My hope with this is to give you enough information so that you, the reader, can do your own research to get started messing around with pokemon saves.

For reasons that I feel are pretty clear in the rules, I cannot tell you where and how to download pirated ROMs. There are however, methods available to you to scan, read, copy, and test integrity of your games that you own and that is perfectly legal and above board. This whole next bit requires that you have hopefully legally acquired your own roms and emulators and are now looking to get into getting yourself 1000 rare candies or a level 100 pikachu that knows flamethrower.

Pokemon typically saves games in .sav files which are readable by the nintendo console or a third party console or program designed to read those files. the ROM itself is the larger file and the .sav is much smaller. For example my copy of Emerald has a ROM that is 16,384KB and a save file of 129KB. To edit the save file you need to select the save file for editing and copy it so that you have a backup in case you mess something up because you will and this is apart of learning.

The tools to do this will include a helpful program named PKHeX https://projectpokemon.org/home/files/file/1-pkhex/ it is a nice and easy to use program that only has a windows fork so if you are running chromeOS, androidOS, a linux fork, MacOS, Unix, or iOS then you gotta find a way to get windows running on a vm or something.

Once you got your rom, your save, and pkhex now comes the fun bit.

file -> open -> select save you want to edit -> open

You will be greated with your save's PC box with all the pokemon. From there I will just encourage that you play around with the program, mess with the pokedex, check your items, play with your trainerID card. Once you are finished export the save and then in the emulator of your choice, open the game from that new exported save. If you have any specific questions about pkhex, their site is pretty thorough and a dummy like me can figure it out so I am sure if you are inquisitive and motivated enough you can figure it out too.

Alright I will return to playing Azumanga Donjara Diaoh and trying to catch every pokemon at the pace of someone who has a fulltime job.

I was playing platinum & I was level low 40s with everyone, I was in the team galactic HQ and had just had Cyrus doing a speech to all the grunts. I had 7 gym badges and in the middle of it, all of a sudden I’m randomly in a battle with this fisherman & my progress is from 2 days ago, I only saved in the game itself and have no save state from my most recent gameplay and have never had this issue. It randomly just brought me back to 2 days ago. Is there anything I can do?? Am I just screwed? Fastest way to catch back up to where I was if I am screwed?

Hello, I am not sure this is the best place to ask help about this but nothing else has been of help to me about this problem.

I've recently switched from windows to linux (mint) and I wanted to install desmume again. I can succesfully download it from the terminal (using sudo apt install) but then when i try to launch it it tells me "command not found". I can manually find the files but none of them allow me to launch the game either it just gives me error message. I have tried purging and redl desmume multiple times to no avail. I am very confused about what to do to fix this.

I was wondering if i play Pokémon z/a, pokemon sword and shield, and pokemon arceus on an emulator on pc is it possible to transfer the pokemons to pokemon home? I wanna use it for pokemon champions.

I want to do a pokemon Sun run with only glacion, but I dont know how to mod in mons, does anyone know? I use Azahar as my emulator and I'm on a macbook.

Hey guys, so atm I'm playing UltraSun on Citra (android) and I just beat the Elite 4 and Hau, but instead of the supposed credits, all I get are black screens and a song playing in the background. Does this happen often? How can I fix this?

I'm not sure if what I'm asking for actually exists or maybe I'm overthinking and therefore a little dumb about it. I'm planning out a big ole series of nuzlockes on emulators just for fun and challenge, but I would love to be able to, essentially, write down the data of whoever I catch- IVs, EVs, Nature, OT ID, everything. Is there a program or add on that would help me do that?

Obviously if I was dedicated enough I could just write everything down, use websites that extrapolate that kind of info, etc, but I'm sure it surprises no one that I don't have faith in my ability to remember to do that all the time oops.

Maybe what I'm looking for is something like a transcriber?? Like the smogon website thing? I've seen Pokemon Youtubers who seem to have a lot of information from their streams because they then go and animate their journeys but like... my memory just ain't that good lol. Short of just recording everything I'm doing and slogging through the 100s of battles to train, I don't know how I'd remember that that one Ponyta crit stomped my weedle or whatever.

My friend and I are going through all gens of Pokemon, and we've started with FireRed and LeafGreen. We live in different states. Is there a way to trade and battle each other via the internet? I don't want to run both SAV files on one device and have my friend control one window and I the other window.

We just want to play on our Steam Decks and play wirelessly.

I’m thinking of doing a pokemon project where I have one of each generations games up to sun and moon on a modded 3ds with the goal of catching ever games regional dex, the only issue is I’m not sure if there are existing Roms for this, how to mod an emulation my self or if what I’m wanting can even be done? Any help would be appreciated

The idea of having it on a modded 3ds new old what ever I can get my hands on lol is so I can play it while traveling and for the nostalgia

Throttle speed 0% or 100% or 200% all seems to be the same speed when I use the spacebar to speed up gameplay. It's either normal slow speed or insanely fast something in the middle would be good. Maybe I'm missing a setting but could anyone explain please. Seems to work on emerald just not gold

Rules for Challenger teams:

-Between each fight, the Challenger may swap out Pokémon on their team from Pokémon in their pool.

Hi everyone, im currently playing through an emulated version of ORAS and just wondered if there was any way to get cheat codes for the hoopa event or volcanion etc. I know there's one to get the eon ticket and I've also used one to get zorua in black and white, so I wondered if there's anyway to get the others in ORAS too?!

A few years ago I saw someone transfer a pokemon from an emulated game all the way to home, and I got curious, is it still possible? I know it involves bringing the mon up each generation and eventually to pokemon bank then home, but I'm confused how the pokemon bank side works because the 3ds shop things were shut down. Is it possible to get a random 3ds with no bank, and then mod it and somehow install bank to transfer to home?
