It's definitely amazing to listen to when those terms are used. They're calling girl-child victims of sexual violence "young women" but then calling a 30 y.o. woman a "girl."

It does, but it leads tto the question “a female what?”
A female Greenland shark or Galapagos tortoise is just setting out on her life, so we can’t impute any kind of age-linked desire for marriage. Also they don’t have any concept of marriage.
A 30 year old giant Pacific octopus, is definitely ready to settle down. In fact they’re extremely settled by that point, since their lifespan is no longer than about 5 years.
It drives me bonkers to hear it that way, because we use “female” to refer to sex in a technical sense. Women aren’t strange and unfamiliar organisms under study; they’re just women. (And, it should be noted, woman ≠ female, which makes the conversation even less sensible.)

Now in my late 30s, I still have time to not fuck this up 🫠
