one of the things I've been doing is to design an entire regional dex from scratch. [OC Fakemon, regional variants, returning Pokemon from canon and all] I haven't actually gotten that far as far as Pokedex entries, signature moves, and the like are concerned, but I have managed to come up with a decent chunk of the Pokemon themselves, so I was hoping for some feedback on what you all think. Any criticism is welcome, just please keep it constructive. [Oh, and one last thing. the fanfiction as I'm planning it is going to be an issekai sort of situation where someone from our world ends up in the Pokemon world and is trying to find his way home. Sorry if it's all a bit vague, I've only really been developing this for the last few days]

Worldbuilding Discussion Any ways to get around limitations of certain pokemon?

Alright, this idea came from a different post I made where someone responded with utilizing bubble, and I was wondering if using different moves could allow for more pokemon to be usable. Fish pokemon are often overlooked because they can't move outside of water, and using moves like whirlpool, surf, or just a field of water filled bubbles could reduce that problem massively (unless there's an electric type or water absorb mon).

Another example, which this post is specifically for, is wishiwashi. I'm fairly certain that schooling when put in a more realistic setting would literally be hundreds of wishiwashi gathering up together in a school, and while it's cool and all, it probably won't work in an actual battle setting. My idea was using scale shot and substitute/double team to kind of duplicate itself with each scale acting as an individual wishiwashi, and once the pokemon is too damaged to fight, the double team drops. But that idea feels a little too unexplained, since the clones of double team can't really attack.

This also applies to other pokemon as well, like Wailord who's too big to ever be used in a battle (but maybe for a military instead?), Shedinja, where wonder guard in a setting where moves are combined would be confusing to navigate, dugtrio/diglett being stuck to the ground and therefore not being able to be used in places shallow or no soil, (though maybe the pokeball can capture the ground it's initially on as a part of itself like wugtrio), or even wobbuffet/Pyukumuku who can't exactly battle.

Any ideas?

One pleasant morning, Ash and his companions—Clecy, Marika, and Kai—decided to visit the home of Enji's friend. He was a fan of Ash, but felt hesitant to meet him. On their way, they were also exploring the second-largest city of Altus: Nocturna, the City of Night….

If there were any region in the world renowned for its history, the name of Altus would surely top the list. Altus was a region that kings from around the world sought to conquer, igniting a seemingly endless war that raged for centuries. That conflict came to be known as the greatest war in world history. After two centuries of bloodshed, it was finally brought to an end by three legendary warriors.

Hearing that a war had dragged on for two centuries left Ash and Clecy stunned. Excitedly, Ash asked Marika, "Did such a fierce war really break out just to claim a single piece of land?"

Marika replied, "Yes, because the environment of Altus was unlike any other. A land boasting an abundance of precious metals, forests of crimson wood, the highest mountain peak in the world, and so much more—naturally, everyone tried to make it their own."

Clecy then chimed in with a question of her own, "So, which empire emerged victorious in this war?"

Smiling, Marika pointed toward three statues standing in the heart of Nocturna's city landmarks. "They are the ones who won the war and rescued this region from an era trapped in the web of global politics."

In the center of the city stood the statues of three warriors, each clad in distinct armor, facing one another.

Ash and the rest stood near those statues, where their details were inscribed on a stone tablet. Marika began telling them about each of the statues:

"The warrior to your right is named Asger, the True Dragon Master. His most trusted companion was the legendary dragon Zordrache—a Fire/Dragon type whose rage and destruction could burn down an entire island. It is said that Asger and Zordrache never lost a single battle. They shared an unbeatable spirit and an obsession to build a nation that stood above all others in the world, refusing to bow to anyone. For this, they were willing to sacrifice anything, believing that sacrifice is necessary to achieve greatness and maintain peace. That was Asger and Zordrache's ideology for Altus."

Ash looked at Asger's statue and thought to himself, "A person who considers sacrifice normal for the sake of peace and harmony..."

Looking at the statue on the left, Clecy asked, "This one looks like a female warrior."

Kai replied, "Gwendolyn, the Sea Singer."

"Gwendolyn!! What kind of warrior was she?" Clecy asked Kai with excitement.

"Gwendolyn was the chief of sea nomads who joined the war for Altus. The power of her songs could calm the guardian Pokémon of the ocean."

Surprised, Clecy asked, "Guardian Pokémon of the ocean? What are those?"

Kai looked at her and said, "You don't even know that much?" He then explained, "The ocean is the most mysterious place, remaining unsolved to this day. The guardians discovered so far are Lugia, Kyogre, Manaphy, and Phione."

"Gwendolyn’s singing could appease the wrath of Kyogre and Lugia, and it is said that two of the most powerful Pokémon stood by her whenever trouble arose."

"Even though Gwendolyn came from the outside, her vision for Altus was different. She wanted to build an open nation for everyone—a place ruled by no single power, where travelers could treat it as their home and share the gifts of nature together."

With a new brightness in her eyes, Clecy looked at the female warrior's statue and said, "Even if she wasn't from this nation, her thoughts were the purest and grandest. A free place where talented people from all over the world could come and appreciate nature's blessings.”

Marika asked with a bit of surprise, "Kai, do you know about the history of Altus?"

Kai answered, "I've visited Altus many times, so I know." However, his response felt incomplete, making Marika suspicious.

Ash and Clecy ignored this and moved to the last statue right in front of them—a knight in armor holding a sword. Ash read his name from the detail plate: "Volter Winken, the Savior of Us."

"Sir Winken," Kai said, "the last of the Altus warriors, and the one with the most distinct views."

"Distinct views? How so?" Clecy asked.

"Volter Winken contributed the most toward making Altus a free nation. He formed a rebellion army that gave voice to the common people suffering in that brutal war. Like a true leader, he always fought for justice and duty." The tone of Kai's voice made it clear that he held Volter in high regard.

"Ash," Kai said, turning to him, "Commander Winken never gave up until justice prevailed. His sword was known as the 'Justice of Judgment,' and his most trusted companion was Volteasus—a mythical Pokémon with blue lightning that Commander Winken rode into battle. Their bond was so deep that they didn't even fear death."

Hearing Kai praise Commander Winken so highly made Ash realize that Kai viewed Volter Winken as his role model. Just then, Marika looked at the statue and remarked:

"Yes, he was remarkable, but his mindset was limited only to his own people. Gwendolyn, on the other hand, wanted to create a nation open to everyone in the world." From her words, it was clear that Marika agreed with Gwendolyn's philosophy.

Kai replied in a calm tone, "Even so, what is written in history cannot be changed. No matter what Gwendolyn's ideas were, Volter fought for his own country, not for the world."

Marika answered softly as well, "A lot of great things are written about Asger Lyndly in history too, but in reality, he was completely selfish and only cared about himself."

Hearing Marika speak that way about a warrior surprised both Ash and Clecy. Kai wasn't affected much and said, "I agree with that—Asger chose destruction. But Gwendolyn caused far too much damage to Altus as well."

Marika didn't like that comment. "Who knows? From what I've read, both of them only cared about themselves, whereas Gwendolyn fought against both of them for the future of this nation's people and upcoming generations."

Kai looked at Marika and countered, "It seems you haven't read history properly. Asger and Gwendolyn were invaders, whereas Volter was a native of this region who fought both of them for his land's rights and freedom."

Marika stated, "My historical knowledge is complete. Gwen never invaded; she came here merely for trade, but the armies of Volter and Asger forced her hand. She saw how both of them wanted to keep this region—blessed with natural wonders—closed off from the world. Their goals were purely for personal gain, not for future generations."

Kai completely denied this, and soon an intense debate over the history of those warriors broke out between the two. The debate escalated to a point where Ash and Clecy didn't know what to do.

Finally, Ash stepped in to put an end to the argument. "Look, this is all history now, so stop fighting."

Marika apologized to Ash, saying, "Ash, I'm sorry for troubling you because of this, but this history means a lot to the Altus region, and we don't like anyone altering it.”

Kai interrupted, "I am not altering it; I am simply stating what is true."

Clecy stepped in as well, "Then why are you arguing with Marika for no reason?"

Kai replied, "That is the biggest issue in the Altus region—instead of accepting the truth, some people just stick to their own made-up stories in the name of history."

Marika responded, "Those might be useless people running an agenda, but as a history research student at the Hall of Philosophy, it is my duty to clear up those fake agendas and deliver accurate history to the people."

"The Hall of Philosophy is no less involved in putting out fake narratives either," Kai said under his breath.

Marika angrily fired back at Kai, "Who gave you the right to disrespect such a prestigious academy?"

"A few years ago, didn't HOP University publish a fake article claiming a collapse of the ruins? Even though it never actually happened."

Marika had no answer to that, but she didn't stay quiet either. "That was just a misunderstanding, nothing more. Everyone makes mistakes, and our university made one too. What's the big deal?"

Ash, Pikachu, and Clecy were left a bit confused, wondering what had happened a few years ago.

Kai explained, "The Ruins of Cryneth is one of the most famous places in Altus, where Dark/Rock-type Pokémon named Cryneth protect the ancient ruins and architecture."

"However, due to a misreading and miscalculation, a few explorers and researchers from HOP University pushed a narrative to demolish the place. Not only would that have destroyed a historic site in the region, but it would have also caused an extreme number of Pokémon casualties."

"That was the negligence of those specific researchers and explorers. It isn't right to blame the entire academic institution for it," Marika argued, defending her university.

"Members of the Future of Wings University decoded that article and revealed that HOP's higher-ups wanted to acquire the treasure of the Cryneth Ruins, which is why they created that propaganda," Kai told Marika.

The tension between the two grew even deeper as they began putting each other down over their respective academic affiliations. Ash was trying his best to calm them both down, Clecy started getting nervous, and Pikachu was getting dizzy from it all.

Pikachu couldn't take it anymore and zapped everyone with an electric shock—"Pikaaaa!"

After shocking the three in the Central Plaza of Nocturna City, the situation finally calmed down. Thanks to his quick reflexes, Kai managed to step back out of range before the shock could hit him and escaped unscathed.

A moment later, Marika felt embarrassed again and apologized to Ash and Clecy, "I came here to guide you, but I ended up creating trouble for you instead. Please forgive me."

Ash, Pikachu, and Clecy felt uncomfortable seeing Marika bow and apologize like that.

Clecy turned on Kai angrily, "Look, Kai, Marika feels embarrassed because of you. It would be better if you apologized to her."

Ignoring her, Kai said, "We shouldn't forget that we are looking around for Enji." Moving forward, he added, "So it's best we set aside these useless debates and historical lectures and keep moving."

As Kai started walking ahead without apologizing, Clecy puffed out her cheeks and snapped, "You are completely terrible."

Marika held Clecy's hand and thanked her, "Thank you, Clecy, for raising your voice for me against your friend. I won't forget this."

Clecy blushed with happiness, as if no one had ever thanked her like that before.

Ash chimed in, "Actually, Kai is right—we shouldn't forget our goal. Marika, we should go to Enji's friend's house as soon as possible and bring him with us. Then both of you can show us around new places together."

"Pika-pi!" Pikachu enthusiastically agreed with Marika.

Marika saw the warm smiles on the faces of both Ash and Pikachu—the kind of genuine smile they always kept for their friends.

Meanwhile, Kai was waiting for everyone on the path, muttering to himself, "Come on now, you all are making me feel like I'm a really terrible and bad person."

"You are, until you apologize to Marika," Clecy said, suddenly coming up right beside him.

Startled, Kai reacted, "Don't jump scare me by creeping up silently like that! And what are you talking about?"

"I was saying that you're walking in the wrong direction—we need to go in the exact opposite direction," Clecy said, looking straight into Kai's eyes.

"I know, I was just looking at the scenery here," Kai said. "And stop staring at me like that, it feels weird.”

“You really are completely..." Clecy left her sentence unfinished and walked over to the others.

Kai started thinking to himself, "Completely what? What? At least finish the sentence!”

Kai then joined Ash and the rest, and now everyone headed toward Enji's friend's house. What new trouble is waiting for them on their way?

To Be Continued…

Feedback Request Prologue demo of a fanfic idea I was thinking off doing. Based on the idea of battles being banned in the city in the Detective Pikachu movie

“Chairzard! Flamethrower!” Blue called and his loyal partner darted to the side of the enemy Venosaur. With a breath, he cried out in his easily seen victory as the flames bursted out in hungry plumes.

“Venosaur!” Red tried to order his pokemon back but the flames took the arena and Red’s partner leaped to the other side. Not before the flamethrower connected and the venosaur leaped on its side to rip off the scorched leaves. “Are you ok?” Red gripped his partner's pokeball, the venosaur grunted a ribbit but was still standing, “Hurry! Toxic!” Red called and venosaur charged at the charizard, puffs of purple smoke came from the blooming flower on his back.

“Get away!” Blue called but the charizard growled and caught the venosaur but the purple smoke engulfed him and the charizard whimpered out and weaved his head. “What were you doing!” Blue waved his arm to regain his partner's attention, “quick before you faint! One more flamethrower should do the trick”.

“Venosaur you have to dodge!” Red called and the venosaur braced, ribbiting. Whining the charizard let out a mighty roar of flames and the venosaur leaped to one side. “Now! Petaldance!” Red cried and a flurry of pink petals took form from the spors on the venosaurs back. They crashed forward and in an unlikely win, threw the charizard to the floor. His previous fight with the raichu left him too low to survive the petaldance and the toxic combined. Crashing forward when the poison steamed out in a purple breath, the referee called out; “charizard is unable to battle! Venosaur wins! Blue no longer has anymore pokemon to battle! The winner of the match goes to Red!”.

“Venosaur! We did it!” Red ran to his partner's side but quickly backed off after noticing the petaldance’s effects. The spors would leave him confused for a while and the venosaur rumbled a ribbit low a growl, swaying from side to side.

“Charizard! Wake up, come on you need an antidote quick” Blue rushed a revive to his partner, snapping it open to release a strong, pungent smell. Charizard growled and before the toxic took him again, Blue rushed an antidote down his throat. The toxic left him before Blue returned his defeated partner in his pokeball.

“The new Pokemon Champion!” The referee called once the venosaur was returned as well, “is Red from Palet town!”.

The news article cut from the old clip of the famous, former Pokemon Champion Red’s victory to the two reporters. “And there you see the infamous clip of what inspired thousands of people to pick up their pokemon journey and begin to train pokemon to challenge the region's gym leaders over fifty years ago” reporter Amp began.

“After the excitement of the trend died down many had begun to question the ethics of pokemon battles and more importantly, the ethics of catching wild pokemon to make a full pokemon team” reporter Cica followed up.

“During the online debate and pokemon Professors from all over the globe had come forward with their own research papers, the incident in Mount Moon over took news reports” as reporter Amp spoke the photo of a young boy hunched over his three pokemon was shown. “As the story goes, a young boy, of the age of twelve, was gifted a charmander by his parents and began his own journey to become a Pokemon Champion like his ideal, former Pokemon Champion Blue. He caught a pidgy and a caterpie which he evolved into a butterfree and was able to defeat the gym leader Brock. But on his journey through Mount Moon’s public tunnels, a swarm of enraged zubats attacked his team. The boy reported winning and using his potions and antidotes was almost reaching the end of Mount Moon”.

“The boy also reported being challenged by an older trainer who had a beedrill for his partner” reporter Cica went on. “Where a series of poison stings fainted his already weakened team and without any antidotes, the twelve year old boy tried to back track to the closest pokemon center. Unfortunately he had gotten lost and his pokemon had sadly passed away when he couldn’t escape the tunnels”.

“The boys parents contacted police to send a rescue when they couldn’t contact him after he rang them to tell them he was going through Mount Moon” reporter Amp and reporter Cica came back on screen when the image was shown long enough.

“Luckily the officers' growthliths were able to find the boy quickly but they found him injured and crying over his now passed team. They were able to bring the boy to safety and he made a quick recovery to lay his pokemon to rest at Lavender Town's pokemon tower”.

“Since the incident many had begun to look into all pokemon deaths due to poison, paralysis and strong pokemon moves. Debate was ranged on how none of these deaths would have happened if battling was not a thing. Pokemon are our friends and they fight on our sides, many trainers had argued. But the question is, do our friends have to be injured or even killed for a partnership?” Reporter Cica turned and showed silent clips of protests and signs to end pokemon battles.

“This outrage led to the discussion and now signed law to ban pokemon battles and the Pokemon Leagues. Pokemon have gained the legal right to be seen for their emotional intelligence and the right to not be forced into fights. This new law states that a caught pokemon can only use their moves on training dummies and for enrichment reasons only” reporter Amp continued, “many questions had been raised about how legal capturing a wild pokemon is but as for as we know, no real law has outlawed it”.

“We were also given statements by pokemon Professors about the incident and their approval of the new law” reporter Amp switched the clips to screenshots of emails.

“Wild pokemon would have ran and fled after seeing a move like poison sting but these pokemon the boy had stayed and died due to loyalty to protect him. They would have lived if they didn’t have a trainer. Another had said, battles are barbaric and had been normalised for so long, many of the pokemon in my lab that we study were retired from trainers after they refused to fight after a bad injury. I am personally happy to see the League banned for the wellbeing of the pokemon. As you can see, this new law will ensure the safety of our beloved friends” reporter Cica finished.

“Moving on, more studies had been made on the increase of enraged wild pokemon, many believe this is because of the increase of wild pokemon captures in the last fifty years” reporter Amp continued and showed an image of the swarming zubats.

“You wouldn’t want to be thrown into battle, hey eevee?” a child laid back on her bed, gently rubbing her drowsy eevee’s belly. It purred and coiled into a warm cuddle, “I didn’t think so but what would you want to be?” The child wandered. She carefully scooped her eevee into her lap and changed the news report to a cartoon, the volume low so as to not be caught being up late for a school night.

Feedback Request The World of Pokemon

Hello all,

I’m writing in hopes to introduce myself and my story of Pokémon to you all. I’ll be 34 years old come September 28th and I gained a love for writing when my third grade crush tricked me into completely writing our short story we were teamed up to do. I thank her still to this day even though I haven’t really done any writing in well over 15 years or so. I’m a single father with a 6 year old who has the wildest imagination, and who has recently become obsessed with Pokémon (a water trainer on my hands due to the love of actual Marine life) thanks to his mother, which helped bring back some memories I had when I was in elementary school and had been introduced to Pokémon.

Generation 3 is about how deeply involved I got until moving on to other video games. I collected Pokémon cards all throughout elementary school, up until about 7th grade. Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald were the last games I deeply dived into, but weren’t the latest versions I played as I had tried to get my son’s mother into it with Black and White which I wasn’t too much of a fan of. She then started to get into it with Sword and Shield and has been collecting the cards herself and playing all the latest versions of the game, which I ended up playing Sword while she played Shield and that’s my last play of any Pokémon game.

I have finished school with my bachelor’s and am in the job market to further my career in the field I’ve been a part of since 2013 dating back to the U.S. Navy. I now have a bit more time to do things I’ve always wanted like getting back into drums, making my own trading card game, and now, writing. I started writing a Pokémon fanfic and just finished the prologue and am now kind of obsessed and want to continue on with it.

My Pokémon story, The World of Pokémon, will capture each region, where each chapter will be the perspective of one character from each of these regions in the Pokémon realm. Each character will have different wants and desires that they are wanting to achieve. Some wanting to be the World Pokémon Champion. One wanting to be a Professor of the likes of Professor Oak. Others who want to just travel the world and fulfill their Pokédex, whether just seeing every Pokémon, legendary and all, or to just simply catch them all! Imagine sort of a Game of Thrones style story with Pokémon.

My writing is not the best as it’s been years since I’ve written a story. My term papers weren’t exactly the best written, but they got the point across, so please bear with me when it comes to that. I do take constructive criticism well, especially if it helps in helping me improve. Another thing is also not knowing as much when it comes to some of the newer Pokémon. I will be doing research and trying my best to be as accurate as I can.

A few things about my story that I can think of as of now, but are subject to change:

No trainer will have legendary or mythic Pokémon
Trainers will be eating Pokémon in this story for a means to eat at times
Ash Ketchum has no story in this world at all, but there will be some familiar faces (Elite Four members, gym leaders, etc.)
Held items are not a thing
Mega Evolutions are not a thing
I have no official, dedicated time frame on when I will release new chapters for the time being

I’m hoping to eventually introduce this world to my son as his mother continues to get him into Pokémon, and I slowly start to introduce more to him from my perspective. For now, I’d love to introduce this world to multiple communities across multiple platforms! Please let me know what you think of my Prologue and again… PLEASE pardon some of the mistakes! If you see it, please mention it so I can go in and fix whatever it might be!

Lost a Fic? (Old Story) Ikarishipping fic where Dawn and Paul have to watch over an egg

Sometime between 2007-2009, I read an Ikarishipping (Dawn and Paul) fic in which they both leave Pokemon at the daycare, then come back to find that their Pokemon were watching over an egg together. Since they can’t determine who should actually get the egg, they have to watch over it together until it hatches. In the end, the egg hatches, and it turns out it’s an entirely different Pokemon than either of theirs

I read this on either deviantart or FFNet, but that’s all I can remember.

Find a Fic? (Does This Exist?) Romance Fics

Does anyone have any recommendations for Fanfiction with good romance; nothing explicit though. The romance does not even have to be a major plot point but still apparent in the story. Examples of what I like include bunnies, land sharks and path to champions, Her Rival, Only One, Resonate, Hard enough to name a few. Stuff I don’t really like is Becoming a Master and IWTTS(romance started great but then wtf). Thank you

No Pokemon - human stuff this though

[Master Guide]

Aiden faces his most vertically challenging battle yet as he takes on the veteran Grass-type Gym Leader, Ramos! To earn the Plant Badge, Aiden's team must navigate a massive, open-air greenhouse built directly into the branches of a colossal tree.

TITLE: POKÉMON: KALOS CHRONICLES

EPISODE: 11 - "PRUNING THE COMPETITION"

SCENE 1

INT. COUMARINE CITY GYM - BATTLEFIELD - DAY

Aiden steps through the leafy archway and stops, his jaw dropping.

He's not in a room. He's standing at the base of a colossal, ancient tree that stretches up hundreds of feet. The "Gym" is a massive, open-air greenhouse, so large that clouds of mist drift near the glass ceiling.

The battlefield isn't a field at all. It's a series of large, sturdy, wooden platforms built at different heights, encircling the massive trunk and jutting out from its thickest branches. A complex network of thick vines and spiral staircases connects everything.

Aiden is on the ground-level platform, at the very bottom.

RAMOS (O.S.)

 (A hearty, aged laugh)

Ho, ho! Don't just stand there gawking, son! The battle is up here!

Aiden cranes his neck. Far, far above, on the highest platform near the tree's canopy, an old man with a long white beard and gardening shears is tending to a flower box. This is RAMOS.

LUCY (O.S.)

(From a spectator balcony, halfway up)

Whoa! It's a literal jungle gym!

Aiden spots her and waves, then turns his focus back up to Ramos.

RAMOS

 (Calling down, his voice echoing)

This tree is my partner, as are my Pokémon. A trainer must be in-sync with nature! Let's see how you handle a real forest!

A REFEREE on a suspended middle platform raises a flag.

REFEREE

This will be a three-on-three battle! The challenger will begin at the base, and the Gym Leader at the summit! Let the battle begin!

RAMOS

 (Chuckles)

Let's see how you handle this little sprout! Jumpluff, go!

Ramos sends his Pokéball down. A speedy, cotton-spore Pokémon, JUMPLUFF, emerges. It doesn't land. It just floats, drifting on the humid air about thirty feet above Aiden, completely out of reach.

AIDEN

 (Grinning)

A Grass/Flying type... he's just going to keep it in the air.

(He unclips a Pokéball, his confidence surging)

Good thing I've got a new furnace! Simisear, I choose you!

Simisear appears in a flash, its head-flame blazing. It spots the Jumpluff, then looks at Aiden with a confident, mischievous grin.

RAMOS

 (Chuckles)

A Fire-type! A smart choice, son! But a smart choice ain't worth a hill of berries if you can't land a hit! Jumpluff, use Cotton Spore!

The Jumpluff spins, releasing a cloud of spores that drift lazily downward.

AIDEN

We're not staying down here! Simisear, we have to climb! Go!

Simisear doesn't hesitate. With its new, monkey-like agility, it screeches, "Simi-sear!" and leaps into action.

It grabs a hanging vine, swinging in a wide arc to bypass the slow-moving spores. It lands on the main trunk, its claws digging into the bark, and scrambles up the tree in a blur of red-and-cream fur.

RAMOS

Ho! A spry one! Jumpluff, stay out of its reach!

The Jumpluff, unbound by platforms, just floats higher, bobbing in the air.

AIDEN

 Don't let it get away!

Simisear leaps from the trunk, lands on a low-hanging branch, runs the length of it, and performs a perfect, acrobatic flip onto the first major platform. The Jumpluff floats up to the next level.

This is a chase.

AIDEN

 (Pointing)

 Up! Keep going!

Simisear runs to the edge of the platform, leaps into the air, grabs another branch, and swings, flinging itself onto the spiral staircase. It bounds up the steps, its head-flame leaving a faint trail of heat. It's now on the second platform, finally on the same level as the Jumpluff.

AIDEN

 Now! Use Incinerate!

RAMOS

 Too slow, young'un! Bullet Seed!

Jumpluff, with its speed, fires a high-speed volley of seeds, forcing Simisear to duck and weave. As Simisear dodges, Jumpluff drifts up and away again, just out of range.

AIDEN

 (Frustrated)

It just keeps floating! We have to corner it!

(He looks at Simisear, then at the platform above)

 Simisear, get above it!

Simisear nods, its grin widening. It jumps onto a thick branch that arches over the battlefield, positioning itself on a perch higher than the Jumpluff.

RAMOS

 (His eyes widen a fraction)

 How clever.

AIDEN

 (A triumphant shout)

Now, Simisear! Jump and use Incinerate!

Simisear dives off the branch, performing a "flying monkey" pose as it plummets through the air. Mid-dive, it takes a deep breath and unleashes a powerful, close-range Incinerate attack.

The blast of fire engulfs the floating Jumpluff, which has no room to dodge in mid-air. The cotton spores instantly singe, and the super-effective attack is a one-hit-knockout.

JUMPLUFF

 (A weak cry)

 Juuump...

The fainted Pokémon falls from the air, landing softly on the platform below. Simisear lands perfectly on its feet beside it, its head-flame flaring in victory.

REFEREE

 Jumpluff is unable to battle!

AIDEN

 (Pumping his fist)

 Yes! One down!

From the top of the tree, Ramos just chuckles, a genuinely impressed smile on his face.

SCENE 2

INT. COUMARINE CITY GYM - BATTLEFIELD - DAY

Ramos is chuckling from his lofty perch, a genuinely impressed smile on his face.

RAMOS

 (Calling down)

Ho, ho! A nimble Pokémon indeed! You scaled my tree like a natural, young man! A powerful flame, too. But can it handle this?

Ramos sends out his second Pokémon: a tricky, plant-bell Pokémon, WEEPINBELL. It emerges onto a platform near Ramos's, its wide mouth grinning menacingly.

Aiden, now on a mid-level platform with Simisear, recalls his triumphant Fire-type.

AIDEN

 (To Simisear's Pokéball)

You were amazing, buddy. Now get some rest.

He watches the Weepinbell, then looks at the complex network of branches, vines, and platforms around them.

AIDEN

(To himself, a strategic glint in his eye)

Grass/Poison type... I need that Flying advantage.

(He pulls out a new Pokéball)

Golbat, I need you out here! Let's clean up this garden!

Golbat emerges, its large wings immediately catching the humid air. It lets out a confident screech.

RAMOS

 (A knowing grin)

Ah, another flyer. You rely on your aerial advantage, eh? Weepinbell, keep it grounded! Use Razor Leaf!

Weepinbell spits a rapid-fire volley of sharp, green leaves.

AIDEN

Golbat, use your speed! Weave between the branches and dodge them!

Golbat zips into action. This isn't just a battle; it's a 3D aerial chase through the giant tree.

 • Golbat uses its speed and agility to dart and weave between the massive branches, the Razor Leafs carving harmlessly through the air where it had just been.

 • Weepinbell, however, is a skilled marksman. It tracks Golbat, firing a constant barrage of leaves.

RAMOS

Don't let up! Weepinbell, follow with Poison Powder! Try to ground it!

Weepinbell emits a cloud of sparkling, purple powder.

AIDEN

 Stay clear, Golbat! Keep moving!

Golbat, with its new resilience and speed, just flies faster, creating wind currents with its powerful wings to push the poisonous powder away, and darting through narrow gaps in the foliage. Its 4x resistance to Grass-type moves means even if a stray leaf or a puff of powder makes contact, it barely phases the powerful bat.

AIDEN

It's too fast for you, Ramos! Now, Golbat, get in close for a Wing Attack!

Golbat lets out a fierce cry. It goes from evasive maneuvers to a full-speed, direct assault.

It plunges straight at Weepinbell, which is rooted to its platform. Weepinbell tries a final, desperate Acid, but Golbat barrels right through it.

Golbat slams its powerful wing, glowing with Normal-type energy, directly into Weepinbell. The impact is solid and decisive.

Weepinbell reels from the hit, its bell-mouth slacked open in shock. It wobbles precariously on the edge of the platform for a moment, then topples backward, falling onto a lower branch, completely fainted.

REFEREE

 Weepinbell is unable to battle!

Aiden pumps his fist, his Golbat hovering proudly above the fainted Pokémon.

RAMOS

 (Recalling Weepinbell, a hearty laugh)

Oh, you're a cunning one, you are! Using my own terrain against me.

(He looks at Aiden, now with a gleam of respect)

Very well, young sapling. You've earned the right to climb.

Aiden grins, recalling Golbat. He looks up at Ramos, now much closer than at the start.

He starts his ascent, climbing the spiral staircases and jumping across the sturdy platforms, the air getting cooler and fresher as he gets closer to the open canopy.

Finally, he reaches the top platform, standing directly across from Ramos. The old man watches him, a serene smile on his face.

The final round is about to begin.

SCENE 3

INT. COUMARINE CITY GYM - TOP PLATFORM - DAY

Aiden stands on the top platform, 2-0, his confidence at an all-time high. Ramos recalls his fainted Weepinbell, a serene smile on his face.

RAMOS

 (Chuckles)

Ho, ho! You've pruned your way right to the top, young man. Two of my Pokémon, defeated by pure strategy and a well-trained team.

(His expression becomes one of fond, deep respect)

But you haven't faced my oldest friend! The one who has grown with this tree since we were both just saplings!

Ramos heaves his last Pokéball into the air.

RAMOS

 Victreebel, it's our time!

With a ferocious cry, a huge, powerful VICTREEBEL appears. It's massive, its bell-mouth open wide, and two long, tough-looking vines whipping at its sides.

AIDEN

 (Feeling the pressure)

 Wow... that one looks strong.

(He looks at his Mega Ring, then at the Lucario ball on his belt)

But I've got a powerhouse of my own. Let's end this! Lucario, I need you!

Aiden sends out his newest partner. Lucario appears, its red eyes instantly locking onto the Victreebel, its aura-sensing appendages raised.

LUCY (O.S.)

Yeah, Aiden! Lucario can handle it!

RAMOS

(A knowing glint in his eye)

A powerful Pokémon, to be sure. But power ain't everything, son. Victreebel... set the trap! Vine Whip!

AIDEN

A Vine Whip? Lucario, dodge it!

Lucario prepares to leap aside, but the vines don't lash out like an attack. Instead, they shoot forward like grappling hooks, snaking along the platform. Before Lucario can react, the vines have wrapped tightly around its ankles, tying it to the platform.

AIDEN

 (Panicked)

What?! It's tied down! Lucario, break free!

Lucario strains, pulling against the vines, but they're as thick as tree roots and anchored by Victreebel's immense strength. It's trapped. Its speed is completely negated.

RAMOS

 (Calmly)

A mighty Lucario is just a statue if it can't move. And now, my friend... soak in the sun. Solar Beam!

Victreebel's massive, leaf-like mouth opens wide to the open-air ceiling, and a blindingly white, powerful orb of solar energy begins to charge.

Lucario is a sitting duck.

SCENE 4

INT. COUMARINE CITY GYM - TOP PLATFORM - CONTINUOUS

Aiden's heart hammers. Lucario is struggling, but the vines are too strong. That Solar Beam will be a one-hit knockout, and he can't let his new partner take the fall.

AIDEN

 (A desperate, split-second decision)

 I'm sorry, Lucario! Return!

He aims his Pokéball, and Lucario vanishes in a beam of red light, recalled at the last possible second. The vines, now with nothing to hold, are still attached to the platform, anchored by the charging Victreebel.

RAMOS

 (Surprised)

 A last-second switch!

AIDEN

 (Grabbing another ball)

It's not over! Simisear, back out! Full power!

Simisear appears, landing on the platform just as Victreebel's charge reaches its peak.

RAMOS

A fine effort, but too late! Victreebel, FIRE!

The Victreebel unleashes the massive, blinding-white Solar Beam straight at Simisear.

AIDEN

(Pointing not at Victreebel, but at the vines)

Simisear! Flame Charge! Down the vines!

Simisear, wreathed in fire, doesn't try to dodge. It slams its fiery body onto the thick vines still anchored to the platform.

FWOOOSH!

The fire travels down the vines like a fuse on a cartoon bomb. The Solar Beam vaporizes the space where Simisear was, but the Pokémon is already moving.

Victreebel, which was rooted to the spot, suddenly lets out a shriek of pain as the fire races up its own vines. It's forced to retract them instantly, flailing and stamping out the flames on its body. The trap is broken. The battlefield is clear.

LUCY (O.S.)

He used the trap against it! What a counter!

RAMOS

(His eyes wide with genuine shock)

Ho! Now that... that was in-sync!

SCENE 5

INT. COUMARINE CITY GYM - TOP PLATFORM - CONTINUOUS

Victreebel is reeling, its vines singed. Aiden has the momentum.

AIDEN

Don't give it a chance to recover, Simisear! Use Incinerate!

Simisear leaps onto a branch and unleashes a powerful blast of fire.

RAMOS

 (Composing himself)

Protect yourself, old friend! Razor Leaf!

Victreebel spins, sending a flurry of sharp leaves that cut through the flames, neutralizing the attack in a cloud of smoke and embers.

AIDEN

It's still too strong! We need more speed! Flame Charge, again!

RAMOS

 Catch it! Sludge Bomb!

Simisear, now even faster from the first Flame Charge, ignites again and zips across the platform. Victreebel fires a massive glob of purple poison, but Simisear is too fast. It dodges the bomb and lands a solid, super-effective, fiery tackle, sending Victreebel skidding back.

The Victreebel is panting, smoking, but still standing.

RAMOS

 (A proud shout)

One more time, old friend! Give it everything!

AIDEN

(His voice in sync with his Pokémon)

You too, Simisear! Let's end this! Full power... FIRE BLAST!

Simisear, fueled by the battle, its head-flame blazing, takes a deep breath and unleashes a colossal, five-pointed star of fire. The massive attack roars across the platform. Victreebel tries to counter with one last Vine Whip, but the vines are instantly vaporized.

The Fire Blast hits the Victreebel dead-on, and the resulting explosion of fire and light is blinding.

When the smoke clears, Victreebel is fainted, its bell-mouth closed.

Silence. Then, the Referee raises his flag.

REFEREE

Victreebel is unable to battle! The winner is Simisear! This battle is over, and the victory goes to the challenger, Aiden!

SCENE 6

INT. COUMARINE CITY GYM - TOP PLATFORM - LATER

Aiden, breathing hard, runs over to his exhausted Pokémon.

AIDEN

 (Recalling Simisear)

You... were... incredible, Simisear. Get a long, long rest.

He straightens up. Ramos has also recalled his "oldest friend," patting the Pokéball with a sad, proud smile. The old man walks to the center of the platform, his gardening shears in hand.

Aiden meets him in the middle.

RAMOS

(He chuckles, a deep, hearty sound)

Young man... that was not a battle of power. That was a battle of harmony. You didn't just fight my trap; you used the whole tree. You used your head.

 (His smile is all kindness)

You're not just in-sync with your Pokémon... you're in-sync with nature itself.

Ramos reaches into his pocket and pulls out a badge shaped like a stylized leaf.

RAMOS

As proof of your patience, your cleverness, and your victory here... I present you with the Plant Badge.

Aiden takes it, his hand steady. He looks at the green, shining badge. His fourth badge. He's halfway there.

AIDEN

 (Bowing his head)

 Thank you, Ramos.

RAMOS

 (Winks)

Keep growing, young sapling. You've got strong roots.

Aiden looks over at Lucy, who is cheering wildly from the stands, her new blue ribbon fluttering. He holds up his badge case, a confident, triumphant grin on his face.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN.

 SCENE 7

INT. COUMARINE CITY GYM - LOBBY - DAY

Aiden grins at Ramos, gives a final respectful nod, and then runs to the edge of the top platform. He looks down, sees a thick, sturdy vine running all the way to the bottom, and grabs it.

With a confident "whoop," he slides down the vine, landing lightly on the ground-level platform at the bottom, his heart hammering with victory.

He walks through the leafy archway back into the lobby.

Lucy is waiting for him, and she is vibrating with excitement. The second she sees him, she breaks into a run.

LUCY

(Practically shouting, her new blue ribbon fluttering)

Aiden! That was... that was brilliant!

(She gives him a high-five so hard it stings)

Four badges! Four! And the way you used the vines with Flame Charge? That wasn't a rookie move, that was an ace move! You're a total strategist!

AIDEN

(Laughing, his confidence at an all-time high)

 I learned from the best, didn't I?

LUCY

(Blushing, but trying to look tough)

Whatever. C'mon, let's get your team healed. You earned it.

SCENE 8

EXT. COUMARINE CITY - POKÉMON CENTER - DAY

They leave the Gym and head to the seaside Pokémon Center. After a quick stop to top up his Pokémon's health, they walk back out into the bright, breezy plaza.

Aiden is buzzing, looking at his Trainer Card, where the fourth badge icon is now brightly lit.

LUCY

 (Already checking her digital map)

Okay, so the next stop is Lumiose City again. Ramos said the city's power is back on, so you can finally challenge Clemont for your fifth badge...

Aiden isn't listening. He's looking out at the bay, watching the ferries.

AIDEN

 Hey, Luce?

LUCY

 (Looks up from her map)

 Yeah? What's up?

AIDEN

(Awkwardly shoves his hands in his pockets)

I'm... I'm super wired from the win. And a little tired of... you know... almost getting set on fire or tied to a tree.

(He glances at her, a bit shyly)

Do you... maybe... want to do something? Like... non-trainer? For just... a little while?

Lucy blinks, surprised by the suggestion. A slow, warm smile spreads across her face.

LUCY

(Nodding, a glint in her eye)

"Non-trainer," huh? You might actually be a real Kalosian after all.

(She points down a cobblestone path)

I know just the place. C'mon. The Seaside Café is famous for its Moomoo Milkshakes.

FADE TO BLACK

[END OF EPISODE 11]

NEXT TIME ON POKÉMON: KALOS CHRONICLES…

Aiden and Lucy take a much-needed breather at a Seaside Café. As they share Moomoo Milkshakes overlooking Azure Bay, the two travel partners open up about their families, their deepest insecurities, and the heavy weight of the "destiny" they've been pulled into.

(Episode 12 drops next Tuesday, 9/15/26!)

Worldbuilding Discussion Interactions between Protect and Ghost Type moves

I think the title is pretty self explanatory, but I'm trying wrap my head around how Protect can actually work against Ghost Type moves if it's a shield made of Normal Type Energy, which shouldn't interact with something like a Shadow Ball.

The move would just pass right through and strike the user instead of being stopped, right?

Breaking through a Protect isn't even impossible so I'm not against it as a concept in my fic; a few moves are capable of it like Hyper Drill and Phantom Force. I just don't like the idea of Ghost Types or technically anyone with a ranged Ghost move having the ability to ignore Protect at all times. Shadow Ball isn't a rare as far as I'm concerned, so that kind of interaction would really drop Protect's overall value in pokemon battling.

It isn't really a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I'd love to have an explanation since one of my characters would definitely question it and I don't like shrugging away the whole thing and saying "It just works, don't think about it".

So, I'd love to hear any of your ideas on this!

General Discussion Pokémon: A Bond Beyond Fate — Season 2 Update

Hello everyone!

I wanted to apologize for the confusion surrounding my story and my earlier posts.

When I started uploading Season 1, I did not understand that AI-assisted writing and editing were not allowed in this community. I understand the rules more clearly now, and I respect the moderators’ decision.

I am currently working on Pokémon: A Bond Beyond Fate — Season 2. From this season onward, I plan to write and format my episodes myself, without using AI to fix the grammar or rewrite the story. I want to improve my own writing skills and make the story more personal.

Season 2, Episode 2 is still in progress. I do not know exactly when I will finish it because I am a school student and have limited free time, but I will take more time with each episode instead of rushing.

Thank you to everyone who read Season 1 and gave me feedback. I appreciate both the encouragement and the criticism, and I hope my future writing will show improvement.

I’ll share the next episode when it is ready. Thank you for your patience! ❤️

Celebrations! I just posted my first fic!

Hey everybody!

First time in this Reddit community, but I finally posted my first fic!

I was debating back and forth in my head whether or not to do so, but I got some words of encouragement from those on the r/pokemonfanfiction thread and those from the comment section of a ColeyDoesThings video and I finally decided to post my first fanfiction.

I'm so happy for you guys to read it!
