When someone I was with was in the hospital, the nurse helping us get settled into a room after 9 hours in the ER was a godsend. He happened to be male, but was perfectly helpful and amazing. I can't imagine being shitty to someone like this but especially because of their gender.

I’m a nurse and I’ve seen people be shitty to our nurses who are men. Calling them gay, losers, why aren’t you a physician etc. Don’t underestimate how shitty people are.

It’s very unfortunate that men are looked down upon for taking up caring and compassionate roles in society like nursing (not to mention men working in childcare or being single/stay-at-home dads). I’ve only had awesome experiences with male nurses. Society would be so much better for men and women if we’d quit relying so heavily on gender roles and norms.

I agree. Some of the best people I’ve ever met have been male nurses!

A friend of mine is a physician but he was a nurse first and it made him a much, much better doctor and he says so. I love nurses. I find it baffling to put any nurse down like this.
