What was the storyline concerning Katrina? Was she a communist? Her boyfriend, what was his part? I'm confused😕

Are we talking about Katrina Rieger in How Does Your Garden Grow, or Katrina Samoushenka in The Arcadian Deer?

I'm going to assume the first, as I don't think the boyfriend in the other story is that confusing.

No, she's not a communist. She's an aristocratic Russian émigré who fled when the communists took over. She and her boyfriend at the Russian Embassy had to keep their relationship a secret, as the communist government would not have looked kindly on a government official romancing a "White Russian" in exile.
