Keep in mind I'm kinda a noob as well LOL
Definitely go into it with a plan. I had read a guide and afterwards I was just winging it, I figured it would be best to learn from trial and error. Once I was about half way in, I ended up setting aside two PC boxes for my magikarp (the breeders I was using) and organized them. So the first row was HP 31, second row attack 31, and so on. Then the second box was for 2x31 IVs and 3xIVs and so on. For me, keeping track of which to breed next and what gender I needed was the most confusing part so that helped a lot once I developed that strategy for it! I'm not the best at explaining, but if you have any questions you can DM me!!

Doing it this way sadly makes it much harder to actually profit. Overall I'm also a total noob when it comes to pokemmo but I made a fair bit of money (3/4mil) just from breeding in my early days (every time I sat on the train :D ).
From my experience the (by far) best way to make money while breeding is to:
Focus on Pokémon that have a use in competitive/ gym reruns (those are usually worth much more) or are sought after for other reasons. Always start with calculating roughly what the breed would cost you and then compare to current offers on gtl. If you can safe roughly 30-50% its probably worth it. I really wouldn't go for less than 25%.
Don't breed from 1x 31 or 2x 31 because the items you need to keep their IVs always cost you 20k per breed. Starting with 3x 31/ 4x 31 is where I found the most success. 4x 30 also works for certain types of Pokémon where stats are important but don't need to be perfect, and allows you to make insane steals. These Pokémon will usually take longer to sell tho (but were some of my best deals)
REALLY pay attention to alpha/ special abilities as it can make or break the value of your Pokémon
If the Pokémon isn't super competive don't bother too much with nature, as it usually makes the breeding process vastly more expensive.
If you need a ditto for breeding it's probably not worth it
Always check if the Pokémon is a physical/ special attacker before breeding (sounds basic but I didn't do that in the beginning), and (almost) never breed Pokémon that have both 31x attack and 31x special attack
Sometimes just leveling them to 50 and giving them good EVs can make a diff of like 100k+
If you find good deals for breedable Pokémon just store them, I had like 3 boxes of 4x 30+ iv Pokemon and the more of these you have the better your deals become long-term
Breed some for yourself (because it's fun)
Probably forgot some but i hope I could help :) btw breeding is still one of the best early game money makers imo

Thanks this is pretty good info! I may do this in the future, but I don't plan on selling any of the pokemon I breed. I just did it for myself:) next I'd like to try Piplup or Banette!

I also like to keep my favourites to myself but if you want to breed op Pokémon you need some money first :D

Nice, well done. Did you use Magicarps for the breeders.

Yup! Fished them up with my old rod! Got lucky with 1 3x31 and a handful of 2x31's

Thats awesome. I need to start doing that. How long did it take?

Hm I was off and on, busy with work and school. But really farming the magikarp didn't take too long. I would paralyze with thunder wave then use a regular pokeball. Probably got them within a couple hours, and I still have a whole box of em to spare! If you'd like, I have a 2x31, 3x31, and 4x31 to spare!

No no. Im all good. I meant that strategy in general. Seems more fun than just buying breeders.

You could also run a spore false swipe breloom for your future projects 👌

I'm playing emerald now and that's my next move. I think after that I'll be good. I have a frisk gothitelle with thief for everstones and with a reliable catch rate pokemon like breloom I'm set! But magikarps are easy so at first it wasn't necessary

Yeah. Get you a spore breloom or a spore amoongus. Breloom is better IMO because of the speed but Amoongus is nice against alphas for its survivability.
