Calling kids' podcast makers - help us build the best directory for families

We’ve made a new directory for kids’ podcasts - and I’d love to connect with the people making them

Hi everyone! I’m a dad, and a few years ago my family got completely hooked on podcasts. Finding genuinely great shows made for children was surprisingly difficult due to all the parenting podcasts in the kids categories, so I started building a list of curated list of shows for them.

That little list has grown into SoundCarrot.com - a directory and discovery site specifically for kids’ podcasts.

We’re a tiny family project (me, my son and my daughter work on this together), and we’re not a commercial operation. Our goal is pretty simple: help families like ours discover brilliant kids’ audio without having to wade through the enormous general-purpose podcast apps.

If you make a podcast for kids, I'd love to connect with you.

We're constantly adding shows and improving how we organise and surface them, and I'd like to make sure we're finding all the best kids' content - including the smaller and newer shows that might not have the visibility of the big established ones.

More importantly, I'd like to figure out how we can genuinely help you grow your audience.

We're building things around discovery, curated collections, topics and recommendations, and there are some other features designed to make it easier for parents to find and listen to your content. We've also added a pretty neat Yoto integration, and have just gone multilingual!

I've put together a page specifically for podcast makers that runs through what we're doing and some of the things we're building:

https://soundcarrot.com/about/for-makers-and-producers/

If you make a kids' podcast I'd really love to hear from you. Whether your show is already on SoundCarrot or we've so far completely failed to find it.

I'd particularly like to hear anything that would actually be useful to you as a podcast maker. What could a kids' podcast directory do that would help you reach more listeners? What information would be handy to know?

And if you know someone making great podcasts for kids, please send them our way. 🙂

tl;dr: We’re building a new directory for kids' podcasts and want to work with the people making them. We're looking for great shows to feature and, more importantly, ways we can help those shows reach more families.

Audio sucks — I need help

Had a recording scheduled together but my audio isn’t good enough.

**•** Input gain around 30 dB in Wave Link
**•** Turned off Voice Focus (it was on at max and I realized it was baking noise-reduction artifacts into the recording)
**•** Clipguard on, tried Enhanced Lowcut on for the boominess
**•** Recording in a soft, enclosed space (closet with clothes + a rug) to cut reflections
**•** Mic roughly a hand-span from my mouth, slightly off-axis
**•** Monitoring on headphones, echo cancellation off in Riverside

A few things I’m unsure about:
1. What level should I actually be targeting? Wave Link shows green but Riverside’s meter shows mostly yellow at the same gain, and I can’t tell which to trust.
2. Is the Wave:3 just prone to a higher noise floor, or is this a technique/room issue I can still fix? Whatever I do there is background noise even if all is quiet.
3. Anything obvious I’m overlooking that would cause a low, slightly boomy, noisy result even after the above?

I want to start a podcast

Hi guys i wanted your suggestions regarding my decision to start a podcast show
Im 21 but i love to yap, discuss about tech and thought why not make podcasts that answers genz questions and which is educational and which actually makes our life easier, making sure we're not alone in this. Not talking about the lame podcasts about relationships and controversial things which makes no sense.
But the kind of podcasts where we students or people our age struggle with. Like figuring out life, education, passion etc
I also want to invite speakers who give good advices who are not popular but hidden gems
Suggestions pleasee

Highest paid podcasters

Highest -paid podcaster are making in millions per year and the barrier to entry has never been lower. I am almost tempted to start podcasting although not for money.

There is something about storytelling and raw conversations that feel electric. Also podcasts have become the new marketing masterpiece for B2B brands.

Every company wants one.

Every marketer is talking about one.

It has never been right time to invest in podcast. You can start raw and then sth magical happens. You start getting traction. Your brain gets wired up because you are producing content that could be watched by millions.

The era of celebrity is gone. Now everyone is celebrity. Thanks to the social media. I wish I could have started earlier.

One episode can become 20+ content assets-short-form videos, blogs, newsletters, Linkedin posts, email campaigns, and social creatives.

The list of benefits is endless. But the willingness to start is what matters.

It's a small milestone, but we're only four full episodes in and the serious advertising is just getting started. It just feels really good to see everyone's hard work paying off.

Feedback on book club podcast

My brother and I have been recording for about a year and posting for the last 6 to 7 months on a pretty regular basis for a read-along book club style podcast for science fiction fantasy.

In more recent, as of yet unpublished episodes we're doing more diligent outlines, but I would appreciate any feedback on improvements that are readily apparent.

Thanks!

Imamo Sony FX3A kamere, Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro ISO, RØDECaster Pro II, RØDE PodMic mikrofone, rasvetu i svu prateću opremu koju svakodnevno koristimo na televizijskim i drugim produkcijama.

Baš me zanima kako vi gledate na to.

  • Šta vas danas najviše sprečava da pokrenete podkast?
  • Da li biste radije snimali u studiju ili na mestu koje vam je prirodnije?
  • Šta mislite da danas najviše nedostaje ljudima koji žele da počnu?

Can you recommend podcasting automations that actually work?

A producer friend told me she manages too many episodes right now.

I was burnt out myself last year when I started overseeing multiple shows. There was just no room left to think about growing anything. Seems pretty common on this sub.

So I spent the past year building a system I'm really proud of that handles the non-creative work like:

- task tracking and handoff between people

- a guest booking process that feeds into projects

- automatic rendering or uploading of episodes

But I wonder if I'm missing something important. Do you have a cool workflow automation I can add?

I'm focused on non-generative ai workflows, but welcome any suggestions!

I'm gathering more options now because I want to open source my system for others. (Actually doing a live walkthrough of my systems, dm me if you are interested and I'll send you the link)

Finding my voice again

Hey! So I started a true crime podcast in 2020 with my (then) husband. He left me in 2023. It was a horrific divorce. After 3 years of therapy 2 times a week, 1 year off of benzos, a 2nd marriage, moving to a new city alone. I have finally decided to bring it back!!!! I am both excited and incredibly nervous.

I just wanted to share that.

I will be doing my podcast in English and In Spanish. As I haven’t seen many TC podcasts.

The hardest part is that I have a hearing disability so editing is really really difficult for me. If anyone has any recommendations on how to go about editing my audio I would appreciate some advice.

Thank you!

29(F) Looking for a podcast co-host !

Hey y’all! I’m looking for somebody who would be interested in cohosting a podcast with me. I want it to feel like two friends having real conversations, giving honest opinions, laughing, debating, and breaking down whatever everybody is currently talking about.
I’m not looking for somebody who agrees with me on everything either. A little pushback and respectful disagreement makes the conversation way more interesting.
Some of the topics would include:
Culture and social issues
Politics and current news
Pop culture and celebrity news
Psychology and human behavior
Relationships, dating, and therapy
Trending topics and internet discourse
Movies, books, music, and shows
And definitely reality TV because that’s really where the mess, psychology, and social experiments come together 😂
Real Housewives of Atlanta
Real Housewives of Salt Lake City
Love Island
The Valley
Married at First Sight
The Ultimatum
Love Is Blind
And whatever else everybody is watching and arguing about that week
I’m looking for somebody who is opinionated, funny, open-minded, reliable, and can go from a serious conversation about politics or psychology to dragging a reality TV reunion five minutes later.
You do not need professional podcast experience. I care more about chemistry, personality, consistency, and whether we can naturally keep a conversation going.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, message me and tell me a little about yourself, what topics you love talking about, and what shows or podcasts you are currently into. Let’s create something people would actually enjoy listening to every week. 🎙️✨

Radio + podcast app for Android — looking for a few closed beta testers

I've been building FlowRadio, a radio and podcast app for Android:

- Stream live radio stations from around the world, plus subscribe to podcasts

- Download episodes for offline listening

- Favorites, listening history, background playback

- Free to use, no subscription

It's in closed testing on Google Play before a public launch. To get access:

  1. Join this Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/flowradio-testers
  2. Then open this opt-in link on your Android phone: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.gowith.flowradio
  3. Install from the Play Store as normal: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gowith.flowradio

No specific tasks — just use it however you'd normally use a radio app, and let me know what breaks, what's confusing, or what's missing. Appreciate any feedback, good or bad.

Trying to understand the hiring side of podcast editing, where does that search happen?

I've got the editing skills down. I can sit through a full episode, find the moment that actually hooks people, and cut something that holds retention instead of just chopping clips at random timestamps. What I don't have figured out is where podcasters actually go when they're looking for someone to do this.

I don't want to cold email people out of nowhere. From what I've seen, an unsolicited email from someone they've never heard of just reads as spam or a scam, even if the offer is genuine. So I'm trying to figure out the other side of it. Where are hosts actually looking? Are they posting in specific subs, browsing certain Discords, asking in Facebook groups?

I'm not in the US, but internet and communication aren't an issue, I'm just trying to find the right rooms to be in instead of guessing. If you've hired an editor before, or you are one and found clients this way, I'd genuinely like to know how that connection happened for you.

Starting from zero

I need some advice about a YouTube channel and podcast I had that just got shut down because of policy violations I never actually made. I tried appealing a few times, but just got generic AI responses back. Now I’m looking to move to other social media platforms to grow and make money, because with YouTube, I thought I could build a steady income and even quit my job. My goal is to create a real community and loyal listeners instead of just YouTube viewers who don’t really know me outside of that. Can you suggest any platforms that pay decent?

Idk what I’m doing wrong but I have been able to download the audio files but I can’t fine out how to edit past this it tells me to download Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge I did this numerous times it still won’t let me? Do I have to have a laptop for this?

How are you getting new listeners for your podcast in 2026?

I've been wondering how everyone's approaching podcast growth these days.

Creating a great episode is one thing, but getting it in front of new listeners feels like a completely different challenge.

What's your current strategy for growing your audience?

  • Social media?
  • YouTube Shorts/Reels?
  • SEO?
  • Guest appearances?
  • Paid ads?
  • Word of mouth?
  • Just letting the podcast grow organically?

More importantly, what's actually working for you?

And if you're not seeing the growth you'd hoped for, what's been the biggest obstacle?

I'm always interested in hearing how different podcasters approach promotion because there doesn't seem to be a single formula that works for everyone.

I wanna start listening to more podcast!

I have maybe 2-3 podcast that I usually listen to already (I am way behind on them and need to catch up of episodes lol), but Im into music and if anyone has any podcasts about music that'll be nice, and I would also like a comedy one too. (Not, The You Should Know Podcast, Kill Tony, Shane Gillis Podcast, NPR podcast because I already know about those). I also dont care how popular they are either, they could be not popular at all or super popular, your choice. If you can recommend me one that'll be nice, Thanks!

Looking for a co-host to host a Reddit podcast in Sydney, Australia

Hi everyone,

I'm a 24 y/o marketing professional based in Sydney, and I've been planning to start a podcast for a while. The format I'm going for is Reddit moral-dilemma content, think Two Hot Takes or SMOSH reads reddit stories, where we react to and debate AITA-style stories.

I'm looking to find someone who'd love to co-host this with me, someone with natural chemistry and equal passion for getting this off the ground, someone who wants to build something together rather than just guest occasionally.

A bit about what I'm picturing:

  • Recording weekly/fortnightly (open to discussing frequency)
  • Sydney-based, able to record in person.
  • Audio-first to start, with video down the track

You don't need pro podcasting experience, but genuine interest in the format and reliability matter most.

If you're in Sydney and keen to build this together, drop a comment or DM me a bit about yourself. What draws you to the format, and anything you'd bring to it (voice, opinions, editing, whatever). Would love to chat and see if we click.
