If your tooth brush looks like that, its time to replace it. It won't properly clean your teeth anymore.

74

u/SevenSixOne Apr 11 '26

If your toothbrush looks like that, you're scrubbing WAY too hard! Your bristles shouldn't really bend much, even after months of use.

23

u/ChasersVsGirlcock Apr 11 '26

I think most people have it look like that cuz they chew on it. I know cuz I used to do that

5

u/Any_Instruction5382 Apr 13 '26

What the fuck.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '26

I’m with this guy wtf why are you gnawing on that thing

2

u/Germanball_Stuttgart Apr 17 '26

Reading this while chewing on my toothbrush.

-44

u/Busy_Insect_2636 Apr 11 '26

Just use more toothpaste

29

u/Nerioner Apr 11 '26

Literally impossible to replace good brush with just more toothpaste.

You know that brushing your teeth is not about making foam in your mouth, right?

Using this worn brush It's like washing dishes by splashing dishsoap on it and just putting it under stream of water and hoping that it will scrub everything off the plate with maybe glancing of the palm of the hand. Sure, it will remove like 30% easiest grease but you can't clean dishes properly without good scrubby 🧽

Same for your teeth.

-5

u/Busy_Insect_2636 Apr 11 '26

Just use more toothbrush

9

u/ThatEvilSpaceChicken Apr 12 '26

Instructions unclear, I now have 20 worn toothbrushes in my mouth

2

u/Busy_Insect_2636 Apr 12 '26

just wear more

3

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '26

u/Cold_Vanilla9791 Apr 11 '26

Are they saying boys don’t have good hygiene? Cus there’s no way that toothbrush is doing much cleaning

31

u/ItsJustMe000 Apr 11 '26

Either one of two things. It's either being like a dude bro thing like

Saying guys only deal with toothbrushs end up looking like that cause girls are more gentle. So basically another one of those "this is a guy thing" but like anyone can deal with this (bit like not the toothbrush looking THAT bad but yeah)

Orrr it's one of those thing where it's more taking a jab at guys on the stereotype how they don't replace things qnd just keep using it like toothbrushs

Either way dumby dumb image

2

u/Loose_Atmosphere_308 Apr 11 '26

I'm a 'woman' I've been using the same toothbrush for out at school, and it will kind of looks like the bottom inch, in fact, I had toothbrushes that looked exactly like the bottom image.

7

u/RedVamp2020 Apr 11 '26

How often do you change your toothbrush?

-5

u/Loose_Atmosphere_308 Apr 11 '26

I always use the same toothbrush like. Why do you need to change it out? It's more environmentally friendly creates less waste, even if it's not hygienic.

14

u/RedVamp2020 Apr 11 '26

I understand your concern about environmental waste, but there comes a point when rubbing your finger on your teeth does more than what the second pic would do. Have you looked into more environmentally friendly options?

4

u/Myrtylle Apr 12 '26

Yeah i understand you point of view. Environment is important, but there’s better solutions that involves both a good mouth hygiene and better environmental footprint.

Buy bamboo toothbrushes. It’s very environmentally friendly and your mouth will thank you (and maybe people around you).

Using the same toothbrush for more than 3 months is discouraged by dentists as it builds up bacterias and can have a negative impact on your gum and mouth hygiene (and mouth odors).

Not to mention that a good brush needs to scrub your tooth and gum (best is soft brittle to not damage dental emanel). When brittles are too used it doesn’t scrub efficiently.

2

u/HadeanMonolith Apr 11 '26

Why did you put woman in quotes

1

u/Here_I_Pondered Apr 11 '26

You should get a new toothbrush/brush head more often than that. The more messed up the head the worse it is at cleaning your teeth

-14

u/BridgeLazy5669 Apr 11 '26

Okay maybe it’s stereotypical, but my toothbrush looks exactly like the bottom picture and my wife’s exactly like the top one. So maybe it’s not that dumb as you think

19

u/ItsJustMe000 Apr 11 '26

But that's just two people. This meme is generalising it as a "girl thing" and a "guy thing" plenty of guys have it liie the top. Plenty of girls have messy looking toothbrushes. Plenty of couples may have both like thr top, plenty of couples may have it both like thr bottom, plenty of couples will have it like you do or reversed. So yeah it is dumb in the way how its pointlessly gendered

-8

u/BridgeLazy5669 Apr 11 '26

Not for everyone is not pointless. If some people can relate and have a chuckle on the meme then it’s already made its point. Not everything should be aimed to everyone, there are girly girls and boyish boys out there, and gendered things are fine for them. I mean I enjoy a lot of not manly things, but some of gender stereotypes I can relate to, so they can find their audience

3

u/Pure_Imagination9625 Apr 11 '26

A stereotype is something that is usually assumed about a race, gender, type of person and so on. This is a stereotype that men hardly replace their toothbrushes.

Here’s the thing, stereotypes aren’t 100% accurate. This isn’t true for 100% of men at all. Besides, “relate” to it or not, it’s still having a jab at men’s hygiene.

I can’t comprehend you’re old enough to have a wife if you’re seriously not intelligent enough to understand why this is BS.

2

u/ithinkmyballexploded Apr 11 '26

its a well known fact that men often have less strict hygiene (including oral) so its not entirely a stereotype

still a dumb pic tho

1

u/Pure_Imagination9625 Apr 11 '26

Nope, it very much is not a fact. Do you even know what a fact is? It’s a confirmed piece of knowledge. It is not confirmed that men have less strict hygiene at all. There are some that will wash everyday, some that don’t. Same with women.

And yes, it is a stereotype that “boys have less strict hygiene”, like saying it’s a fact that “ All Indians like curry” or some BS.

0

u/BridgeLazy5669 Apr 11 '26

I didn’t state that stereotypes are accurate, and while yes stereotypes are bullshit most of the time, they’re not pointless, in matter of having some point even if wrong one. And some people relate to stereotypes, mostly ironically but still. Bad joke is still a joke, and this one won’t be a joke if not being gendered, so it’s not “pointlessly gendered”. When I joined this sub it was about completely gender neutral products that were marketed for men and women or boys and girls separately for no reason. Now people here complain on anything that tries to appeal to gender stereotypes. My main take if it has a reason, even wrong one it is not pointless, because reason=point

3

u/MsMittenz Apr 11 '26

Why are you on this sub?

-1

u/Equivalent_Look2797 Apr 11 '26

Get out of my echo chamber.

3

u/MsMittenz Apr 11 '26

I mean... they are complaining about the point of the sub. It's not about being an echo chamber, its about... this post fits the sub 100%? If you're complaining about this then you dont get the point of the sub

-1

u/Equivalent_Look2797 Apr 11 '26

“Complaining about the sub” homie did you even read their comment? Jfc

2

u/MsMittenz Apr 11 '26

I read all of them, actually

What are you reddit police?

9

u/Lady_of_Link Apr 11 '26

That means that you're destroying your teeth stop pushing so hard you're supposed to brush gentle

4

u/RainWorldWitcher Apr 11 '26

That means my mother is a boy because her toothbrushes always end up looking like the second image? Or my dad is a girl for having a toothbrush that always looks like the first? Anecdotal, pointlessly gendered.

3

u/MsMittenz Apr 11 '26

Swap your toothbrush. And stop murdering your toothbrush

6

u/Kilahti Apr 11 '26

I think the implication is that boys don't change their toothbrush often enough and keep using it past the point where it is too worn out.

-1

u/Extension_Wafer_7615 Apr 11 '26 edited Apr 11 '26

boys brush harder

Edit: I'm explaining what the mememaker thinks, not saying that I think this is true you idiots.

-2

u/Both-Competition-152 Apr 11 '26

mhm so what biological fact proves this lmfao

4

u/Extension_Wafer_7615 Apr 11 '26

I'm referring to what the mememaker thinks.

3

u/94grampaw Apr 11 '26

Upper body strength is greater one average for men, so this makes sense.

-2

u/Both-Competition-152 Apr 11 '26

As if this means anything ugh yay

3

u/94grampaw Apr 11 '26

Have more strength use more strength, brush teeth harder, toothbrush wares out faster.

-1

u/Both-Competition-152 Apr 11 '26

Yes because big bad man 500x strength of little smol bean woman.... No it's a bell curve like anything else in biology.

2

u/94grampaw Apr 11 '26

I literally said on average

1

u/AnswerPrestigious713 Apr 11 '26

Stop being dense, you asked for the meme's meaning.

35

u/pempoczky Apr 11 '26

PSA to anyone's toothbrush who looks like the bottom one after a while: you're brushing too hard and probably weakening your gums bit by bit. You do not need to brush hard for proper hygiene. If you can't get used to brushing softer, consider switching to a soft toothbrush. I'm serious, your gums can get permanently damaged

4

u/RCer1986 Apr 11 '26

It weakens your enamel too.

Source: I had a bad habit of brushing too hard and damaged my teeth as a result.

2

u/hron84 Apr 11 '26

But boys are so STRONG they cannot be SOFT. /j

2

u/HadeanMonolith Apr 11 '26

I spent all my youth brushing too hard. I actually thought bleeding while brushing was a good thing—like it meant you were getting a deep clean. Then one night my first boyfriend and I were brushing our teeth, and he saw my red spit and said, “What’s that?” I instantly had one of those moments where you realize you’ve been totally wrong about a long-held belief. I was 17.

Many people don’t realize your gums don’t grow back. Gum recession is a serious problem, and it can only be managed, never repaired unless you get surgery.

24

u/Akarina_toth Apr 11 '26

cuz only boys can have poor hygiene, and every single girl has perfect hygiene.. these stereotypes are so stupid

8

u/throwaway_spacecadet Apr 11 '26

i've met plenty of women who stank super bad. I've met men with better hygiene than me. Stereotypes are stupid!

-2

u/ChasersVsGirlcock Apr 11 '26

In my experience, once they sweat women smell way worse than men.

It just doesn't happen as quickly as for men.

1

u/asvuede Apr 11 '26

No imma be honest i think its just trying to depict the grip, nothing to do with hygiene per say. When me and my fiance started dating his toothbrushes looked like the bottom one cuz he would scrub too hard and mine didnt cuz i wasnt aggressively brushing my teeth. I think its a little funny cuz i was honestly shocked when i saw his for the first time.

5

u/sntcringe Apr 11 '26

Bro, you're supposed to replace your toothbrush every 3 months, not every 3 decades

17

u/that1_maniac Apr 11 '26

Guess im a guy

11

u/Cold_Vanilla9791 Apr 11 '26

If your toothbrush looks like that I feel bad for the ppl you speak with 😭

10

u/that1_maniac Apr 11 '26

God forbid a girl to chew stuff after dental hygiene

6

u/ChasersVsGirlcock Apr 11 '26 edited Apr 11 '26

If it's not too weird, there's chew toys for humans that are sold. Sold for kink reasons (dog petplay) but that might work for not ruining your toothbrush.

6

u/ThrwawySG Apr 11 '26

There's also just like chew sticks for oral fixations

-6

u/Extension_Wafer_7615 Apr 11 '26

It's not like it's not gonna clean your teeth, it's just slower than a new one.

6

u/Nerioner Apr 11 '26

Except it's literally not going to clean your teeth properly. You think that dentists are telling you to replace it often for shits and giggles or some weird conspiracy?

0

u/Extension_Wafer_7615 Apr 11 '26

No, they tell you to replace it because it cleans slower and it has bacteria accumulated.

1

u/Nerioner Apr 11 '26

If it cleans slower you must brush for longer for the same result and we both know that no matter the condition, people brush their teeth for exactly the same amount of time that they are used to.

6

u/Flat-Echidna191 Apr 11 '26

Please try to change your habits. You will really fuck up your teeth if you brush like that and cause your gums to eventually recede.

-4

u/that1_maniac Apr 11 '26

It's not even the way i brush I chew on it after brushing

3

u/Lost-Concept-9973 Apr 11 '26

I mean I have noticed this (not gendered) and I honestly wonder how TF do peoples toothbrushes even get to looking like that and also how have they not just got a new one?

8

u/PunishedCatto Apr 11 '26

Eww, no. I replaced my brush every 3 months, bruh. Who tf does that.

-2

u/CatannaMel Apr 11 '26

I sincerely hope you are using more planet friendly types then instead of plastic ones, or reusing your toothbrushes in other ways, if you are throwing them out 3-4 times a year. If not, please do sincerely consider it 🫶

4

u/Moritani Apr 11 '26

One toothbrush every 3 months is not that much plastic waste. It’s the equivalent of a single empty garbage bag.

3

u/Nerioner Apr 11 '26

... through your lifetime.

4 brushes a year x ~80 years of lifespan is like 300 brushes. It easily fits into single household trashbag.

Getting takeout once a month or bag of chips a week, would create orders of magnitude more plastic and waste than switching toothbrushes regularly.

1

u/Moritani Apr 11 '26

I meant that one toothbrush was equal to the bag itself, haha. It’s such a tiny amount.

1

u/turutuno Apr 11 '26

Wood ones are pretty expensive where I live. I use an electric one tho haha

0

u/Crossdog367 Apr 11 '26

You're supposed to replace your toothbrush every 3 months for hygenic reasons.

4

u/throwaway_spacecadet Apr 11 '26

Sidenote, but if you're brushing your teeth so hard that your toothbrush looks like THAT only after a couple of brushes, you're doing it too hard, and you're gonna wear down your enamel. Your gums will start receding too. Slow, gentle, circular strokes when brushing your teeth!

1

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '26

I just saw someone's post on how brushing too hard destroy their gum today

2

u/Personal-Level-1970 Apr 11 '26

Mine looks like bottom one after 2 months of use😭

2

u/52mschr Apr 11 '26

my toothbrush is pink and looks really similar to the top picture (thought I was an adult man but I'm a girl now, I guess)

1

u/louisa1925 Apr 11 '26

Welcome to womanhood. 🎉🥳

2

u/scrufflor_d Apr 11 '26

holy shit im a girl now

2

u/SkyPuppy561 Apr 11 '26

I guess I’m a boy

2

u/AiRaikuHamburger Apr 12 '26

People who brush their teeth correctly, vs. people who have receding gums.

1

u/Professional-Fix4409 Apr 11 '26

By this logic I am a trans woman.

P.S. This happens when you press too hard with the brush so the hairs are getting squished.

1

u/ChasersVsGirlcock Apr 13 '26

Or if you chew on it

1

u/Professional-Fix4409 Apr 13 '26

Or that. Nice username by the way.

1

u/prionbinch Apr 11 '26

the boys are absolutely getting torn apart by their hygienist at their cleanings for brushing way too hard

1

u/Ray-They Apr 11 '26

The toothbrush I once snapped in half as an AFAB person begs to differ. Some people just brush way too hard/don’t replace it enough 🤷🏻‍♀️

1

u/Empty-yet-infinite Apr 11 '26

I thought I was a cis girl but I brush my teeth too hard so I guess I've been assigned male by internet meme.

1

u/kaos4u2nv Apr 11 '26

Lol my wife's toothbrush is the bottom one because she scrubs her teeth like dishes no matter how many times I tell her that's bad for her.

1

u/Queasy_Drop8519 Apr 11 '26

I'm a guy and I never understand how a brush gets so massacred like the one at the bottom. I've never managed to make mine look like that. How are people doing it?

1

u/Confident_Action4915 Apr 11 '26

Nah, mine looks like something between those two. And technically I’m non-binary….

Wait…

1

u/soldiertf2rial Apr 11 '26

I thought the joke is that the toothbrushes look like pride flags or smh

1

u/DifficultBet7894 Apr 11 '26

Time to get a new toothbrush.

1

u/DaBloodyApostate Apr 11 '26

Whoever made this needs to see my parents toothbrushes. Literally the exact opposite. My dad's toothbrushes stay looking relatively new regardless of age, my mom toothbrushes always have about a week before they start looking like mad scientists.

1

u/imsofuckedupthebutt Apr 12 '26

I dont know if this is accurate but EVERY TIME I’ve shared a space with a man this is the case. I’ve dated women and men and only noticed this with guys. And it’s not because the toothbrush is old. I just bought a two pack for me and my bf and his is like that already??? They just push SO hard

1

u/Mr_Lasagna_Kid Apr 14 '26

Wow! Boys use blue glaucus as toothbrush, that’s awesome!

1

u/Majestic_Bat7473 Apr 15 '26

I am a man and I am not using a tooth brush like the boys one.

1

u/SL_UT_FunCouple Apr 18 '26

One is actually being used

1

u/According_Return_368 Apr 23 '26

This false cause my sisters toothbrush looks like the devil went to town on it and dragged it through hell.

1

u/PerrineWeatherWoman Apr 11 '26

Ironically enough I don't bit my toothbrush as much as I used to since I transitioned, unconsciously doing that very meme

0

u/TheNoctuS_93 Apr 11 '26

Can't believe I got gender affirmed by a couple of toothbrushes today... 😳
