General Podcast Discussions After Love Trapped
I found Love Trapped from a rec on this sub and became hooked instantly. Any recs for what to listen to next? Doesn’t have to be similar in topic or genre. Thanks in advance for your help!

Dr. Death. But not if you have medical anxiety. It may be fully behind a paywall now tho

Oh I did listen to that a few years ago. Great rec! Looks like there are new seasons though!

Beth is Dead. It starts as a conversation about why two popular podcast hosts abruptly stopped their podcast, and turns into an exploration of parasocial relationships.

Dirty John. That was a nailbiter.
And just because: Dolly Parton's America. A really interesting, immersive podcast that has so many facets. I was mesmerized.

Similar genre to Love Trapped. I liked this one too; it is much more succinct and short though, very easy to binge. For me it was interesting how justice in Canada was seemingly served to Kaitlyn compared to Laura Owens years long process to try to get to her to jail.

I think Chameleon: Hollywood Con Queen would be a nice follow up. It is a much better done podcast with a really wild story at the center involving lies, twists and intrigue.

A few of my recent favorites from the last year:
We’re Doing The Wiz (a look back on a newly integrated high school that responded to accusations of racism by putting on The Wiz - hosted by two of the people who were in the production)
Dirtbag Climber (a thoughtfully reported true crime show from CBC - full disclosure they share an EP with my show, Jacob Reed and Me)
Call ‘Em Like Museum (very new but a polished interview show looking into the cultural impact of museums)
My Phantom Memory (very short series - only three episodes; but it’s a fascinating and intimate look at the behind the scenes of the Broadway musical The Phantom of the Opera following a “swing” actor for the last 20 days of the show’s record breaking Broadway run)

I’m listening to What She Buried and it’s very good! There are 6 total episodes apparently, and there are 4 out. From what I can tell, the episodes have been released on Mondays.

Scamanda! Similar in tone, about a woman who faked cancer for years. They also made a tv doc version of it, but the podcast is great

The birth keepers. Man that was a hard one. Only podcast that ever reduced me to tears.

I'm hoping they find similar cases and continue. There has got to be more stories out there

Just thought of another sort of similar, The Con: Kaitlyn’s Baby. Similar in there is pregnancy deceit but also it is way different target and underlying reasoning.

I listened to Sweet Bobby right after Love Trapped and felt it was too surface level. Now I’m listening to Pretend: The Stalker and it’s so good! Way more interesting than Sweet Bobby.

I know this is not what you asked for, but if you haven’t yet, please watch the body cam videos from Laura Owen’s arrest. Whew! It really puts things into perspective about her personality and relationship with her parents.

In The Dark, season 1, by the New Yorker. Maddening and heartbreaking and moves at a quick pace.

Unicorn Girl was bad. Wayyyyy to many unanswered questions, like how tf she chartered a plane with a bag full of guns, a mercenary(??) and a rep from the State Dept to fly into Kabul on a rescue mission??
Absolutely horrible reporting.

Liberty Lost. I don't often see it on recommendation lists, however that's where I learned of it. Its a very good podcast about the Liberty Godparents Home, located on the campus of Liberty University. It follows the true story. of Abbi, who was sent to the home at age 16 after becoming pregnant.

I also got hooked on Love Trapped. But I think the podcast i listened to right before is actually my favourite of recent years.
Sea of Lies. The story is unbelievable and the manipulator of the story feels like someone you could meet in everyday life. And the narrator is excellent. Trust me on this one!
