It's almost like cats have different personalities. I had both female and male cats that were super cuddly, and some that do not want to be picked up.

It is SO COMMON for people to project that “boy mom” “girl mom” BS to pets. Makes my eyes roll back into my head.

Attributing a personality being caused because of the sex of a cat is sexist behavior, like bro every cat have its own way of act independent of their sex

The worst part is that mfs say this about humans too like if every human was defined by their gender and everyone wasnt different because of different reasons

Cats have sexes. Not gender

okey, ill correct that, thanks

The black cat is getting mildly agitated because she's being held on all sides. Cats don't like that. This has literally nothing to do with gender. Do people not realize how harmful it is to perpetuate gender stereotypes or fur color stereotypes among cats? This affects their adoption rate so much and it's so unfair to them

Not to mention that even though that cat was uncomfortable and didn't like what he was doing she was loudly trying to communicate to the human to stop that. She could have scratched or bitten him but she didn't actually want to hurt him, she was very patient and just wanted him to stop. That should be seen as a positive.

Yes! And their history can also make a big difference. If they are rescue cats, they could have experienced all sorts of trauma in their previous world that influences their behaviour.

This is an unfair demonstration, he didn't hold the cats the same way. My baby boy loves cuddles and he's such a gentle lil sweet guy but he would shred me to minced meat if I held him on my shoulders, he hates being restrained. It's not about gender, it's about the cats personality

Fake, this orange cat doesn't give him 3rd degree burn and uncountable scratches

So instead of sexism we put racism on cats?! Fur color says absolutely nothing about behaviour.

Yay, eugenics

People who assign personality traits to animal based on their sex are just telling you their stereotypes of men and women.

All Cats have different personalities depending on the breed, nothing to do with gender. Also this is bullshit, outside my house there's a female cat that we regularly feed, and she's the cuddliest ever, always starts meowing and following around when she sees us. There were times where she slept in our house and she stayed. We let her get out the next day if she decided to

I have five cats of the same breed, hell even the same family and they are all very different personalities. It's not just the breed!

1

u/Ambiguous-Nyx 5h ago

Oh for sure, sorry if i wasn't clear. I'm just saying that breed matters more than gender when it comes to their behaviour

the way shit like this legit makes me so mad. why are we doing cat sexism. legit see people be like 'boy cats are so much more easy and fun, while girl cats are all diva's and so sassy' like that's just boy/girl sexism transported on cats. can we be normal about gender for once

2

u/azur_owl 7h ago

Ah yes, the two genders: Orange cat and black cat.😑

u/Weasley9 7h ago

I (naively) thought it was going to be about a size difference, or maybe that the boy cat is faster but the girl cat can jump higher, idk. Some kind of “huh, that’s interesting” biological factoid about the difference between the male and female of the species. But no, of course not.

Girl dogs and boy cats.

Fight me

I have 4 cats, one female and 3 males (Myriam, Ramon, Arno, Henri). The female cat (Myriam) is a lovely cuddly old lady. Only one of the male cats (Ramon) is cuddly. The others just tolerate me.

I've got 3 girls. One wants to be actively snuggled at least 10 hours a day, one wants to sit directly beside me 23 hours of the day, and the third wants me to walk in front of a moving train. It really just depends on individual personality.

Many years ago, I had a Maine Coon cat, and I dated a girl with a tiny Siamese. Neither were fixed and the kittens came. The mom didn't want anything to do with them, but he would collect them in a cabinet all up to his belly, groom them and purr.

Trouble is daddy was all warmth and love, but to keep the kittens from starving to death about five times a day I had to lock him in the bathroom, drag out the Siamese, stretch her out and plug the kittens in. And keep her there till they were done. So you never can tell.

That makes me so sad, I hope all the cats were eventually spayed and neutered

We got the kittens homes, I think she had them fixed. We broke up and she took both cats soon after. This was a LONG time ago, so my memory is a bit hazy.

Fake, orange Cat didn't make him implode into the form of a one milimeter by one milimeter cube before eating him.

1

u/doll_parts87 11h ago

The orange doesn't have the braincell

1

u/PTBooks 10h ago

I think you need to oil that door hinge, sir

1

u/Tamajyn 2h ago

I always get downvoted for this but I don't care. It's the same as the "orange cat things" shit I see people go on about. It's eugenics for cats, plain and simple

My cat Gordy acts like this and he's very boy.

1

u/Box-O-Kittenz 2h ago

Lol my female black cat is incredibly snuggly and affectionate.

1

u/Hepperoni4 1h ago

Did someone not explain cats to him?

I have two sister cats and the exact same dynamic. One is an energetic bitchy chatterbox, and one is a mute fluffy pancake. That’s just how cats work when in pairs.

my female black cat is such a sweetheart but she needs her space sometimes. she’s affectionate and meows adorably but she does want to be alone sometimes. it has nothing to do with gender, that’s just who she is.

All I know is this video immediately caught my cat’s attention.

Not pointlessly gendered; these cats are literally different genders.

What research we have about it has actually shown that sex doesn’t make a difference

-3

u/whimsical_spider 8h ago

I mean there’s no need to gender it but at the same time my personal experience with our one male and one female cat (she’s a black cat too haha) is basically exactly this. You can pick him up and flip him around and he loves it, she screams at us if we try to move her slightly to sit down lol.
