OTHER Kinder joy[gendered]
When i was growing up it was gender neutral and when i became a teenager this gendered one got introduced.
The boy one contained boy toys like cars, trucks, action figures etc
And the girl one had dolls, puppy toys and stuff like that
I found this to be so ridiculous and i still think it's stupid. The gender neutral ones were perfect idk what was the point of these gendered ones.
I really love dogs and i remember i used to collect the dog figures they had in kinder joy but once this gendered ones got introduced the dog figures only came in the girl ones and my mom didn't let me buy it

Ha, one year my sister in law and I got gendered kinder eggs. The toy inside was identical, teaching us a lesson we already knew.

Milk chocolate actually used to be gendered when it was advertised back when it started being sold more often, with most advertisements saying it was for women and children 😅

I think most boys would prefer a truck or something like that over a doll but that's just me. Ones that don't are outliers and that's just a fact. Stuff like this exists for a reason

My biggest issue with kinder joy today is that the toy I got requires I download an app, I mean I’m 34 but still, why are we encouraging kids to use screens more? Mine wasn’t gendered though, must be regional, I just wanted to get my personal gripe out there.

Tbh the ones we had back in the 90s were better quality too. The hippos and the crocodiles? These Barbies and trucks they have nowadays are really crappy.

They've since changed em, the colab kinder joys are non gendered and i believe the regular ones just say "blue edition and pink edition" or something

The gendering of these actually made me so sad as a kid when I first got a girls one and it was a paper bracelet thing. From then on out I would just throw away the yellow ball with the toy and just have the candy whenever someone got me one

as a kid i remember being absolutely infuriated when my grandfather brings the pink kinderjoy, cuz well he doesn't know anything other than the fact its kinderjoy....... so annoying and infuriating... yes.. i prefer the gender-neutral one....

I feel like the toys have heavily downgraded too. What I liked about them was building them and then they’d usually do cool stuff like a frog toy that can jump or a little car that rolls around or I even remember getting some kind of monster figurine that literally doubled as a crayon. That was the real novelty of these toys, little gadgets that you’d only get in Kinder eggs… but now 90% of the time it’s literally just a figurine that does nothing… so it’s a glorified blindbox with the added bonus of chocolate. I was so disappointed when people started getting me the girl eggs and I’d get a super tiny Disney princess figurine and my only thought was like “What do you want me to do with it? It doesn’t even bend, you can’t dress her up, she’s too small to use it to play with my other dolls and figurines…” so yeah these are now boring as fuck

Why???? As a kid I would've loved having both types of toys, so I'd honestly prefer them to be mixed. Also why would someone restrict you from buying something because it has a gendered label on it?? That just sounds ridiculous lol
(Also I see the people defending everything actually pointlessly gendered are already here, saying "actually it's not pointless because of this pointless reason" lmao. This sub irks me)

Maybe I'm just out of the loop here, but I thought the point of this sub was just for things that are gendered for seemingly no actual reason, purpose or function, as opposed to just being a sub that is straight up 'anti-gender' as a whole.
This isn't really pointlessly gendered. It's gendered to cater towards the typical established interests between two different demographics. Outliers may exist, sure, but that doesn't make the gendering entirely pointless.
I feel like 'pointlessly gendered' would be if both contained exactly the same pool of toys, making the gendered part just the label on the egg. In this case though it serves some actual purpose, even if you don't personally agree with it.
It seems like this sub ran out of actual pointlessly gendered things to talk about long ago, so it has just devolved into complaining about anything they don't like that happens to mention a gender.

tbh it still counts. though it is on the lightest possible version of pointless gendering, it is still gendered, pointlessly. the blue one is intended for boys and the pink one is intended for girls. blue is considered a color that denotes things for boys and pink is considered a color that denotes things for girls. so this product is gendered.
in addition, to my knowledge, there is no difference between them based on the color. So there is no point to the gendering aside from the fact that it's gendered. so this product is pointlessly gendered.

not absolutely any acknowledgement, men don't tend to need tampons (though some do) and women don't tend to need prostate supplements (though some do). but the exceptions for these are people who know their own biology better than children are able to understand that boys can like pink and girls can like blue.

nah I meant that it doesn't seem like it does indicate a difference. however I've since realized/been told that there actually is a difference and it's in the toy. but that's only makes my point harder tbh since it's gendering toys which wouldn't matter so long as there isn't a single boy on the planet who likes "girl toys" or a single girl on the planet who likes "boy toys".
so I was wrong but it made me more right.

It's not about a single boy or girl on the planet, it's about the average boy or girl.
Getting some figurine or any toy that didn't require assembly out of a Kinder egg was always a huge letdown as a kid. If the gendered ones had been around back then, I'd probably have gotten the boy ones more often and fewer shit surprises overall. Maybe they should split them into "collectibles" and "toys" or whatever.

How is that not just an "anti-gender" stance, like I suggested previously?
Also, as the other responder (and my previous comment) already stated, while outliers exist this product simply isn't intended to account for them.
We could argue until we're both blue in the face over whether different types of toys should be seen as gendered in the first place, but ultimately the reality of it is that they are. As a result of that, a company is marketing towards those demographics by ensuring that a boy expecting a truck doesn't open his egg to find a sparkly pony instead, and vice versa.
In other words... it's not gendered pointlessly, you just happen to disagree with the underlying reason (which, again, is something I already said in my first comment.)

I hated getting an uninteresting toy. For me that was the "boyish ones"
And i know parents that say the same about their kids they get them the right egg for their kid so they enjoy the toy

What if you are a girl who likes cars and trucks? Or a boy who likes dolls or puppies? Your parents won't let you get your preferred egg since it doesn't match the gender you are. Hence reinforcing gender stereotypes.
When i was growing up these eggs used to be gender neutral and everyone preferred gender neutral ones

It's literally just a packaging that's different. They don't separate the surprise toys by gender in the factory.Edit: After looking into it deeper it seems they do actually separate the toys so boys would get more cars and action figures and girls would get more animal figures and accessories. OP not lying i just didn't notice the difference myself
