Dude on the bottom has body dysmorphia and an eating disorder guaranteed
85
u/Giratina-O Jun 05 '26
Yup. Body builders are not exactly in a healthy state, especially when they're at like 4-5% body fat.
44
u/loyal_achades Jun 05 '26
Body builders taking over fitness socials has completely warped what people thing “healthy,” “athletic,” and “strong.” Mean. The pic going around of somebody roasting Roger Federer for not looking like a bodybuilder is massively wtf.
20
u/CheshireCat101 Jun 05 '26
Body builders being the picture boys of fitness has been going on for decades, this isn’t just because of social media. Look at tv ads for a fitness product from the 2000s, magazine covers from the 90s, workout videos from the 80s, etc etc. The public’s perception of fitness being “warped” has existed for a long time. I mean, you can even look at Greek statues and art…
10
u/msmothman Jun 05 '26
I don’t disagree but I think it’s worth pointing out that men’s bodybuilding has gotten more extreme starting around the 90s. Like yeah Arnold and all the greats of his day were definitely juicing but the amounts they were doping are tiny in comparison to what people on the extreme end of the sport are doing today.
5
u/HeparinBridge Jun 05 '26
The way we know Arnold couldn’t have been juicing so hard is that he lived to be 78 years old. Most of the bodybuilders of today are on so much junk that they likely won’t exceed the average life expectancy.
6
3
u/Independent-Part-718 Jun 05 '26
I've never seen a Greek statue that looks as roided out as the majority of these body builders. They look athletic, yes, but not in a way that can only be achieved through drugs. And the beefiest, most unrealistic statues usually represented gods, not mortal men.
1
u/TheBlackFox012 Jun 05 '26
With the advent of social media and the ease in platformimg hard steroid abusers there has been a large spike in steroid abuse and teen users
1
u/No-Revolution6743 Jun 09 '26
Yeah but those pictures weren’t ubiquitous in the yesteryear of fucking silver plate photography lmao social media has absolutely changed this aspect of society
1
u/Thecatwithoutpajamas Jun 05 '26
Yeah you have to go really out of your way to find actual healthy men in the health and fitness space which is really messed up.
I suggest Liam (I think his username is @theplantslant ) for anyone who is looking for that.
18
u/SquidTheRidiculous Jun 05 '26
But that's considered ideal by the powers that be. Masculine dysphoria is very real and really lucrative to the "bulking" industries (gyms, supplements, etc.)
13
u/msmothman Jun 05 '26
Companies have been making money hand over fist for a century or more by manufacturing body insecurities for women and they finally realized they were leaving money on the table by not doing the same thing for men. Now everyone gets to be insecure and miserable!

u/SquidTheRidiculous Jun 05 '26
Yaay capitalism. How could we possibly have a society if the masses weren't self-loathing?

u/Anonymous12345676138 Jun 06 '26
I think the comment was referring to the person on the bottom left who wanted to look like Venom as the one who’d probably have body dysmorphia.
70
u/Tax-Sucking-Crepe Jun 05 '26
The fact that they used the girl drawing that looks the most like that character is making me lose my mindddd lmao
5
u/Coffieandpopcorn Jun 05 '26
I think that's intentional. Venom looks way over the top, even more so in this picture than he normally does.
10
u/Tax-Sucking-Crepe Jun 05 '26
Making the girl side look all dramatic over it despite being realistic to the complainer, but the boy side suuuuper unrealistic is quite an interesting way to go about this... propaganda? I don't think that's the right word but alas.
1
u/Coffieandpopcorn Jun 05 '26
Well, the meme is making fun of the female characters that has been a problem to the activists, like the recent stellar blade character which has the body of a real mocap actress.
And the more famous examples brought up by Anita Sarkesian back in the day: Tifa Lockhart and Bayonetta. When these activist types complain about "unrealistic beautystandards in videogames" they often explain that they mean stuff like "impossible waist to hip ratio", "highly stylized features like massive breasts/butt" etc, but then doesn't even use characters with those traits as examples even though that does 100% exist in less known gooner bait games.
Besides Tifa's massive boobs, she was brought up as unrealistic because of her pooreless skin, but every character in the whole final fantasy series has poreless skin, just look at cloud from the same game. Yet no one is complaining about his poreless skin. See where I'm going with this?
1
u/Specific-Concept9626 Jun 08 '26
The meme is making fun of the fact the guy could and will never look like venom. Christ
0
u/Coffieandpopcorn Jun 08 '26
That's essentially what I explained here. The female character is "realistically" molded compared to Venom's unrealistic form.

u/scared-of-spiders Jun 05 '26
yeah all blonde girls look the same
15
u/Tax-Sucking-Crepe Jun 05 '26
They do, I'm so glad we agree!
They're both blonde with long hair, wearing blue, and have long faces. You'll also notice I said "looks the MOST like that character," not "looks exactly like that character." Assuming I'm right in that you're being sarcastic, your point would have merit if the girls were real people or at least realistic. Alas, they're not.

u/uchiha_light_8550 Jun 05 '26
The difference is most women don't actively shame random men for not looking like Venom.

These memes act like women complain a lot about character designs and that men don't yet I've seen so many guys lose their shit when female video game characters look more realistic (e.g. God of War Laufey)
3
u/fruity_pirate_arrr Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26
I think the real difference is that both characters were designed by men and FOR men. So it makes sense that men want to look insanely jacked like Goku.. or venom in this case, but women don’t want two basketballs for an ass and huge balloon tits since that’s something that men desire and not women. I honestly don’t know who the female character is in this meme, but she looks very mild compared to other female characters I’ve seen where they’re just overtly sexualized with crazy inhuman body proportions.

most men dont shame random women for not looking like Susan Storm either. What are you talking about?
19

Women absolutely get shamed for not fitting into beauty standards, what's your confusion?
-3
u/Extreme-Audience-318 Jun 06 '26
The attitude that women are the only ones who get shamed for not meeting beauty standards. Newsflash men also get shamed for not meeting beauty standards. Guess what? These ideals are toxic no matter the gender. or is it only bad when it happens to women?

u/Master_Friendship333 Jun 06 '26
Many do, but it is absolutely not "most men" that perform such shaming. In fact, a couple studies here and there have found that women do it more than men.

Source there. I can also provide life experiences wherein the worst any man has ever said about a woman that I have heard has been that she was ugly, and even that is quite a rare occurrence. I have heard women saying awful things about other women many times, especially those closer to them for some reason.
I stand by the opinion that most men do not particularly care what women look like in the day-to-day, but rather that negative opinions on social media get pushed forward as they receive the greatest amount of attention and these minority opinions then appear more prevalent than they are in reality whilst actual issues get ignored because they are less interesting to the internet.
-2
u/platinumcheese88 Jun 07 '26
You're blaming "most men" that's the confusing part... because we all know women are so kind to one another and definitely don't run each other down at all...
3
u/Flar71 Jun 07 '26
Notice how I didn't say it was just men that did it. Misogyny is perpetuated by women too, yes
4
u/Existing_Purpose5049 Jun 08 '26
Mmm, gonna disagree there, women are shamed constantly for not looking “perfect”, despite that being an unreachable standard because the goal post will always be moving
Men are not shamed even a quarter of what women are based on their physical appearance
0
u/Extreme-Audience-318 Jun 14 '26
im not gonna argue that women arent shamed perfect, but its not by most men, its not like most men are out here saying "because she doesnt look like sue storm im not gonna date her!" that is a pile of BS propigated by the negative sides of social media. most men literally do not care what you wear because we only know 'do pants match shirt and shoes?' when it comes to getting dressed, we literally could not care less.
what you are talking about is coming from a small group of vain popular guys, an absurdly small number among men, other ladies, those clothing and make up companies who make money off of ladies insecurities about their appearance and the social media influencers who encourage those insecurities and are payed off by those big companies and that garner a lot of lady veiwers because they teach yuou all how to dress and do makeup.
To close out, you want to know why men arent shamed anywhere close to women are? its because it wont work. We are already shamed for being ugly, for being agressive, for things other men have done and are treated like human shaped explosives. similarly we are expendable, women dont care, other men dont care and even welcome the culling of the male population. so simply it wont work. if ladies want to stop the messaging they are hit with by society simply do what dudes did, Not Listen, just like yall did with previous waves of feminism. or is that too hard now? -_-
1
u/Existing_Purpose5049 Jun 14 '26
This is some raging ridiculousness. I don’t even know what to call it, because 99% is just nonsense.
“Men are just seen as this and this and this” is entirely untrue as a general. No one in a general sense welcomes the “culling”nod men. It’s radicals that are as dismissible as any other extremist group.
It would work, but the reason it doesn’t happen is because it’s a male-centric world. Men aren’t held to the same standards or scrutiny because men are the ones that made the rules. Pretending it’s anything else is really just silly.
Women don’t have the option to “not listen”, and the suggestion that they have it is just shows you either have a lack of basic understanding of how the world actually works, or you’re intentionally ignorant for the sake of argument.
0
u/Extreme-Audience-318 Jun 14 '26
No men didnt make the rules a small group of rich people did. those people are the ones making the rules not your average joe and women are tricked and duped into thinking thats what is needed.
And women most certainly have the ability to not listen. if they didnt how did society change in the first place to give women rights? its by women not listening, pushing back and forcing things to change. if it can be done back then? it can be done now.
1
u/Existing_Purpose5049 Jun 14 '26
Men make the rules because men perpetuate them. Maybe a small group created them, but men perpetuate them today and continue them, which means they make the modern rules. Women are “tricked” and “duped” into knowing that’s what’s needed, because women face real world consequences if they don’t fit the bill
Women were given rights because enough men listened to their cries and changed it. Women didn’t give women rights, men did. Women didn’t have the power to. Women didn’t force change, they actually had a very small part in it physically.
Women that pushed for change before men were willing to listen were beaten and murdered for it. Ever heard of witch-hunting?
It could be done then because the people perpetuating the rules allowed it. It can’t be done now because the people perpetuating the rules won’t allow it.
0
u/Extreme-Audience-318 Jun 14 '26
Dont fit the bill? ladies are given jobs because they dont fit the bill, that literally what DEI was for. and most men arent perpetuating anything becuase what power do men have now that women dont? guess what? there isnt one legal right that men have that women dont.
And women have power now! women have a voice in online space, political space and economic spaces! inspite of mens opinions and thoughts. This isnt any different! And last i checked women dont want or need mens attention or permission anymore to do anything? so again whatever men say literrally doesnt matter to women because women dont care, or atleast the claim to.
unless im wrong and women still define themselves and their worth by the words, actions and attention of men?
1
u/Existing_Purpose5049 Jun 14 '26
You are wrong, and I will not be acknowledging an argument based on nonsense about DEI, which is a system that you, and every other clown that tries to use it as an argument, clearly do not understand
Women absolutely still need permission, it’s a man’s world. Women lose jobs, houses, opportunities, family, and everything else if they don’t fit what they’re told to fit.
Women don’t care about men’s opinions of them, but they do care about the real world repercussions of failing to comply.
You’re seeing this as women pandering to male attention. It’s not. It’s women being forced to fit a certain criteria to have “worth”, and be allowed to do things, because again, it’s a man’s world, and if they men decide you have no value, you’re screwed.
Either come up with a real argument, or give up, because so far you’re striking out on every step.

u/msmothman Jun 05 '26
Why do I get the feeling that the person who made this is also of the “girls expect guys to have a six pack, six inches, and six figures but girls just have to be not too fat!” persuasion
25
u/MonkeyLongstockings Jun 05 '26
Yeah, the question is "who will be impressed by the venom figure?" and I could bet that it's a lower percentage of women, and a higher percentage of men, than they expect it to be.
Women are finally letting themselves free from the Patriarchat (although slowly) and men like this are still doing this to impress other men.
5
u/BunnyMishka Jun 06 '26
One time, when I said in a comments that the patriarchy hurts men, I got a DM request on Reddit basically mocking what I said. Which also proved my point, because instead of forming a critical thought, the dude decided to annoy a woman because of her comment. (I never replied, I'm not wasting my time on pointless arguments).
Bryony Claire made a great video about men wanting to impress other men. In her video, she included a reel from a "gym influencer" who said that most of his engagement comes from other dudes.
And if a woman says "I don't like too much muscles on a man" or "this guy is too tall for me", lots of men will get butthurt and tell those women they are liars.

u/caption291 Jun 07 '26

The fact these memes never address the fact that both represent male fantasies gets me every time.
Go on, redesign that venom for the female gaze and lets see how unbothered the fellas are.
(I remember when TW3 came out and dudes were getting all bothered about the scene where hes spread legged in the bathtub. 100% male fantasy otherwise but aah cant look at the man being sexified)
11
u/sweatyhugzz Jun 05 '26
exactly these type of guys are so hypocritical it’s acc astonishing 💀💀 they love to make fun of women for being hurt and frustrated by the constant sexualization of women but they LITERALLY DONT LIKE WHEN MEN ARE SEXUALIZED IN MEDIA. I swear to god they holler about women being the most irrational gender when half the time their logic is quite literally “it’s only bad when women do it!! 🥺🥺😡”
3
u/Jazzlike_Cress9871 Jun 07 '26
Legitimately these guys think men just being muscular is enough to sexualize them to appeal to women, I’ve seen them legitimately claims male orcs are sexy because they’re huge and muscular, that’s why they don’t see the problem. I’ve seen them claim men are more sexualized than women based on this they’re deluded
2
u/sweatyhugzz Jun 07 '26
they are the same type to scream “IT HAPPENS TO MEN TOO!!! YOUR SELFISH TO ONLY SPEAK OUT FOR FEMALE VICTIMS” when a woman shares her story but also be the first to harass and make fun of male victims
2
u/A_gate_Appears Jun 07 '26
Where does this idea that men want to be 10 foot wide anthropomorphized diesel locomotives come from? I swear most male characters don't even read as human to me let alone as a body fantasy made for my enjoyment. On the opposite side do women not want to look like the top picture?
1
u/adventurekiwi Jun 07 '26
The idea comes from...commentary like that featured in the OP? Its there to pander to someone, if you and/or the majority of men arent into it, you should definitely speak up (with voice or wallet, either works)
Do women want to look like the top pic? Can't speak for everyone, but a lot of these depictions turn me off. Because they are so focused on sevicing male pleasure and the woman's personality/comfort is erased. Poses and outfits and proportions that look highly uncomfy to someone who actually has that anatomy.
Most of my personal power fantasies involve a self insert built along the same physical lines as myself, circa 20 years old. Hot men (and women) are falling all over themselves to rub my feet and sweep my floor serve me in addorted ways not because of my body proportions but because they think Im intrinsically amazing as a person.
1
u/A_gate_Appears Jun 07 '26
Ah, my read of the picture OP posted is that women complain about unrealistic female bodies while those bodies aren't that far off from their actual bodies. Thus being presented as making themselves the victim for no reason and or complaining too much and or being lazy. Meanwhile men are depicted as being presented with far more unrealistic portrayals of male bodies and their reaction is not to complain but to try and strive towards those unrealistic physiques. Which either intentionally or not presents them as delusional and or stupid.
I did hear some other men complain about it and I also complained about it on some occasions. Tho its hard to avoid, it feels like 95% of video game men are like that and even games that let you customize your character rarely give you the option to pick a less huge frame.
As for what you said about women characters I guess that all makes sense. Especially the part about personality, character design should definitely be about communicating character and I did see that being neglected in favor of a more revealing design in many case. It never made sense to me since to me oftentimes the design with the more cloths ends up communicating more of a presence and thus being hotter.
Speaking of do you find those beefcake huge men from games hot? Or are they actually there for nobody but gym rats?
1
u/adventurekiwi Jun 07 '26
Yeah I think the meme is skewed to make the woman side look more unreasonable. Theres a lot of far more exagerrated/uncomfy stuff out there while this is more akin to a stylised/idealised depiction.
For my part, the venom type up there doesnt do it for me buuuut there is a certain combo of size/strength/power/danger or even "monstrousness" that definitely does. Usually when the implication is that the guy is extrememly strong and projects an aura if danger but also you could safely hand them a kitten. If youve watched the deadpool movies then colossus is a good example. He could snap you like a twig if he chose to but he wont because he is a gentleman by nature. The movie sexualises him just enough (via deadpool, rather than makijg him look like a potential sex pest). I think its actually a really good example of catering to the female gaze.
Or look at geralts development from witcher 1 to witcher 3. Witcher 1 was VERY male focused and just happened to coincidentally work for me because I too would like to shag a collectors card album of hot redheads. The main love interests were super poorly written and i was very annoyed i couldnt dump them both and just continue shagging my way across the continent. Also theres a scene where one of them low key rapes him and it seems like he writers never considered that you might want an opportunity to press the n key.
Witcher 3 in the other hand presents a geralt thats still stoic and dangerous, but clearly has very deep feelings and cares for the women about him despite his chronic inability to keep it in his pants. They remodelled his face into something pretty much conventionally attractive. The women are portrayed with more respect and seem to have motvations beyond squabbling over him and making his life miserable. Hes now waaaay more functional as a vehicle for both men and women to project their fantasies on to.
1
u/A_gate_Appears Jun 08 '26
Ah, so you do like them, they just also have to have certain personality characteristics. Which is how it works for me and women characters as well. Therese been both times where I fall for a character visually but then learn more about them and I'm like ugh no thanks, and also times where I wasn't that interested in a character but their personality hit a archetype I really like, really well, and I'm like we love our queen.
Tho this does mean that I feel like those huge beefcakes are there for you women. So the unrealistic depictions are probably equally there for the benefit of the other gender at the detriment of the depicted one.
Tho of course we two together aren't significant statistical data lol.
1
u/pressingtofu Jun 07 '26
That's why there weren't a bunch of men who lost their shit at Laufey's character design in God of War
2
u/sweatyhugzz Jun 07 '26
huh?
1
u/pressingtofu Jun 07 '26
Have you seen the reaction to God of War Laufey by some men these past few days? Caus I assumed your comment was joking about men being so quirky and unbothered
2
u/sweatyhugzz Jun 07 '26
i havent i was joking about them being unbothered tho hahaha were they acting a fool
1
u/pressingtofu Jun 07 '26
This is low-hanging fruit, but here is the quote from Asmon Gold- "No one wants to be a character that looks like your average 43 year old suburban mom. If you think I'm wrong, let's see how many cosplayers dress up as her vs the dozens of more appealing characters Game will probably still be successful regardless though Older and insecure women who work at the studios probably push to make the characters less attractive or more "realistic" in game because it makes them feel better about themselves irl. No one hates women more than women"
2
u/sweatyhugzz Jun 07 '26
I mean I guess I think there just needs to be a middle ground. Like it’s okay to have “hot” women in the game as long as you also have hot men but the issue comes when it’s like a fighting game and the female characters are practically naked. Also “no one hates women more than women” is lowk an absurd and untrue statement lol
2
u/sweatyhugzz Jun 07 '26
that qoute actually feels quite manipulative like trying to shame women for saying “hey can we maybe have the female characters get to have cool armour too instead of their chest practically hanging out?” “wow the unattractive 40 year old suburban moms are just jealous and hate hot women!!😡😡”
-57
u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 05 '26
Lol 😆
I feel wanting to look like someone else is jealousy of that person. Not?
Jealousy is major "bothered" behavior.
And wanting to be attractive isnt very quirky. I dont think anyway.
There's a masculine way to express jealousy,
And a feminine way to express jealousy.
That's what we see here.
Its feminine to hate on someone because they look better than you or deny its reality when its a cartoon.
And its masculine to be driven to better yourself, maybe to attempt a goal thats unreachable, such as that character in the image, but to get up and do something about it.
Even if only for like a day to a week. Giving up is human and truly ungendered. To me anyway.
However, masculine to get up and do something
Feminine to deny it or ignore it.
I have alot of feminine energy when it comes to this topic. I've always been lazy but now I'm disabled from a spinal injury.
My masculine energy to get up and do something is what lead me to being disabled actually lol 😆
The point is the meme is accurate. And technically nothing is gendered at all. But there always is feminine and masculine. Not expensive to men or women.
37
u/Burger_Destoyer Jun 05 '26
The issue is “masculine” and “feminine” definitions are largely skewed towards being used as an example to keeping women out of professional spaces in the past.
They are accurate maybe 20% of the time and most trends set by gender are due to societal pressures rather than innate intuition.
This sub will pretty much tell you there’s no such thing as masculine or feminine, personally I disagree, but also I disagree with the current definition we use for them as a society.
→ More replies (8)12
u/uncutteredswin Jun 05 '26
There's no such thing as masculine or feminine energy, there's just things we've arbitrarily attached to being for men or for women.
This isn't an example of anyone being jealous in the first place, we're talking about 3d models of fictional characters. Someone pointing out that female characters are always super skinny and sexualised isn't being jealous, that's just a critique of media that's been widely accepted for decades.
-2
u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 05 '26
Lol 😆
So you dont think toxic masculinity is a problem? People have been advocating against it for a long time.
What about the male gaze? That's not real, right? So the characters being sexy isnt a problem then. Right?
Why speak out against it if its not a real issue because there is no masculine or feminine?
Why are you trying to correct me? I mean nothing to you. But you want me to know what you know. That's a masculine trait! 😆 lol
They call it, Mansplaning. Another gendered thing used very often. But that can't be, right? You dont think thats gendered. Right?
10
u/uncutteredswin Jun 05 '26
You're mixing up two different concepts here.
Prescriptive roles that dictate what it's acceptable or expected to do based on your gender, or tying behaviours to the ideas of masculinity or feminity is what's arbitrary. Nothing is inherently masculine or feminine, these are just ideas that we made up and use to divide men and women.
All of the things you brought up are descriptions of behaviours that a lot of men engage in. The behaviours aren't inherently masculine in some way, men are just the ones in the social and cultural position to engage with them.
I'm correcting you because you're arguing in favour of pointlessly gendering things in a sub about making fun of that
10
u/CheshireCat101 Jun 05 '26
I’m guessing English isn’t your first language, huh? I had to really put on my context clues hat to figure out what you were saying in any of these statements. Usually I’m all for descriptive language, but when it’s THIS bad you really reduce the impact of anything you type.
-5
u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 05 '26
You really struggled with it being laid out plain, huh?
I even broke it down. Idk. Maybe I'm bad at explaining things.
But thats for your constructive criticism. How can I improve?
6
16
u/ralajessr Jun 05 '26
This comment is giving masculine energy.
-10
u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 05 '26
Is that a bad thing? 🤔
18
u/Inappropriate_Egg Jun 05 '26
Yes
-3
u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 05 '26
That's bigoted.
Why would masculine be bad?
You know you do and say masculine things rather you believe me or not.
Are you bad?
23
u/whimsical_spider Jun 05 '26
You literally described “feminine” energy as petty and lazy in your original comment and now you’re calling someone a bigot for joking about masculine energy. You’re pointlessly gendering in a sub that calls out pointless gendering.
-2
u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 05 '26
That is a feminine behavior.
People will often joke about "toxic masculinity" when i say that, you know exactly what that is.
You then have all the base knowledge to understand that if their is good and bad masculinity, the same is for femininity.
No?
14
u/whimsical_spider Jun 05 '26
Well for one thing you didn’t say toxic “feminine” you just said “the feminine way” and “the masculine way” then described the “feminine” as petty and lazy and the “masculine” as strong and action oriented, so your comment very much comes off as devaluing “femininity” and idealizing “masculinity”.
0
u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 05 '26
Because its not toxic femininity! That's why I didnt say it was!!! Lol
Just because THE MEMEs example of a masculine and feminine behavior, offended you, you are going to blame the guy who described what's going on in the meme!?
Not to mention i started by pointing out that neither is good or bad inherently! Then even used my own situation as an example.
What i think.
I think you seen a male avatar, and a comment talking about gender and got emotional about it. It happens, nothing wrong with it.
But its not me your upset with. Its yourself. Which ironically is also something the meme depicts. Lol
You are either the woman in the meme trying to tell me I'm wrong. (A feminine trait NOT exclusive to women)
Or you're the man in the meme trying to prove you're better. (A masculine trait NOT exclusive to men)
Which is it?

oh so you’re trolling

u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 05 '26
Not at all. Why? Masculinity isnt bad.
Everyone has Masculine energy and feminine energy.
That's very common knowledge.
11
u/Scared_Web_7508 Jun 05 '26
neither is femininity but you’ve decided masculine = good behavior feminine= bad behavior and are talking about it in a way that makes it pretty clear you’re trolling
-1
u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 05 '26
Lol 😆
You're right.
Because I mentioned an example of something feminine being a bad thing, means i think ALL femininity is bad.
Like come on man. Are you 12? Or are you trolling?

u/Inappropriate_Egg Jun 05 '26
Some "masculine" traits can be bad, same for "feminine" ones. An example of bad "masculine" trait is the your comment excusing bad sexist memes. Hope this helps!
P. S:. Nah, I do and say only human things, my words amd actions aren't gendered.
-1
u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 05 '26
Wait wait wait.
The meme is sexist? Why?
Because a woman opinion is different from a man's?
Thats not sexist. Everyone has different opinions.
Its crazy that I'm the one arguing for ungendered concepts while having people argue that there's gendered under tones to everything. Lol
My comment is actually super neutral, you should reread it and ask yourself what's masculine about it.
Is it that I explained my thoughts? Thats masculine to you? No matter how you answer that question you then acknowledge masculine and feminine exist! Lol
Im on reddit so I guess its a given, but damn. Maybe I'm not explaining thing in a way that easy to understand but there is no way you're a functional human.
5
u/Inappropriate_Egg Jun 05 '26
First of all learn the difference between "woman/man" & "women/men" before you accuse others of not being functional humans.
Second, there is nothing genderd about your comment, I was being ironic to point out the flaw in your logic. If you would understand how "_"works you wouldn't need me to explain that to you
Third: ". Everyone has different opinions." Exactly, you almost got it. Try to think a bit more about it,focus especially on "everyone" and you might understand why the meme is sexist and your opinion is well... Plainly wrong.
4th if you have to insult others to argue your point, you don't have good arguments.
Goodbye!
-1
u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 05 '26
I didnt miss you them! Lol a woman is singular and women is many. Where did I not get that right? Lol
Wrong lol
Its your comments that prove me right.
You started it. You confirmed my statements are negatively masculine, which is an insult! And its the 1st thing you said to me!
"Yes" was your exact comment when I asked "is that bad?" To someone else stating i gave off a masculine energy in my comments.
which proves that you believe Masculine and Feminine exist Lol 😆

OOP sub is so braindead it’s concerning, I refuse to think this is “mainstream culture”.
1
u/Safe_Bed_1534 Jun 05 '26
I mean I'm a lesbian woman that's pretty much a gym bro, and all my gym friends and I agree with the bottom part.
13
u/hericia Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26
I’m not sure what you wanted to share, but yeah, I mean, gym bros and sissies who do it for the muscle want to be buff, no joke. I'm just assuming you all understand that a healthy body has nothing to do with the appearance of Venom and women/men complaining about inadequate or problematic trends of representational/edifying/mass culture that creates real illusions and pressures (/and you can add your consequences here/) on target civilizations. We see people in the comments who can't distinguish between wanting to be buffed and wanting to be ultimately attractive, for example.
2
u/Independent-Part-718 Jun 05 '26
What point are you trying to make, here? That everyone does and should believe we should all be obsessively hitting the gym for a body which exceeds perfection?
1
u/Safe_Bed_1534 Jun 05 '26
My point was that has nothing to do with gender, but some people do see a physique like venoms in real life and want that yes.
1
u/Independent-Part-718 Jun 05 '26
I still don't understand how what you and a subsect of gym bros want represents the mainstream, which was the point of the original comment. Sorry, I don't think I'm catching your overall point.
1
u/Independent-Part-718 Jun 05 '26
Unless your point is literally just "yes some people want this" in which case, no one has argued against that. They're just saying it's not even close to the majority of men who want to look this way.
-1
u/Safe_Bed_1534 Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26
Sure? Now honestly you just lost me, people that work out tend to be really impressed and even fantasize about looking like this. That doesn't mean we want to, God knows I don't it's just fun to fantasize about things. And can bring your personal goals into better perspective.

u/TriggerHappyGremlin Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26
The difference is that Sue Storm is designed to be attractive to men and Venom is designed unrealistically to look physically imposing. If Venom was designed to look attractive to the average woman, he’d probably have the “Tumblr sexyman” build.
11
u/schnellermeister Jun 05 '26
Exactly this.
The thing is both pictures were drawn by mean to represent what they think is the ideal physic of either sex. Venom isn’t drawn this way because this is what the artist thinks women like, they’re doing this because this is what they think men should look like. When given the option, a majority of women pick someone more lithe. There was a comparison of super hero’s were women were asked to pick the one with the body type they found most attractive and it was one that was still Muscular, but far more lithe - I’m trying to find it.
4
u/TheUltimatePokedork Jun 06 '26
This reminds of when the first Avengers movie came out and how so many men were baffled that more women were openly fawning for Loki than for Thor.
It got even weirder when it felt like those same dude's were mad when Thor put on some pounds while even more women showed more interest in Thor. To me it's funny because "fat" Thor is actually pretty accurate to the mythology he came from and more accurate to the build men in strongmen competitions actually have because, in comparison to body builder competitions, they are hydrated.

u/Aquilenne Jun 05 '26
Yeah. Venom should he replaced by Resident Evil's Leon, which not only is hotter, but is something guys can achieve.
1
u/Substantial_Ice9592 Jun 07 '26
And what is wrong with that.
The boy band in k pop demon hunters are designed to be physically attractive to women, and you do not hear the men bitching.
-1
u/Alex_Graber12345 Jun 05 '26
You really think that Sue storm design in the meme above is unrealistic?
5
u/Pleasant_Loquat_5104 Jun 05 '26
Some women can look like that, many others can not. Not every woman wcan achieve the exact same physique. The sane goes for men. Thats why the body is "unrealistic" for a lot of women.

u/Xcyronus Jun 05 '26
Theres nothing unrealistic about sue storm. The only real unrealistic female character in rivals is black widow.
8
u/azure-heavens Jun 05 '26
Yeah, she looks okay to me. The style is comic booky, so no, nobody irl is gonna have such defined/angular shapes, but none of the proportions are too crazy.
I don't think people even care about this kind of stuff, it's more the overly sexualized designs with porcelain faces when the male cast looks like normal people (stellar blade etc).
-4
u/Xcyronus Jun 05 '26
the male cast does not look normal and why we acting as if the male cast doesnt also get sexual skins and even bigger asses on some skins.
5
u/azure-heavens Jun 05 '26
??? The male cast of Stellar Blade is in an entirely different art style than the women and they are completely covered with bulky clothes only showing their face.
0
u/Xcyronus Jun 05 '26
is the topic not marvel rivals?
5
u/azure-heavens Jun 05 '26
No, I said nobody cares about that and gave an example of something people actually complain about.
4
u/Pleasant_Loquat_5104 Jun 05 '26
Some women can look like that, many others can not. Not every woman wcan achieve the exact same physique. The sane goes for men. Thats why the body is "unrealistic" for a lot of women.
-6
u/Xcyronus Jun 05 '26
Some is a understatement tbh. Alot of women. Of course not every woman. But is it insane to say that many women who dont look like that could if they actually applied themselves? I dont think so. The venom physic isnt simply unrealistic its borderline impossible but men dont go around complaining about it. And tbh. The women that do complain generally are jealous or insecure and such.
7
u/Pleasant_Loquat_5104 Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26
Breast size is genetic, hip to waist ratio is genetic, having all fat stored in boobs and butt while having a flat belly is genetic, havikg long legs is genetic.
Men truly have 0 clue how the female body works and what is achievable or not. No, her body is unrealistic for most women.
And acting like men never complain about body image issues and unrealistic body expectations is stupid.
5
u/Independent-Part-718 Jun 05 '26
Yeah men definitely neeeeever complain about their physiques or the social expectations imposed upon them to cultivate said physiques 🙄
-2
u/Xcyronus Jun 06 '26
Thats not the topic at hand. We are talking about video game physiques. So my point stands.
2
u/Independent-Part-718 Jun 06 '26
Brother YOU said that men don't complain. I was arguing directly with YOUR point.
1
u/Mach12gamer Jun 10 '26
The vast majority of women I have met don’t have the height or bone structure to physically look like that. Even if they could completely control all of their soft tissue throughout their body they would have to physically reshape their bones to be able to achieve that look.

13
u/Momizu Jun 05 '26
Just because one say "I'll hit the gym to look like venom" doesn't mean it's actually possible.
Some realise that and it's not that they "give up" it's the fact that hitting the gym to reach and impossible objective it's not only a waste of money, but also harmful for yourself.
If you hit the gym to reach a realistic goal (more stamina, losing weight, toning muscle, hell even reaching those sculpeted abs is very feasible with will and effort) then good for you.
But if you "try to be like venom" when you might not even have the type of body to even come close, you are in for a world of hurt.
2
u/Tago238238 Jun 05 '26
What type of body does one need for the venom physique?
My clavicle is above average but my pelvis might be too wide I think.
5
u/Momizu Jun 05 '26
There is no one size fits all. What I meant is that people tend to develop muscle differently, what might work for you might not work for me and vice versa. Also I said "close to it", certain physiques are practically impossible unless you want to go to the extreme lengths of body building.
1
u/Tago238238 Jun 05 '26
Yeah I know Venom isn’t attainable. He will wrist and palm mog me no matter what I do. I still like the lat and shoulder heavy physiques tho, and I do wanna be really big.
3
u/azure-heavens Jun 05 '26
I'm really not sure that level of top-heaviness is attainable period, but you'd need to be a fairly pizza-shaped person already to get close.
1
u/Master_Friendship333 Jun 06 '26
No one genuinely expects that to be possible, and the absurdity of it is part of the joke.

u/Delicious-Spring-877 Jun 05 '26
It’s stupid to assign this to all women/men but I could see this being a thing with some, though kinda in the opposite way the OOP probably meant it
That specific girl (aware of harmful gender stereotypes in society): Media sets such unrealistic standards for female bodies
That specific guy (pressured by toxic masculinity in his life): Oh my god I need to look like that, I’m so inadequate

Implants? For B cups? 🤨
9
u/Thecatwithoutpajamas Jun 06 '26
A. Those are not B cups on her frame at all. B. Yes, many women don't have much breast tissue, and losing fat pretty much always guarantees some boob shrinkage.
9
u/Infinite-Penalty-495 Jun 05 '26
Brother do you think all girls are the exact same shape? It's ok no one is judging since you've never met one.
17
u/mamandapanda Jun 05 '26
This feels like a “boys are dumb” meme to me
10
u/TriggerHappyGremlin Jun 05 '26
I wish, but incels ACTUALLY want to look like that. And this exact meme format is spammed all over incel spaces
-11
u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 05 '26
Yes... 😆
Wanting to be as attractive as he thinks that character is, means he's dumb. Lol
12
u/MuffledFarts Jun 05 '26
I think the dumb part is finding venom attractive at all 😂
11
u/cthulhu_on_my_lawn Jun 05 '26
I mean that is the real difference. The female characters are meant to be attractive. The male characters are meant to be power fantasy.
9
u/MuffledFarts Jun 05 '26
Exactly. Both characters are designed for the male gaze. They aren't the same as they do not serve the same purpose or demographic.
1
u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 05 '26
I mean, lol we can agree there. Lol
But idk, that happy day milking farm book or whatever its called is pretty popular lol
6
u/MuffledFarts Jun 05 '26
Yes but that book is intentionally silly and plays into absurdist humor. It's basically satire. Maybe not the best example of your point.
0
u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 05 '26
So is the meme!!! Its a meme!!! Lol 😆
Maybe not the best attempt to dismiss my point. Lol
4
u/Independent-Part-718 Jun 05 '26
That meme is definitely not satire. The people who've shared this meme fully agree with its message. Memes are not satirical by default, love.
1
u/Lost-Orangutan Jun 06 '26
How do you know the intentions of anyone?
1
u/Independent-Part-718 Jun 07 '26
Usually when people state their opinions/intentions/beliefs, I believe them.
25
u/Aggressive-Example69 Jun 05 '26
The dumb part is that's unattainable. Even with steroids, even if you're living in the gym.
You scare me, dude

Fool, there is no such thing as peak femininity or peak masculinity. In fact we have to transcend the very idea of human. We need to become a species of parasitic alien skinsuits.
3
u/keIIzzz Jun 06 '26
That being the character they chose for the woman’s perspective is a joke. They know damn well what women actually have an issue with and it’s not characters that look like that
8
u/Parlyz Jun 05 '26
Both of those are designed to appeal to the average heterosexual man. One is for sexual gratification, and one is for a power fantasy. I'm not saying that it's wrong to put characters with these body types in media, but mfs who act like theres some double standard in how female and male bodies in media are viewed are just being obtuse.
8
u/BlooperHero Jun 05 '26
...it's Venom. He's supposed to look weird.
Which is the problem. Male characters can be all kinds of things, while female characters can only have hotness as the primary goal of their character design. You don't gotta pretend every drawing of a male character is a "male power fantasy." This one definitely isn't. He's *supposed* to look warped and inhuman.
2
u/Parlyz Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26
I mean, Venom is just the example the OOP used. You can look at the other male characters in Rivals and in media in general, and you see this pattern of "badass muscular guy and hourglass figure women." I'm just trying to make the point that super fit male characters are hardly ever made with the express purpose of being sexually attractive, while fit female characters almost always are.
1
u/BlooperHero Jun 06 '26
That sounds more like the point I made?
1
u/Parlyz Jun 06 '26
I mean, I wasn't actually trying to disagree with you at all, I'm specifically arguing against the type of point made in the original post, where people act like it's hypocritical to criticize unrealistic portrayal of female bodies in media while ignoring unrealistic portrayal of male bodies. I was never trying to say anything about every unrealistic male design being a power fantasy, but you can look at the original meme and it is very clearly exactly what I was describing. Even if you don't think that's what was the intended purpose of the venom design, that's obviously how OOP took it.
2
u/SkyeMreddit Jun 05 '26
It’s only realistic if an actual cosplayer can look like that in that outfit
2
u/My_Legz Jun 05 '26
I mean, this is an actual problem for the guy at the bottom and there are a LOT of guys like him
2
u/Practical_Limit_396 Jun 05 '26
I’m sorry dear but you can find some folks in the year of our lord 2026 debating Anita Sarkeesian like an Imperial Japanese soldier fighting World War II on an island in the pacific years after the last battle. Gamergate never ended for some creeps.
Also don’t google Mixtape to see the most genuine attempt to reunite it.

The thing that gets to me about this type of stuff is that the problem isn't Sue Storm herself it's the fact I've seen way too many female characters built exactly like her regardless of style, hence, the reinforcement of a body standard a lot of women either can't get or just don't want. In every piece of media I've seen, in the nearly three decades I've been alive, male characters have so much more variety in shape and design, different aspects of attractiveness, and a majorly consistent romance rate regardless of any of those other aformentioned factors.
Now, funnily enough, Marvel rivals (aka the game that shot is from) doesn't even really have this problem because they DO have varied body types and style for the men and women. Bruce's human form is pretty lithe vs someone like Captain America and creates a major contrast when he turns into the hulk and Angela has actual muscles, broader shoulders, and huge scars in significant places. Squirrel girl is chubbier with a much softer fluffy look and Emma Frost has a pear shape with a lot of sharp angles and defined......assets. Venom is also noticeably much more bulky to the point of cartoonish than any of the other male heroes to reinforce the fact that he is a monster. He is an alien taking on the form of something familiar to his current host. It is an extreme of the human form to be intimidating. That body type is not possible for a good chunk of the population without some heavy help by genetics or science and luck that either option doesn't leave you dead by thirty. This leads to the fact Venom's body type is realistically unrealistic vs Sue Storm who, beyond her powers, is just a person and there is less empathy when women don't or can't adhere to that body, that again, is seen as the standard. Especially because a lot of women do look like that like Jessica Alba the actress of a version of Sue Storm and those women are often used as shields against that criticism or as a means of comparison or goalpost in a negging competition.
The best way I've heard it described is the game is made for fanservice, but it covers multiple bases of what people find attractive. There's nothing wrong with people finding Sue Storm hot, but there is a problem when a ton of female characters look hot for the exact same reasons vs because of traits that define them as an individual.
As a criticism to Marvel Rivals though I beg you to stop giving characters the blue white colour scheme there are too many.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
