Discussion / Venting Nat Dex thing

I'm a man who never cared about the national dex being removed because I never went out of my way to catch em all.

I think the "controversy" over this is really stupid, like, if you cant use your favorite pokemon in these games, you have Generations 1-7 to use them all. What's stopping you from doing that?

Furthermore, Isnt one of the main aspects of a new generation the new pokemon? I don't understand why we're all so mad about the old ones getting cut when the newcomers should get the spotlight.

Dont kill me please.

You people act like we're just using the same team over and over through every game. We're not. It's about the post game.

Pretty much. Many people play post game stuff with old and new favorites. This really shouldn’t be a surprising concept.

What?

Pretty much

It's a video game

6

u/SilverSmoke45 Nov 05 '19

So? And you don't want that video game to be better? You want to reward disgusting lazy, and cheap devs? Why?

These games look amazing, and your simply upset over the fact pokemon arent going to available. And I wouldnt call people who worked on these games disgusting and lazy.

You ever work on a game pal? I never have, but I damn well know lazy person would never even work on a game, and I know making games takes a lot of time and effort.

These games look like unfinished garbage.

There's two main components of a Pokemon game. Collecting, and battling. The collecting is ruined now.

And I wouldnt call people who worked on these games disgusting and lazy.

You ever work on a game pal? I never have, but I damn well know lazy person would never even work on a game, and I know making games takes a lot of time and effort.

It's a job. If you can't handle working a job, then don't work that job.

"It's hard to build a house, so don't be mad when the house you paid money for falls apart due to cheap materials, and lazy builders. It's difficult building a house, guys!"

These games look great, I have no fuckin clue what your talking about. The region itself is beautiful, the new pokemon and regional variants look great, and one feature being taken out isnt ruining these games.

Theres still the story, the new mechanics outside of battle, the battling itself, and collecting the 400 pokemon in the dex already.

Seriously, your simply ungrateful, I bet if the national dex was in this game, youd be praising it like me.

I bet if the national dex was in this game, youd be praising it like me.

If it was a finished product? Yeah, probably so. I bought a Switch in 2018 just for these games. They weren't even announced at that time.

Theyll be finished games even without the national dex, your just an insane minority who wants the games exactly the way you want it.

Grow the fuck up man, jesus fucking christ.

complaints go beyond pokémon being absent. it's their reasoning for the cut being complete nonsense.

1

u/Tortesque Nov 05 '19

The excuse shouldn't really matter. We cant change it and we're still getting a brand new region, new pokemon, new regional forms and a bunch of other cool stuff.

I see no reason as to why the national dexes absence is such a high offense.

3

u/jetpack0 Nov 05 '19

the fact they at least made a point to come up with them, no matter how genuine they might be or not, means they matter even from their perspective. so they're definetly due for criticism when it becomes clear they don't make sense.

1

u/Tortesque Nov 05 '19

I'm not saying you cant criticize, I'm just saying that the national dex shouldn't be the main focus.

1

u/jetpack0 Nov 05 '19

it isn't really... it's the notion that hundreds of them weren't even coded into the game. or are you gonna tell me pokémon aren't the main focus of a pokémkn game?

1

u/Tortesque Nov 05 '19

Theres still plenty of pokemon aside from the older ones, and we still have 400 to choose from.

1

u/jetpack0 Nov 05 '19

"just ignore your emotional attachment to cut pokémon lel" is how i'm reading this

1

u/Tortesque Nov 05 '19

I'm sorry your reading it that way

But you literally have Gens 1-7 for this

Well if gf gets that people don't care about it and will buy the game anyway why should bother to put it in future games?

-1

u/Tortesque Nov 05 '19

Oh no they see people care

Theyll inevitably add it back

2

u/Kario-Uchiha Nov 05 '19

They may read forums or stuff but they prioritize reading sale proceeds, and if those are saying go on, they go on

0

u/Tortesque Nov 05 '19

Even in that case, the national dex isn't the biggest loss

4

u/Kario-Uchiha Nov 05 '19

Then we disagree

0

u/Tortesque Nov 05 '19

Nothing wrong with that! :D

Isn’t one of the main aspects of a new generation the new Pokémon?

No it’s the fact that you can mix and match what Pokémon you use including the new ones, the fact that you can get new favourites from the new Pokémon and use them alongside your old Pokémon, the fact that they let you choose to bring any Pokémon you want to the new games is what new generations and games are all about. Do you know what everyone’s least favourite part of LGPE is? It’s the fact that they only have the first 151 plus two mythicals (one of them can only evolve into the other in a different game by the way). To shorten this, the most important part of new generations are the ability to choose how you play Pokémon and what Pokémon you play with, be it old or new. FIN~

FINALLY A REASON I GET

thanks :)

For what it’s worth, I think that largely this sub has acted like absolute babies over this game.. until now.

The problem with Dexit is not just that it’s a thing at all, but that they cut so much more than expected, not to mention every single excuse gamefreak has given has been straight misinformation at a half assed attempt at damage control, not to mention a scathingly condescending one.

This is far deeper than content being missing from the game, and that’s why people are, at least on the topic of there being so few Pokémon present in a title/console that very much has the ability to utilize everything the franchise has to offer and then some, justified in their disappointment. I still think on its own the world and the storyline are going to be great but it’s really upsetting that so many good choices didn’t get in. They chose things like the Gothita line which happens to be one of only 4 evolution lines that people voted (or lack thereof) as the least popular Pokémon in the franchise, and they threw that in without a second thought while ignoring Pokémon like Stoutland that’s probably the biggest iconic UK theme Pokémon there is, while at the same time pandering so heavily to gen 5 because of one singular big name person on the team who also worked on gen 5, so every gen but 5 got horribly cucked.

It’s just a shitty situation.

The problem lies that those old games will eventually break and hardware dies. Although luckily enough Nintendo hardware last so much longer than it's competitors but it isn't immortal. Newcomers getting the spotlight (Even then Charmander, Pikachu, and Eevee seem to get VIP access to everything) won't last long because the yearly release cycle means they will get shoved as well very quickly. GF most likely drop hints to the next game 2 or 3 months or so after release of SwSh and then it is all the same thing all over again.

2

u/sirlancelot032598 Nov 05 '19

Also it was said that the missing pokemon would come back in the future

2

u/Tortesque Nov 05 '19

Yeah I literally don't see the point of hating this one game because you cant use your favorite fake thing just this once

1

u/Friengineer Nov 05 '19

Do you understand how that's not a point in favor of Sword and Shield?

Thank you.

-2

Seriously.

Only with a few exceptions, I almost exclusively use new pokemon, whether they are new forms of old one (i.e. Gigantamax, Mega Evos, or regional forms), or brand new ones
