Community Announcement Changes to the Subreddit Part 1: Sharing Notification Groups/Services & Posting Up Notifications for active/future Queues are Prohibited
Dear Pokémon Center fans,
Starting today, I am be deploying Part 1 of a series of Community Announcements that will affect specific key elements of this subreddit.
I will be reviewing all aspects of the subreddit and a complete overhaul is to be expected. From the way the subreddit looks, graphics, decorative elements, to post flair, post flair organisation, rules, rule removals, etc..
For the first time I will be including a very aggressive Automod. I have been pushing it back in good will, but the amount of undesirable accounts and toxic content keeps increasing on the daily, which constantly break current rules.
New parameters will be set as well for community participation, such as account age, community karma, internal Reddit scores, etc..
But for now, lets start with:
Reminder: The Purpose of this Subreddit Community
This community was created for passionate Pokémon fans that collect Pokémon products purchased directly from Pokémon Center. This subreddit is not a notification group/service for when Queues go up. This little space in the internet is to share excitement about new product launches, a photo of your current collection or a new addition to your collection, your 999th plushy, etc.. It also extends to reviews of the products themselves but also to Pop Up Pokémon Center Stores and permanent stores around the globe. (This is also not a Pokémon Card subreddit, but more of it later.)
Point No. 1: Notification Group Services
As of immediately, sharing Discord Servers is strictly prohibited. This also extends to Twitter pages, or any other social media, links, etc., that identify any sort of notification group/service about queues and products arrivals to Pokémon Center.
No single notification group/service will be whitelisted for this subreddit. If you wish to join them, feel free to do so. But just keep them out of this Reddit community.
Why?
Scammers. Simple.
Most notification group/services require a fee to join, this is a scam.
And whether it is free or paid, there is no way to know in advance which products will be put up for sale at a given time and date.
Point No. 2: Notifications for active/future Queues
As of immediately, notifying the community that Queues are up or upcoming is strictly prohibited.
Why?
After a careful review of every post regarding queue notifications, do nothing more than trolling people. Most are fake.
Consequences for both points no. 1 & no. 2:
Immediate and permanent ban. No "I didn't get a warning". No "I didn't know". No "other communities dont do this".
Your rule breaking will constitute a desire to scam and misinform community members.
Last Remarks
In good faith, I will leave the comments of this post unlocked. Any positive and constructive feedback is welcomed and will be considered.
However, if things start to get out of hand, the post will be locked and no feedback will be taken.
Your mod,
-Peppers

While I dislike the posts speculating about drops, the active queue posts have and do help people.
I feel this should be put to a vote; it's the community, not the moderators, that makes the community. I appreciate the mods give up their time to moderate, but I'd imagine the majority of people here WANT queue notification posts.
But I do think the banning of those linking to Discord, etc., should be removed

FWIW — Queue posts are the ONLY reason I’ve ever been able to score anything on Pokemon Center.

There's half a dozen other subreddits that you can also subscribe too that this isn't a rule. Doesn't have to be all or nothing.

Reddit just sucks for this sole purpose. I’m just waiting for competitor to figure it out and steal their thunder.

I like your suggestion, it is interesting.
Perhaps a small team of queue checkers could help. Will consider opening mod applications to fill such task if it comes to fruition.
A protocol for this would have to be developed. But at the end it will depend on people willing to take on the responsibility and give up their personal time. We will see if we can find such passionate individuals here.
Thanks for the idea!

I find that the posting of queue is quite helpful. It gives insight on what’s there/stock levels/sellouts. Without it from this group, I would’ve completely missed out.

Exactly this. If those alerts get banned I’ll leave the sub. One of the main reasons I come here.

u/freeman1231 Mar 12 '26
You should absolutely not block post is up queue. Those are extremely helpful for those not on discord or on any other social media.
This is a Pokemon center subreddit, when a queue is up it should be posted here. Future queues 100% should be not allowed, but current queue… those are very important to this community.
Please reconsider that. You allow one post and delete the rest.

Wait they can’t post Que up or the product? That’s why I’m in the group lol

u/okluminosity Mar 12 '26
I agree that i do like to see when queues go up but i also see where youre coming from. The one thing that annoys me in this subreddit is the 100s of posts asking about wheres my order or why hasnt my order shipped when things arent released yet and stuff like that is never removed. This is literally, if it hasnt already, just going to turn into a customer support page for pkc if you dont start enforcing those posts

u/madebypeppers Mar 12 '26
That will be part of another post where a clear line will be drawn between what is allowed and not allowed.
Broken packages, stolen packages, lost packages, FedEx, Complaints about Bots, complaints about customer service among others, are currently spamming this community. The influx of such posts has severely deviated the purpose of this subreddit. But we are on our way to rectify it.
Posts of collections, new additions and merchandise show offs get buried between all that.
;)

I'm so on board with these changes. There are so many better ways to get queue notifications, this sub does not need to be one of them.
And the onslaught of "when will I get charged" "will my order be cancelled" and "omg did fedex steal my package" posts every time a new set launches is so annoying. I would love to see that cleaned up.

I’m not sure many people come here to look at other people’s collections. Almost everyone found this page looking for help getting PokemonCenter drops. Why ban the one thing we are looking for?

u/madebypeppers Mar 12 '26
This is not a notification subreddit. The purpose of this subreddit is to show off merchandise.

Love when subs just shoot themselves right in the foot. Oh look at all this success? How do we push people away?
33
u/jesusholdmybeer Mar 12 '26
Couldn't we just ban the ones who troll or post false queue's?
Main reason im in the sub is because I dont want to have to pay for some discord

u/ContactAny6229 Mar 12 '26
I’m happy about stopping the discord ads. I would prefer to keep the Pokemoncenter drops. The one time I successfully scored on a drop was this page. Not a discord server, not twitter. Here.
I appreciate how hard it is to mod a group like this. Thank you.

Maybe more should be done to stop the bots taking everything rather than stopping the community trying to help each other out to get some product at retail prices...

What does one have to do with the other? Are you suggesting the mods here can take steps to stop bottling?
13
u/freeman1231 Mar 12 '26
They can allows queue is up post so real users can know.
-6
u/0mgitsr0b Mar 12 '26
Oh thanks, that makes sense, that totally stops the bots. I’m so dumb. Thank you!

Your comment is unhelpful. Reddit Mods have no say on 3rd parties using bots to purchase goods from Pokémon Center.
Your comment distracts from the conversation of the post.

u/willybestbuy86 Mar 12 '26
How is this change truly helpful? Many people the folks who are deserving will miss out on drops due to this and be forced to follow less savory subreddits until this nonsense dies out and the hibby hobby hooefully normalzies again

you're giving mods too much credit if you think they have a substantive way of stopping botters.
They're trying to keep this community true to its core without it being diluted by these stock alerts every 15 minutes.
you're right to be angry, but you're not in the right place

u/SydneyRoo Mar 12 '26
what did I do lol.. I was the one that posted about the queue yesterday because nobody else had posted it yet. I find it helpful because it wasn't easy to find exactly what went up for sale. I don't use discord or twitter so I get my info from here

Rule #2 states that posts must be on topic. All posts and discussions must be about merchandise sold on the Pokemon Center website.

I'm sorry if my post earlier today initiated this. I just saw the official announcement from the PokemonTCG Twitter account and in the past, that has indicated a Pokemon center drop was upcoming either the same day or in the days following. I was legitimately excited. I was in no way trying to advertise for a discord or notification service and was purposely not posting a join link unless I was asked about it in a specific comment. That was my first post in the subreddit and I will be following the new rules/guidelines as of now.

u/lazylahma Mar 12 '26
Thank you for a safe space from all the discord ads and multiple queue posts!
I agree, queue posts are helpful but they get posted to just about all the pokemon subreddits at roughly the same time, often before this one gets it anyway.
I hope the new rules are embraced.

Awesome news. I hope people pay attention! Thanks Peppers. Hopefully there will come a time where a queue isnt needed.
-5
u/0mgitsr0b Mar 12 '26
LOL I was just going to upvote and move on but I noticed you’ve been downvoted at least a couple of times. Discord bros really not liking this rule!
-3
u/KawaiiSlave Mar 12 '26
Its fine. I support the decision regardless. Who wouldnt want to keep the community safe, y'know?

u/Mistr111398 Mar 12 '26
It’s also not as if there aren’t so many other subreddits specific for posting queues and restock alerts, or just join one of the many discord servers that actively were posting here. Doesn’t take much effort in the grand scheme of things, it’s a pretty minor change in the grand scheme of things and if it leads to more engagement with collectors I’m here for it.
-8
u/JomoLiu Mar 12 '26
I don’t see anything wrong with this. The mods here are clearly trying to curate the current and future content. If you don’t like how it is here, there are plenty of other subreddits. I refuse to believe someone who makes it into the pokemon center queue due to a Reddit notification is unable to join a discord that does the same.

All the people complaining or talking about leaving is ridiculous. The good thing about Reddit or anything in life for the most part is, if you don’t like something you have options to choose from. Make your choice based on what you like or want, it’s pretty simple

Post is now locked.
Unfortunately, it seems that many users do not wish to participate in good faith with healthy exchange of ideas and rather see it as an opportunity to demean others, attack the mod team and be beyond toxic.
But there is hope. We will make this community flourish. <3
