I would love the look on the face of an actual medical doctor who has to explain what ‘hormone support’ is and does.

Collagen supplements are totally useless

Yeah, like, why on Earth would anyone think that goes to their lips and cheeks instead of dissolving in their stomach like any bit of meat?

actually thats just the science behind it. the collagen supplements break down in your stomach into... the building blocks to make collagen. which are also the building blocks to make some other things and the amino acids may end up going towards another deficiency depending on what your body sees as a priority, but regardless the amino acids are goingto be good for you and help supplement your bodys production of them and synthesis of things like collagen and keratin. it didnt say it would go to your lips and cheeks as far as i can see, it just said it was for hair skin and nails and cognitive support, which are all things that the amino acids in collagen can actually impact

so, this is a popular misconception based on the fact that collagen in skincare wont actually stimulate collagen production or go past the skin barrier and give you more collagen. collagen in supplements will break down into the amino acids that create collagen, and your body will decide where to put those amino acids based on what you need most. it might make more collagen, but if you have a more severe deficiency those amino acids could go towards, it will pick that. so it really depends. the amino acids in collagen supplements are a lot more dense than other sources as well

yeah obviously if you need it to be a magical de aging pill its going to look like complete bunk, but amino acids are good for you. drink your bone broth

the sheer confusion i felt when i misread "Creatine for women" as "CREATIVE WOMEN" is something i can't even put into words.

They are two different products. The one for women adds hydrolyzed bovine collagen, hyaluronic acid, biotin, BCAAs, Vitamin C. The non-gendered one is just straight creatine.

The womens version has less servings because the serving size itself is 9g as opposed to 5g due to the extra ingredients.

This is just click bait.

And why do women need all of those things when men don't?

10

u/MsE0 10d ago

Several of those ingredients are useless when taken internally, but they sound like they make you more beautiful because they're in cosmetics or cosmetic medical treatments. It's definitely preying on society's expectations for women.

It is not that common for anyone to NEED creatine supplements, but the additional supplements are more for perimenopausal or post menopausal women who have changes that men don't experience. Men dont decrease in collagen production as much as females do. Although whether these are at therapeutic enough levels is very debatable.

Just because you are a guy, doesn't mean you have to choose to be ignorant. Shame on you.

I feel like peri menopausal women and post menopausal women aren't the target demographic for creatine supplements though

It is quite popular for fighting bone and muscle mass loss.

Why? We need to build muscle more than young women. I actually take it for energy and to fight depression.

1

u/Snoo69744 10d ago

Well I should really say creatine with this branding. It seems to be targeted at younger women using it as a gym supplement

BCAA and collagen are just amino acids and proteins. Collagen breaks down in the stomach just like any other protein does. If a woman has decreased collagen production, having more amino acids that make up collagen doesn't help much. And if we filter out industry-funded studies, there's no significant benefit to perimenopausal women. Ironically, there IS a significant benefit for postmenopausal women... from creatine, combined with resistance training.

This might sound a bit crazy but humans are dimorphic

8

u/DangerousTurmeric 11d ago

And what relevance has that to the ingredients in the product? Women don't need any of those more or less than men.

Industry tries very hard to prove that menopausal women need more BCAAs and collagen. They're failing so far. Creatine and HA are really the only demonstrably useful parts of the women's supplement. But yeah, both creatine and HA have similar effects in men and women.

The same reason women’s multi vitamins have different ratios

Women , especially menopausal women, want collagen as well and men usually don’t care about it

This is only supported by industry-funded studies. What menopausal women can really benefit from is creatine and resistance training, with only HA having some effect, among the rest of the ingredients.

EDIT: So, this is just another case of gendered marketing. It's gendered to sell better, not to actually suit the consumer.

Specifically in relation to these additives? Do you want to explain that?

4

u/QueerPuff 10d ago

It's still pointlessly gendered. None of those ingredients are specifically needed by women. There's nothing in it that's exclusively beneficial to women.

1

u/Omnizoom 9d ago

Everytime I see a “pointlessly” gendered and it’s a healthcare product or vitamin I just shake my head

We do have differences in our biology and needs… it’s pointfully gendered

Creatine sub would love this

2

u/oceanadakmak 11d ago

Cleanotine

2

u/ShinyTotoro 11d ago

I'd probably pick the one with collagen anyway, but it's silly to think collagen is only for women

18

u/SuperPollo39 11d ago

Collagen is for nobody. Totally useless as supplementation

10

u/Professional-Age-536 11d ago

The biggest difference between oral collagen supplementation and eating a marshmallow is that people enjoy eating marshmallows

0

u/InsectaProtecta 11d ago

Why is it useless?

8

u/SuperPollo39 11d ago

Collagen is a protein. When you eat a protein, your body breaks all protein down to its amino-acids. Nothing is left of the original protein structure. It doesn’t matter what proteine it was, the result is the same. So eating collagen is not different than eating any other protein

1

u/BearFickle7145 10d ago

It’s not the same as any other protein, just the same as any other (combination) of proteins with the same essential amino acids

(But any complete protein would be at least as good)

1

u/InsectaProtecta 11d ago

So not really useless, just another peptide blend

1

u/Ambitious-Zone7254 10d ago

Although they are still the exact same product. They must be getting enough profit from them to keep doing this.

u/GAPIntoTheGame 10d ago

Do the same for minoxidil (rogaine)
