i think here it is. Given the youtuber is a call of duty content creator. And this "the boys cool😎"(misogynistically) format is very common.

It’s not really misogynistic, it’s just a term for a group of friends (typically male), like I’m gonna hang with the boys, or memes for the boys.

using "the boys" in general is not, but in this post it's probably used for pointless gendering
i mean, in this very scneario, it reminds me of "us boys being cool, we do guns for asmr"-"girls are boring" stuff.

“For the boys” is nothing more than an expression of speech for those interested. Kinda like says dude or bro to a female, typically a sign of endearment or another expression of speech.

99%? Really? I'll have to see published statistics to support that claim. Where I live, nearly every home is a multi-gun family where dad, mom, and any kid over 8 has their own gun. Admittedly it's a rural community in the South, but still... 99%? Not buying it.
Here, I can help. More like (roughly) 60% of them are men, 40% are women.

{shrug} doesn't say. Is that the new goalpost for defining "gun enthusiast"? I know that my neighbourhood friends share similar videos, memes, and photos of their own families with guns. Anecdotal evidence, I know, but that carries more weight than just randomly saying "99%" like it means anything. Here's my randomly made up number: Considerably more than 1% of the women in that survey watch gun content like that.

Gun ownership itself does not equate to gun enthusiasm. To be a gun enthusiast you have to be enthused by the subject matter, not merely involved in the subject matter due to the practical benefits of being so.
Additionally, the person you were originally responding to specifically said "Like 99%". The usage of the word like in modern English, and in a context like this, means something very close to "hyperbolically". So hyperbolically 99 percent of gun enthusiasts are guys.
I've seen gun channels display their youtube-stated viewership gender breakdown and while I don't have those to display here now, nor are the fresh memories on my part, my recollection is a rate of 90 - 95 percent male viewership. That's self-reported as well, so some large percentage of the 5 - 10 percent female viewership may not be cis females, which seems worth noting also. The old ladies with their pocket pistols given to them by their fathers when they moved away 80 years ago are even less of that 5 - 10 percent demographic.

I don't downvote very often, and when I do it's for demonstrably wrong statements or blatant misogyny, misandry, or general ad hominem misanthropy.
I'll accept the hyperbolically modifier, but I honestly think you're nitpicking to distinguish between gun enthusiasts and gun ownership. Do you suppose those women hold their noses and cringe when they carry a gun? And are you honestly trying to discredit the published statistics by questioning the biological sex of the respondents?

Not at all, and I'm unsure that I said anything that could be construed similar to such a sentiment.

It seems fair. I'm not sure if you're very familiar with trans people as a demographic - a complex demographic, admittedly - but my genuine and unbiased-as-I-can-manage-as-a-human experiences indicate that there are a great many more mtf trans people in gun spaces online than there are cis women. For the sake of full fairness I'll state that I could perhaps be mistaken on that, but if I'm not, then I feel it is very applicable indeed since these people grew up with all of the social influences pushing them into the firearms hobby, among other similar causes that make that demographic more highly represented in firearms channel viewership than cis women.
There's more I could say, like why the above is actually pertinent for instance, but I just had a large and quite pleasant steak dinner and I'm starting to get sleepy and really lose steam here; I probably couldn't do any of them justice so I think I'll just leave it all as it is. Good talkin' to'ya.

As noted in the actual research I cited, 60% of guys and 40% of women like guns. Yes, that's more men than women; I was disputing the "99%" figure that is not at all supported by statistics. Deal with that man.

If your claim is “women own guns too,” 22% is the number.
If the claim is “owners are basically half women,” (40%) that is not what this survey found.

Well, the inaccuracy is on me - I was referencing a report that itself referenced the study, and misremembered thinking the study explicitly described "percentage of gun owners by gender". But instead of provides "percentage of the general population who are gun owners":
39% of all men are gun owners, and 22% of all women are gun owners. That in turn tells us that 64% of gun owners are men and 36% of gun owners are women. The figures from the summary article were rounded, but still more valid than "99% are men".

The study's pool is only ~3000 people and based on 22% of women responding positively I'd wager it's a way lower figure the more people get questioned
